  1. Months of hyping, years of waiting and we got ZTD. One of the most disappointing finale in a series ever. And not just disappointing but inconsistent, badly written piece of fiction. Sure the previous games had their own problems but this time they failed and when I said failed I mean they literally shat on everythingthe series was building for. Now of course bashing ZTD has become a trend nowadays and the only entertaining thing about ZTD has become the memes. But I think looking back on it and analyzing it’s mistake is very important for the ZE fans and especially the fans who want to learn thing or two about writing. So with no further a due let us begin. Motivation of the mastermind makes no sense: Character motivation is one of the most important parts of a fiction. If the motivation doesn’t make sense the whole plot is essentially meaningless and stupid. In order to kill the terrorist and save the world Delta released radical six. And this motivation alone is enough to ruin the series. The reason this feels so stupid is because Delta has the ability to mind hack. Someone who can MIND READ can’t track down a single person. Even if Delta didn’t have time he could have just warned Sigma and Phi instead of kidnapping them. They would use their shifting ability to find the terrorist and save the world so what’s the problem? But not just Sigma and Phi. Carlos, Diana, Akane and Junpei are also espers. It was even revealed that Akane and Junpei could download information from the morphogenetic field. Carlos and Diana also has some weird ability that allows them to get information from other people. The gang is just way too overpowered to the point there is no obstacle anymore. And this is why I also wished that uchikoshi would restrict time travel. Time travel without any restriction can easily ruin conflict. Jumping through time is such a casual thing nowadays it lost all of it’s cool factor and only works as a cheap way out of everything.. Not to mention Delta had many many other very useful assets besides the shifters. The transporter machine that can clone him to other timelines, the quantum computer that can generate timelines and calculate timeline branching and help Sean remember stuff from other timelines. He also has Sean robots, the entire control over free the soul. But even if he didn’t have these assets him knowing about a terrorist who wants to destroy the world but not knowing who is highly unlikely. There is also the possibility of the terrorist deciding not to destroy the world. There is no solid proof that the terrorist would destroy the earth without making any other timelines. And since ZE series runs on multiverse even if Delta saw the future through mind hacking the story could easily branch off to the timeline where the terrorist decides not to do it meaning that delta killed 6 billion people for nothing. Another reason for making the decision game was that he and Phi would be born. Which is again a terrible flaw in logic because according to the multiverse theory (the same theory that works for the ZE series) there are infinite timelines. Which means even if you don’t do anything you won’t perish because when you are using the multiverse theory there is no such thing as a paradox. Among the infinite timelines there must be a timeline where Sigma and Diana got married, gave birth to Phi and Delta, turns out that their children have super powers and they send their children to the past via the transporter. There was no need for a decision game. 999 worked on different time travel mechanics. Another one of Delta’s C O M P L E X M O T I V E S was that he gave the Zero escape gangs the determination to find the terrorist. Which was pretty useless because the entire gang was already determined. Sigma prepared for this for 45 years. It was Akane’s fault for not telling Sigma about the decision game that they fell into this mess. “The bootstrap paradox” In ZTD there are some paradoxes of this kind. Where did Phi’s name and the brooch originated from? Baby Phi was named Phi because Sigma knew about future Phi. The brooch was there because…reasons? This whole paradox makes the sentence on the brooch to be pointless. And the brooch should age between each jump but it clearly doesn’t. The bootstrap paradox is something I hate about time travel stories. It forces something to be in a certain way without having any kind of meaning or origin. I call it fatalism bullshit. “The prologue” Yes I’m even going to talk about the prologue file since it’s part of the story. First of all about getting information from the future. Why would any version of her bother to send her information if the multiverse exists? And secondly if they did send information why did it have to be so vague? And since when can akane send information to herself? If she could have done that then why did old Akane bother to train Sigma and Phi. Just use her ability to send the needed information to save the world to young sigma and phi or herself. In the end Uchikoshi just wrote himself into a corner with VLR ( he didn’t have a good reason as to why Akane kidnaped Sigma) so he just excused it with this. Sigma’s actions immensely disappointed me due to his irrational behavior and idiotic deductions. He spent 45 years training for this moment and that’s the best he can do? I thought he would be searching for radical 6 relentlessly, using dirty and clever schemes to inspect the other participants and suspects them of being brother or carrying radical 6. But all I got was: “Get off me! It might be in the case!” “What might be? You’re not making sense!” “The very thing that will kill six bil—dammit!” 45 years of training and he is still a fucking moron. And there is no foreshadowing or mention of Delta. Sigma and Phi not suspecting delta even though he clearly fits the description is just bad writing. Akane and Junpei’s conversation made me realize how interesting, engaging, emotional Akane and Junpei’s relationship would have been if the author wasn’t such a cop out. “Setting of the decision game” Aside from having a really bad reasons for existing the decision game had potential. Unlike the previous games there are three playable POVs. In other words most of the characters will have plenty of screen time and we would be able to see things from multiple perspective. Unfortunately the players are divided into 3 groups. This limits character interaction between three people and makes it impossible for a well handled murder mystery. I would love it if there were occasionally teamwork fragment where different teams meet each other but there weren’t any. Another thing I absolutely hated was the amnesia drugs. Since when did time specific drugs become a thing in zero escape? Seven and K lost their entire memories because of the overdose of sophoril. It made sense. But now we have memory erasers? The amnesia drugs also made character development impossible. A super fucked up event happens that require them to change but memory eraser and they forget about everything. “Fragments” Now I will go in depth as to why the story sucked as well as share my opinion on each fragment. The fragment system makes the game surprisingly easy to review. "Beggining" I loved it when Junpei started roasting Akane and having a secret grudge against her. But what i hated was that they tried to hide the fact that Akane and Sigma were zeros of the previous game. When i hyped the game before it began i was sure there were going to be some confession moment where Akane and Sigma admit that they have done horrible things. But nooo, it would reveal the twists of the other games so we are going to predent they are pure and innocent and destroy any kind of chance for theme exploration. I know that they were trying to appeal to the new comers but to hell with the new comers. ZTD would have never seen the light of day if us fans haven’t been supporting the series all this time. Jumping to the finale of a series without experiencing the previous ones are the newcomers fault. Waiting all this time hyping the game yet getting a story that doesn’t even resemble the previous games is just unacceptable. Another thing that really bugged me was that Sigma and Phi would never jump. Just jump to the past and capture Zero before he commits his crimes for the love of god. And one of the most retarded plot twists i have ever seen in my life was Delta being one of the particapants. First of all hiding information from the players is just wrong. It’s not a fair mystery and don’t say stuff like it was foreshadowed or anything. The foreshadowing was very vague . Not to mention the whole plot twist didn’t even need to be there in the first place. Heck this twist is followed with a straight up plot holes such as Delta dying many times because he was with Q team instead of hiding himself in a safe place and mind hacking them. The only reason this plot twist is here is because Uchikoshi thinks it is best to hide the mastermind among the particapants. But what good is hiding the participant if it doesn’t make a fair mystery or help to flesh out the mastermind in any way. Besides if Delta is truly there then why doesn’t Eric say something like “ why are there 4 of us. Why wasn’t Sean’s name mentioned” or “ is this old man really deaf and blind? If so why is he following us?” or why won’t they talk about him in general. And now I will talk about the fragments. C team “Suspicion” Oh how much I hate this fragment. The first thing that pissed me off in this fragment was how Akane said she might have influenced junpei to become emo. What do you mean might have? You were the one who endangered his life to save your own skin, acted nice and cute only to betray him. And they find junpei’s head because EDGE. The one who killed him is Mira. And the reason she killed him is… complex? And why the hell would Delta even allow her to do that. And then Akane went ape shit with the chainsaw. And I fucking hate this. First of all I highly doubt a calculative person who rules an underground organization and also ran a killing game would act like this. The most frequent defense for this is the blind ZTD tards saying “akane was never in a situation like this before” or “she wasn’t in full control” which is complete bullshit. Unless you are a retard you wouldn’t act like this. This defensive logic pretty much points out that akane is only good at seeing and copying things and freaks out when her super powers aren’t giving her the answer to everything. This discredits her heavily. And if a character is too stupid to think for herself then I don’t give a shit about them cause they are literally too stupid to care. And let’s not forget that Akane herself endangered Junpei’s life and managed to kill him in alternate universes and didn’t even flinch when doing it and YET when someone other than her kills him she goes “NO ONE CAN KILL JUMPY EXCEPT MEEE”. And her suspicion towards Carlos is completely nonsensical. If Carlos had killed junpei then he should have also killed Akane too since it was very clear that he had the chance. And it bothers me so much that both of them are ignoring the possibility that Zero might have just screwed the rules even though that’s the most logical deduction most people would come up with in this situation. And the way the author is trying to present this as tragic and dramatic is laughable. Akane and Carlos deserved to die because of their stupidity. This entire fragment is a cringey, idiotic, forced drama. “First come first saved” Finally a reference to 999. But the problem is that we couldn’t get any info about Santa cause Junpei forgot to get an answer for his question and just rambled on about the other characters. And if the developers were trying to avoid spoilers then why didn’t they refer to ace as Hongou and Lotus as Hazuki? And then we get a extremely rushed backstory of Junpei and how he became edgy. But even in the little information he gave us there are tons of flaw. Why would an underground organization hire a normal highschool boy with no special skills? And the simple fact that his character development is not related to the events of the nonary game is just off putting. And how the hell did he gain the reputation he needed in ONE YEAR. He then fought the free the soul and destroyed their base?!?! Are we even talking about the same person here? Junpei could be lying about all of this since we never saw these events happening. He might have been trying to act cool in front of Akane (now that I think about it makes perfect sense). If any of you are going to be a writer in the future don’t do this bullcrap with time skips. “Junpei… One year…and you’ve changed so much… and that has nothing to with me at all” - Akane Kurashiki 2016 As for the decision game I hate the fact that delta’s bullshit mind hack was involved in this. If junpei pushed the button by his own free will then Akane would argue with him afterwards meaning that it would create a nice drama and Junpei might have to bring up Akane’s death game and her actions in the past to defend himself. But screw theme exploration am I right? “poison” Okay, what the hell is this bullshit? The producers knew that they have limited budget, very restricted time and they spent an entire fragment on something so uninteresting and unimportant. The way delta just handed the fate of D team to C team is just straight up unfair. I guess it’s because of the pretentious “life is unfair” philosophy but life would be less unfair if Delta wasn’t such a huge prick. The decision game was kid’s play and it doesn’t create a meaningful dilemma. This fragment was a waste of time. “The Antrophic principle” Oh I got so excited when Junpei talked about how Akane changed first. Too bad it was never expanded. And also what’s up with this nonsense probability based decision games? And this is also one of my gripes about the story. It never used the decision games at it’s full potential. If the decision games were used to reveal the dark nature of the characters or to fuck up their brain then it would be so much entertaining and would lead to an actual character development (and would be negated because amnesia drugs). But this decision game is just about rolling a dice if you didn’t get 1/216 you die. Aside from how racist the decision game was (why did C team only get this bullshit) it became a pillar for science bantering the series is popular of. And the banter was about something so obvious and the conclusion to the conversation was “We live in the world god has abandoned”. No shit Sherlock. And also drunk jumpy is amazing “Monty hall” One of the most dumb things I noticed when replaying this was the that fact that C team didn’t even need to solve the puzzle in this fragment and the one in “antrophic principle”. If they just waited for 90 minutes to run out then they would be knocked by the gas. It’s bad but still better than dying.I also loved Junpei’s jokes. He is inconsistent but he is the most entertaining of the bunch. The decision game wasn’t that bad but it doesn’t create a dilemma. The choice is obvious. Give the mask to akane cause male chauvinism. And akane just exists through the X door without trying to contact D team first. “Ambidex” There is just so many things wrong in this fragment. First of all i really hate the fact that the AB games played out like this. I hated it in VLR and i hate it even more in this. If you choose ally junpei chooses betray and if you choose betray junpei chooses ally. Dude even with multiple timelines we have a thing called personality. I really wish that Junpei would choose betray no matter what. It makes sense that he's going to kill off everyone just to get into Akane's pants. It would be less bullshit and leaves room for theme exploration. But nooo junpei is going to change his vote because he has no personality. And whoever thought that yandere Akane was a good thing is an idiot. Akane the mastermind who emotionlessly killed three people for her revenge and endangered her boyfriend to save her ass is now a mindless yandere. She didn't even think things through. And there is some really convenient stuff like Akane being knocked out right before the AB game and regaining consciousness right in time to kill Carlos with a fire extinguisher. And it’s not ironic nor clever. It’s just pure cringe. Carlos can see through timelines because apparently being an esper is so easy nowadays you just get into a burning building to achieve super human abilities. And no it doesn’t make sense in the slightest. If a burning building is able to awake Carlos’s powers then the whole training with radical 6 while making Sigma absorb other esper’s strength was a pointless. Heck why did Akane train Sigma instead of Carlos. It’s obvious who is the stronger esper here. And there is no explanation as to why Carlos or Sigma or any of the character possess such strong ability genetically. And the whole resonance nonsense contradict VLR heavily. If espers could shift in groups and they strengthen each other why didn’t Akane collect all of the espers from the remaining 2 billion people and shift to the past to save the world? Resonance makes the killing game in VLR look stupid. And junpei how the hell do you know about the dice rolls. IT'S A DIFFERENT TIMELINE. And don’t you guys dare tell me it was because of the morphogenetic field. If they had access to the field then why don’t they use the field to gather the X passes instead of shifting and killing their other versions.Akane why don’t you realize that you murdered all of D team when you activated that bomb. And you are also killing the dice roll versions of yourself. Just playing the decision game was the better option. Why are you doing this? And those idiots. Just jump to the timeline before the start of the game and warn everyone else so you can capture zero. Or wait even BETTER. Jump way back to your childhood so that Akane can save her mother and father so that she would never be abducted by Gentarou. Carlos can also save his parents too. Why don't these idiots understand they have self aware time travel? And yes they can do that. In VLR Sigma was able to jump back about 36 hours ( 14 hours in radical 6 time ) into the past without the memories and soon after he mastered it he went back 45 years into the past and when he got old he jumped 45 years into the past again and inhabited his body. And in ZTD sigma can’t remember his jumps cause of the amnesia while Akane and Carlos can which suggests that Akane and Carlos are stronger than him. And junpei can jump thanks to the asspull resonance effect. And that god damn meat shield plan. How in the world did that work? That minigun can break through bones and meat just like it broke through that thick wooden bar. And I seriously doubt the bullets didn’t hit Akane through the gap between Carlos and Junpei body cause their body doesn’t cover her fully. Akane can now Shift whenever she wants. Screw the rules the plot is demanding it. God nooo. Everything about the ring scene was wrong. This isn’t what I was hyping for. They resolved absolutely nothing of their relationship. Akane murdered 3 people, straight up lied to junpei, risked many people’s lives. And he never questions it my god. Wasn’t the whole reason you were putting your proposal to Akane at halt was because you wanted to know more about akane or test her? Or was it because you were just a pussy? And Junpei just chose the worst possible moment to propose which is after akane saw their dead bodies and having an argument with him. Literally anytime other than this would have been fine. Their relationship has become a shallow, gullible , unrealistic bullshit. I can’t believe I was hyping this relationship for 5 f-ing years. And also what’s up with the Q bot? Zero never said that they shouldn’t use their shifting ability and isn’t this kind of contradictory to Delta’s motive since he is trying to lead them to J team execution timeline? If they die beforehand VLR won’t be created. And Carlos why the hell is shifting your best option? You do realize that Q bot will destroy Akane and Junpei while your away. Ahh well nothing actually matters in the context of multiverse anyway. And with that I have covered every C team fragment. I’ll post the continuation of the review of this timeline in the next version of the review/rant. So until then goodbye folks and plz comment if I missed some criticism.
  2. I know it won't be that good. I will just outline all of the plot and leave it so that the fanfiction writers could use it. It doesn't matter if it becomes an actual novel or not it's completely fan based . I will be really happy if someone did write a few dramatic scenes but that's about it.
  3. Fanfiction. i will just outline all of the plot and post it on ZE related communities. The writing part is completely voluntery. Fans themselves would write the part they wish. So it's basically fans creating the 3rd installment themselves since Uchikoshi trolled us. But i still would love it if you Uchikoshi gave me money for the ideas and recreated the game. Never hurts to dream i guess.
  4. *Spoilers for all 3 games (999,VLR,ZTD) * Zero time dilemma is a disappointing finale for the series. The previous games had their issues but I saw it as a very creative story. I appreciated the structure and effort put into it. But not ZTD. I am thoroughly disappointed with the game so I’m making my own version of the story and will outline all of the plot giving you guys the 3rd installment we all needed and deserved. This is gonna be a huge project. So please take your time to read. So first things first. I’m your host bilguun alix nickname: slakroid. And I would like to first inform you that Alternative time dilemma is not an official name for the story. I’m thinking of “Zero time God’s rain” as an official name. And before you guys start making fun of the name let me tell you that it’s an anagram. I’ll leave it to you guys to figure the meaning out. This project is solely about what’s gonna happen rather than how they are gonna happen. Meaning that some events that happen in this story might feel a bit off from lack of detail. So with no further a due let’s begin. Setting So the remake of ZTD Altrenative time dilemma (ATD for short) will NOT include the end or beginning of VLR as a cannon material. I know many people wanted it to be a thing but let’s be honest here ? is pretty OP and Kyle, alice, clover going to the past is just hard to pull off without an asspull. And it’s better this way. Less time travel shenanigans the better. Unlike ZTD ATD will NOT feature: · The transporter · Mind hacking ( although something similar but believable will replace it) · The Sean robots ( because in 2028 I don’t think AI would have developed to that extent) · Time specific memory eraser ( but there will be an concentrated amnesia drug) · Virtual wall texture · FBR · And many other nonsense The decision game’s name is changed into “ the nonaroot game”( because calling the death game that has decision in it the decision game is just lazy. However the mini death games that takes place in the game will be called the decision game). Nona means nine and root describes the mathematical root. The root of 9 is 3 which is the same number the x door allows people to get out at best. Thus it is named the nonaroot game. The nonaroot game will take place in the Dcom facility. In other words the bomb shelter in ZTD is part of Dcom now. Well, it doesn’t have to be that exact shelter but will have enough space and equipment for the game. The reason for conducting the Dcom experiment: Although it is said to be for the manned mars mission test( and the workers there believed it to be) it was actually financed by the second Zero in order to lure the espers and shifters. The explanation of Morphogenetic field powers: There are 4 types of Morphogenetic field users. Espers, Shifters, Advanced espers and Reverie syndrome patients (RS patients for short) First of all Sigma and Phi are going to be the only ones who are capable of shifting through time ( though they will probably not use it in this story). Akane and Junpei’s morphogenetic field (MGF for short) connection through time is an ability that very seldom people can use and will be achieved only once in a lifetime. In other words it is considered to be an asspull and will not be used further in the story. Shifters do not have the ability to connect another person via MGF connection. In other words Sigma cannot do what Clover and Snake can do. Both Shifters and espers use the MGF to shift or connect. Shfiting is the vertical usage of MGF. They cannot connect to other people but are able to connect to different versions of themselves in the past and switch places. Connecting is the horizontal usage of MGF. They can’t jump through time but are able to connect to other people. Shifters can only shift to the history they have experienced. In other words Sigma or Phi can’t shift to point E because they haven’t experienced that timeline yet. It could also mean that a shifter can’t shift to the past event he/she has forgotten about( mainly because of amnesia). Advanced esper is a new term that is going to be used in this story. Normal espers who were able to perfect their ability through hundreds of years gain this power. They become extremely good at transmitting and receiving to the point that they are able to attack someone’s brain making them dizzy, sleepy or make them feel extreme pain in their head. They are also able to read other people’s memories by the help of a special machine ( basically a replacement for mind hacking). RS patients are similar to what was said in ZTD. Due to the overdrive of the MGF people who haven’t mastered their esper powers go down with this disease. They get tons of information from the MGF and because of it they stay in a dreamy paralyzed state. However in ATD if people who have potential to use the MGF spends a lot of time near the RS patients they awaken their powers. In 2028 RS patients are rapidly increasing. The reason for RS patients multiplication is that the human population is rising and because of it the number of espers are rising ( Basically the stuff that was informed in 999. The more people experience something that experience will be easily tapped by others). Stronger MGF user absorbs weaker MGF user’s powers (VLR stuff is cannon). It goes along like this: Espers < Shifters < Advanced espers < RS patients The above explanations of the MGF powers will be explained to the other participants and players/readers by Akane and Sigma. Sigma will explain to Phi and Akane how Shifting differs from normal esper powers. Akane will explain why MGF connection through time will not work to junpei during their team talk before the vote. Advanced esper and RS patients will be explained by Zero 2 in the true end. The Nonaroot game J team – Team junpei Junpei , Akane , Yamada( new character) E team – Team Enin (new character) Enin (new character) , Carlos (different) , Nina ( new character) D team – Team Diana Diana, Sigma, Phi The coin toss part will be completely skipped because it would be useless and will contradict the twist in this story. Unlike ZTD the three teams will be in different wards. I like the “they were all in the same ward twist” but even without the twist the plot can go on and a technology that can make virtual walls is just far fetched for 2028. Plus the layer of the walls will feel different if the participants examine it so even more reason not to use the twist. The voting system will take place just like ZTD. However in ATD the whole team wouldn’t be executed if they get two votes. Instead the team with 2 votes will receive a penalty. The team that is penalized must kill one of their teammate otherwise the entire team would be killed. There would be multi team sections in the game where different teams band together for a round until their bracelets inject them with sophoril. It will play out like this: If J team is penalized, E team and D team will work together. If E team is penalized, J team and D team will work together. If D team is penalized, J team and E team will work together. After the multi team section is over in the next round all of the remaining players will work together. If none of the team is penalized they will play the press the button decision game. If all of them don’t push the button then all 9 of them will work together until the end of the game. Characters Junpei Last name: Tenmyouji Gender: male Age: 22 Personality: Playful in mundane situations, serious in times of tension, kind, honest, naïve, loyal, protective for his loved ones. Traits: Funyarinpa worshiper, loves to tell jokes, loves to roast Akane, Ability / skills: Creative thinking, hand to hand combat skill - lvl 3, esper power, Background: After the events of 999 junpei felt betrayed and confused but he still wanted to see Akane and confirm who she really was. He got out of school and searched for her. Thanks to Seven he found out that Akane was a mastermind of an organization called Crash keys. Seven warned him that Akane is not the one who he thinks she is and it is better to stop running after her. Junpei argued that he will never stop his search until he proves it with his own eyes. Hearing this Seven got furious and reminded him that she is a murderer and done many horrible things. Although Junpei knew Seven was telling the truth he ignored him. After many months of searching without any results he received a letter. In the letter the sender wrote that Akane was joining Dcom and Junpei should apply for the experiment too. After hesitating for a long period of time he decided to trust the letter and bought a ring still not sure whether he should give it to her or not. He then applied for the Dcom experiment. Comment: As you can see he is not EDGY junpei. Although I enjoyed EDGY junpei’s personality and thought that it was adding depth to the bland old lover boy the fact that his character development happened off screen and had nothing to do with the nonary game is just silly. Not to mention a normal brat entering the underground is ridiculous. So I’m going with normal junpei. Akane Last name: Kurashiki Gender: Female Age: 22 Personality: Machivelion, manipulative, playful when trying to lighten the mood or manipulating someone, good at lying and acting, noble during mundane situation, serious during tension, confident in herself, Traits: Loves to ramble about scientific facts, loves alcohol but doesn’t want to admit it, occasionally makes fun of others Ability / Skills: Logical thinking, Hand to hand combat skill – lvl 5( thanks to Crash keys martial arts training) esper powers, mathematical calculation, ability to fake emotion or hide emotion. Background: From birth she had been living with her mother Rikona and her brother Aoi. When she was four years old a terrible event has happened to her life. When Akane was going to travel with the bullet train with her mother and brother she sensed something felt off and immediately ran out of the train. Aoi ran after her but her mother was left in the bulletin train and the train moved. Aoi scolded her for doing something so stupid and together they begged money from strangers until they had enough cash to catch the next train. But after they had caught the train they soon found out that the train her mother was in had a terrible accident. Because of her mother’s death and no one to take care of them they became orphans. First they were doing nothing but begging and asking people to let them stay in their home. When Akane was 6 years old she went to the public school that was funded by the state. There she fell in love with a boy named Junpei. When Aoi was 9 years old he spent most of his time doing part time jobs. He was also studying stockbroking during his free time in order to find more money. However after graduating elementary school she and his brother were kidnapped by the Cradle Pharmaceutical. When she was kidnapped in order to participate in the first nonary game she was switched with a kid whose ability was to receive. This is because the two of the blackmen who helped carry the kids decided to switch the name plates so that they could carry Akane themselves to the Gigantic. The two men carried her to the ship’s third class cabin and raped her when the authority wasn’t paying attention leaving her shocked. When the game started and the room started to fill with water. She decided to do nothing and die since she lost her innocence. Right when she was close to drowning she saw Junpei solving the exact same puzzle. Her body moved on it’s own and copied junpei. During the flash backs she was able to see Snake, Clover, Seven and Lotus’s, future Aoi and her future self faces. She figured that she must have created a similar game in the future. After escaping the ship thanks to Junpei Akane swore to take revenge on CP members and started hating her weaknesses. Akane and Aoi won tons of money through the stock market. But even that wasn’t enough to recreate the nonary game. She spent the next 5 years improving her mathematical and calculating skills. She also learned martial arts quite well during that time. Later Akane went into the drug dealing business without Aoi’s permission. Aoi knew about this a year later and they had a harsh quarrel about it. But Akane won the argument and continued to do it. After another year Akane had enough power to start the game and officially announced her organization as Crash keys. But before that she kidnapped some of the henchmen that helped Cradle Pharmaceutical kidnap the kids. Beneath these men were the 2 who shamed her . She then sadistically killed all of them for their crime. After that event Aoi and Akane had an argument again. This time even more intense. During the argument Aoi slapped her in the face for taking pointless revenge but Akane persisted that they deserved it and reminded him who was the leader of the organization. Aoi was shocked to see that her sister had turned into a different person and their relationship started to fall apart. 4 months after the events of 999 Aoi got severely injured because of an accident that occurred while he was helping the construction of the Crash keys hideout and died a week later. Akane fell depressed after the event and started drinking a lot. She would put up a strong face by not speaking with anyone and would only do her job. But her act only lasted for a few weeks. Soon she felt extreme loneliness. In order to not spend her time alone she would start partying or drinking with the CK members. And slept with some of the men in order to feel love and warmth. But she would always feel regret and disgust after each affair. Comment: Behold! The REAL worst heroine. I bet you didn’t expect that huh? But I’ll assure you unlike Diana and Eric’s backstory in ZTD it’s not edge for the sake of edge. It is required for the character to develop and to be grey. Plus it’s gonna create some drama in the decision game. Yamada Last name: Akatsuki (sounds a bit narutoish but it fits given the fact that ZTD takes place during the red moon eclipse) Gender: male Age: 48 Personality: Selfish, horny, playful, doesn’t give a damn about most stuff but kind hearted beneath the skin, Calm and easy going during mundane situations, Angry and troubled during tension, Traits Loves to drink and smoke, swears a lot, Ability / skills: Esper powers, hand to hand combat skill - lvl 3, bike riding skills(which is useless in the game), Background: Back when he was a kid he would always slack off and didn’t take any responsibility for his actions. He started drinking and smoking at the age of 17 and spent most of his time going after girls and partying with his gang. During one of his bike rides he was struck by a lightning. And went to the hospital but luckily survived. The accident awakened his esper powers which allowed him to sense whether his loved ones are in danger. Few years after the accident he fell in love with a woman called Rikona (means intelligence in Japanese) Kurashiki After marrying her at the age of 24 they had a child named Aoi. However he soon realized that he never loved the girl and it was just a young man’s curiosity that led to the marriage. He got sick of the family life, started constantly arguing with Rikona and understood that he would never be a truly good father. After living for two years together they divorced. Little did he know that Rikona was pregnant. Four years later (when he was 30) he sensed that something terrible had happened to Rikona. He then tried to find about her whereabouts for a week and finally succeeded only to know that she had died 3 days ago. Apparently her death was caused because of a catastrophic bullet train crash. The investigation team told him that they didn’t found the body of a boy named Aoi but they also said that some of the bodies were so messed up that they couldn’t be identified. From this Yamada deduced that his son must have died during the accident. After that he got depressed and drowned himself in liquor only to realize that he truly loved Rikona and his son Aoi. Reason for existing in the story: 1. Excuses Akane and Aoi’s esper powers 2. Enhances Akane’s character 3. Neutralizes J team’s morality ( yamada- selfish, junpei-caring, Akane- neutral) 4. Contributes to the drama and adds his own subplot. 5. Excuses Akane’s drinking habit, lol. Comment: A mature version of Edgy junpei. Might look like an asshole but caring on the inside. Plus some drama revolving Akane. Enin ( read backwards and you get a “nine”) Last name: Musashidou Gender: male Age: 24 Personality: Aggressive during tension, serious during mundane situations, prideful, honest, caring for his loved ones, easy to get angry Ability / skills: Hand to hand combat skill lvl 3, esper power, Background: He is the only son of Kagechika Musashidou. When he was a child he always admired his father for being a very successful businessman. Kagechika would also spend time with him during the weekends. He would always lecture Enin to work hard so that one day he can inherit his property. Enin truly loved and respected his father and would always follow his advices. However he did not know that his father was conducting experiment on children. The reason Kagechika funded Ace’s project “the nonary game” was because: 1. he knew that his wife had similar abilities. Otherwise he would never had considered supporting such a fantasy. 2. Free the soul was suggesting him to do it. He was one of the members of free the soul. It was thanks to free the soul that he had this much fortune to begin with. Ace later joined free the soul after executing the experiment. After funding the nonary game Kagechika started to spend a lot of money in gambling. His wealth was decreasing so was his connection to his family. About 6 years later Enin couldn’t stand his father’s behavior and scolded him for losing so much money and not spending time with his family. Kagechika understood his mistake and stopped gambling since. About 5 months before the events of 999 Enin’s mother was diseased with the reverie syndrome. Kagechika spent a lot of money for her cure and the doctors tried their best but to no avail. Enin would spend most of his free time taking care of his mother. Because of this he was able to awaken his esper powers which was inherited from his mother. In order to raise more money and start his next business Kagechika borrowed a lot of money from other millionares. But just when his business was going smooth the events of 999 happened and he was killed by Ace and indirectly by Akane. During the time Kagechika was killed. Enin knew something terrible had happened to his father due to his esper powers. And he soon found out about the death of his father. This event left Enin and her ill mother with a huge debt. Enin couldn’t believe that he had fell down from rich to poor so easily. But more than that he was anxious to take revenge on the killer who had killed his beloved father and left him in situation like this. He stopped going to college and worked really hard in order to find money and take care of her mother. But there was no way his salary would pay for the debt. Just when all hope seemed to be lost a letter was sent to him. It was written in the letter that the sender knew who killed his father and he would tell Enin who the killer is only if Enin joins the Dcom experiment. Not only that but he also informs that the Dcom experiment will earn Enin a lot of money which would pay his debt. After hesitating a bit Enin decided to join the Dcom experiment in order to find the culprit who murdered his father and gain money to pay the huge debt. Reason for existing in the story: 1. Enhances the drama 2. Makes Kagechika a more prominent character 3. Shows the consequences of Akane’s actions 4. Adds his own subplot Comment: So yeah. Mr I want my revenge is here. But he is excused for being in the game and helps 999’s revenge subplot develop into a theme. Plus he adds his own sub plot and overall kinda cool unlike Eric. Think of him as a noble version of Santa. And since this is a teaser. I'll end it here. But i'll upload the full outline soon enough. So until then let the hype train commence.
  5. I’ve realized that I actually experienced a lot of stories written by Uchikoshi. So I thought that I should share my thoughts on his works and analyze his abilities as a writer. I have played Never7( 40%), Ever 17 (20 % probably), ZE franchise (100%) and watched Punchline(100%). Pros Good characterization One of the reasons I think ZE franchise is better than danganronpa is because the characters feel a lot realistic and their personalities are rich. You can never explain the character’s personality with few simple words because they act differently in different situations. Now of course there are some exceptions to this. But you get the general feeling that most of the characters are human. Well informed and knowledgeable about scientific theories and facts Probably one of the biggest reasons why 999 and VLR surprised me immensely when I first played it. Uchikoshi was backing up the supernatural elements with many interesting scientific phenomenon and it was amazing. I have never witnessed these kinds of stories at the time. ZTD and Punchline doesn’t have them but hey you can’t spam everything you know about science into everything you create. Knows about human behavior action/reaction. Especially in 999 and VLR you could notice that the character’s behaviors fit well with their personality and during a murder investigation and solving puzzles they had the least amount of out of character moments. The reason I didn’t say he knew very well is because of ZTD’s Yandere Akane. Why oh god why would you do that? Good at handling mood shifts Stuffing tons of jokes in a horrible death game that toys with human life without breaking the immersion and destroying the atmosphere does take skill. In ZTD you could see that the jokes and funny character interaction happening at the start of the game. However when the game gets series those moments are completely cut down. The same with the other games. Amazingly good at foreshadowing and misguiding. His second strongest asset of writing. Things such as 9th man yelling “he killed me” or Phi shouting “Grandpa” truly did surprised me when I replayed the games. Even in Punchline you could see in the first episode that there was tons of foreshadowing But sadly the good parts end here. Now onto the bad parts. Cons Fan service and fetishes Dancer fetish in 999, Egyption fetish in VLR, Hooker fetish in ZTD and VLR(Clover). Pucnhline is a disgusting ecchi bullshit. Never 7 and Ever 17 are date simulators. Being a man means being horny but at least respect the players and the characters will ya. And this problem gets bigger when you notice that the fan service characters end up being the least developed. Little attention to world building and society As you all know most of zero escape’s plot revolves around death games. But we need to see what is happening outside of the death games. How did the world react to the kidnapping and death of the Cradle P’s leaders? What kind of technology they use in 2027? How did the radical 6 tragedy play out? So on and so on. These are important stuff. Poor attention to character backstory Uchikoshi has this weird belief that he has to show the players only what happens in the present. Never show what happened in the past. Only talk what happened in the past. From what I know the three characters that suffered from this the most are Akane, Sigma and Junpei in ZTD. Junpei got a character development off screen! You could even make a series about Junpei and his thug life. Sigma spent 45 years preparing for ZTD yet he feels so naïve and uninformed. What kind of training was he been through? What type of mindset he had when he created the events of VLR. Akane is probably the most vaguely written character in the entire series. If Akane is your favorite character then why won’t you show how she became so rich and powerful. Show us what she has been through and what was in her mind during 999. Instead we got ZTD Akane which is June disguised as Akane. BULLSHIT. Punchline is even worse. A villain’s backstory is glossed over. Why do you have to do this? Shock effect and plot twists over consistency Uchikoshi is a dreamer. He dreams of making the impossible possible and his stories suffer a lot because of it. You can’t excuse a person not being able to notice that he is an old man. Nor you can excuse a person being out of screen the whole time. Because that’s impossible to excuse and will only contradict what you have built so far. Plot twists in ZE serve as cheap shock effect. And the shock effect comes with a price of tons of contradictions. Addiction to time travel By far the greatest problem I have with Uchikoshi’s story. All of his works I MEAN all of them are related to time travel. Why oh why would you keep doing this? I know he is a hardcore science fan boy but timetravel is the one thing that can fuck up any story with ease. And all of ZE’s masterminds have motivations that has to do with time travel. I posted a while ago about the biggest plot hole in all 3 zero escape games and this was it. And come on, If you had free will to travel through time you could accomplish anything. It literally ruins the conflict. Besides it’s useless to try changing anything when there are infinite timelines. On top of all that time travel promotes ESCAPISM. Yeah man just escape to a different reality leaving your loved ones behind and cheat in life by reseting your mistakes. Cancerous themes… speaking of themes Lack of theme exploration This is the reason why I never think Uchikoshi highly anymore. I love Hideaki Anno who created Neon genesis Evangelion and Yuasa Masaki who created Tatmi Galaxy( anime). The themes about, anti escapism, self worth, regret, human connection, and the meaning of life is amazing. Uchikoshi doesn’t do that. The concept of time travel, 4th dimension, morphogenetic connection are NOT themes. Those are just cool brainstorming ideas that has nothing to do with our life. Themes are like direct but immensely detailed advices. They change the way you percieve life. His stories on the other hand are like a puzzle game. Once you finish playing it it loses it’s value. It’s fun and exciting alright but it never changes your mentality. You feel like you changed but that’s because of the emotional roller coaster. Those are just after effect of the shock and will fade away. Verdict Overall Uchikoshi does have potential as a writer. But you see, he never takes his job seriously. This is why despite my fondness of his ideas and death games. Despite my love for his iconic scenes and characters I still don’t rate him highly. There is a reason why the world’s most highly claimed writers seldom use time travel and crazy twists in their story. They focus on character mentality, consistency, theme exploration more. And this is why Uchikoshi is inferior to them.
  6. Summer is closing in and every cool boys and girls are hyped for zero escape time dilemma . But I want to say sorry to you all because I’m not going to hype the fuck out of it. Instead I will write a critical review which reveals some bullshit Uchikoshi ran away with. Let’s start with 999 shall we?* HUGE SPOILERS SO NO COMPLAINTS IF YOU RUIN YOUR EXPIERIENCE OKAY? * Overall VLR might seem like an epic tale but in reality it is a trainwreck. Noting makes sense and I bet ZE3 will have a hard time covering up it’s bullshit. I give VLR as score of 6.7/10( above average) just because it introduced interesting brainstorming ideas and had some great characters. Despite all the things I said I am still pretty hyped for ZE3. But I think it will be really hard to wrap things up. Until the game releases you can bitch about how it will make sense later on in the comments.
  7. Long ago when your SAO and high school of the dead were thankfully not made, Lawrence a travelling merchant meets a hot sexy naked wolf girl who doesn’t have a nipples for some reason. *clears throat* And due to her request Lawrence decides to take her to Disneyland I mean her hometown. Be prepared for all of the economical talk where you rewatch a scene five times and you still don’t understand. You may act like you understand like most people or you could be honest and say your confused…just like me. But don’t worry this isn’t an educational anime because there are tons fun activities such as Talking Teasing Beating the shit out of milleon trading guild’s men I don’t know about you but this is way more exciting than the latest episodes of naruto shippuden. Watch Holo and Lawrence go through trials and errors as they trick people to gain money, getting themselves in trouble and building a hot steaming relationship. Dude what are you waiting for she said she wanted to mate with you. Just go do it, it’s a chance of a lifetime. What are you doing, NO NO. Don’t you dare run away I’ve been waiting this for 10 episodes. What you gay? Go back, just, just, AHHHh. You will be bored when you start this anime but you won’t be able to live without it once you set foot. Ahh that was a nice way to end the season. Now onto season 3. Wait WHAT? There’s no season three?!, That’s bullshit, what about the romance, what about the fanfictions. NO I just can’t take it. I WANT MY SEASON THREE RIGHT NOOOOOW. GIVE IT TO MEEE GIVE ITT TOO MEEE. Mom: Calm down it’s just a show. NO YOU don’t understand MAAA. Holo is love Holo is life. I even bought this Holo pillow from amazon. Mom: So that’s where my money went. I’ll teach you what happens when you steal. Ouch ouch “Starring” *sniff* Lawrence vi Britania Your first *sniff* prideful furry erection Ookami to Cliffhanger I’m sorry *sniff* It’s just that I really wanted that happy ending. Guess I’ll read the light novels now.
  8. The following is written for pure entertainment purposes. Spoilers below. Directed by the infamous Shinichiro Watanabe who gave us shows like Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo comes an anime original that will save the modern anime industry, ZANKYOU NO TERROR. An anime that has an amazing original premise about terrorism, it would have stayed original if they didn't try to copy Death note. A show that has a deep hidden messages like: America is evil, blowing buildings are good unless you kill someone, cops are freakin bad at their job. Meet the most memorable cast that you will never forget Like: Nine- a generic genius who doesn't really talk a lot. Twelve- a generic bad boy who fells in love with a wuss Lisa- a generic damsel in distress who is only good for being cute Shibazaki- a generic detective who knows way too much about greek mythology. Five- a generic antagonist whose engurish will make your ears bleed. Get ready for MAPPA production's almost unlimited budget works. They will make you beg for more cause they can make falling buildings look astonishingly beautiful, they can make driving a motorcycle look even more hardcore. But they have problems on animating a walking person. Beware of thousands of angry Watanabe fans as they shout out why he directed such a shitty anime when other shows that are airing in 2014 are even shitier. Behold a soundtrack so fantastic, so eargasming you will ask yourself: why am i still listening to K pop. Starring Osama bin Ladin junior as Nine Male Nice from Baccano as Twelve Elise from sonic 06 as Lisa IQlock greekmes as Shibazaki hououin kyouma + Daru as Five ZANKYOU NO TERROR. I always knew Brack Obama was up to something.
  9. Wow that is really rough As for me my dad and i played 999 together. I translated the text from english to my native language and then the elevator scene came up. Just try to translate that scene loudly if you are not from england or america
  10. zankou no terror. That is all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmqRsIudBII
  11. i really appreciate the zero escape series and it has the most interesting story telling i've ever seen. But what i noticed after playing this game THREE times is that it has few ???plot holes??? that i have found or believe to be unrealistic. So with no further stalling let's begin 1. In the knife/safe ending clover goes through door 1 along with seven and lotus and i believe that she encountered musashidou. Some people said she killed him, some say santa and june removed him. WTF is up with that??? We need more explanation. 2. In the submarine end ace kills all of the players but we never know why was the sun door open. Did june had a spare key? did she ran over there for not spoiling the player?. 3. I know that ace has prosopognosia but he shouldn't have mistaken nijisaki with snake. Last time i checked prosopognosia is a disease which makes you unable to identify faces NOT HAIRSTYLE. 4. In the axe end Clover did freaked us all out but how was she able to kill seven santa and june? she's somehow an axe wielding genius fighter, sure but there is no way seven will go down from one hit. Even if he did santa still could have stopped her. Some people suggest that she killed them while santa was sitting on the torture chair which is reasonable but then again NUMBERED DOOR HAS A ONE WAY OUT. Meaning that it's impossible for her to come back that way if she was in the puzzle room. I've read the uchikoshi kotaro san's QA but i still couldn't bring myself to believe this 4 events. anybody got any theories or other explanations?
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYEAaRo0ZCg So long so good. Finally tokyo ghoul season 2 has arrived. One of the things i realized from the first episode is that- OMG THE OPENING WHYYYYYY? The new opening wasn't that BAD but it wasn't quite as good as i was expecting. I know the lyrics does make sense but the art style and the song didn’t fit the show. The animation is great like always, there aren't many things that changed. But i think that kaneki's kagune wasn’t displayed like the final episode of the first season. AND I DON’T KNOW A GOD DAMN CLUE WHY KANEKI JOINED THE AOGIRI. No spoiling please. As for my prediction it’s either kaneki has something up his sleeve or his personality changed completely and now he wants to be a bad guy. From what I heard the author is keeping an eye on the show so I have high faith in this new season. What do you guys think?

  16. and miserably fail Me too i would also would try 999. It should be something like this: Firstly i don't want it to be too rushed like danganronpa. Explain the theories to the watchers SLOWLY. And then develop the characters and advance the plot SMOOOOOTHLY. What about the multiple endings you ask? Then first make the safe end(puzzle section can be a montage). after making the safe end go back to the first choice and go through true path. After finishing the anime make OVA's about the bad endings.
