  1. This whole situation feels bizarre. On one hand, I know that you mean well and want to have more representation in VNs or whatever, but on the other hand, you've stated that this has caused you to spiral into depression. Plus, you've stated that you're not even black. As someone who is half-black, I'm gonna be a bit blunt. If there were more VNs with diversity, it would make me a bit happier but it wouldn't change as many things as you'd think. Especially with how niche VNs are in general, this idea would probably work significantly better if you were talking about making a film or something along those lines. Or even something like an RPG. Most people would be seeking representation in those mediums rather than VNs just due to how niche VNs are, especially in America and Europe. I'm not saying you can't do this, but you're overthinking the effects of such a project. If you're still determined to go through with this, all I ask is that you work as hard as possible to do what you need to do to make this work. If you don't have the funds, then make it a one man project. Learn how to make a good story and learn the fundamentals of what makes a good visual novel and then go from there. You'll only end up getting more depressed/getting nowhere if you don't. I'd rather play a VN that looks a bit rough but is otherwise good than play a VN that looks good but is boring as all hell/fails to deliver its message. It'd take a shit load of time and effort, but that's just how it is. You can't just wish this kind of thing into existence. If you truly want something, then waiting around and begging isn't going to do anything. You have to do it by yourself.

  2. Are you that desperate so much that you decided to write some unproven statement that having role model in VN would increase the economy of a country? I afraid that this time I must be blunt by saying that you didn't do this for the sake of African American like you always said, but it's merely for the sake of yourself who always order us to help you in any way to fulfill your own wish that even not reasonable seeing that you're just Asian instead of African American like many of us think (Also even if you're African American your campaign would still raise some question). Let me give you some suggestion by saying that you should try to quit your obsession of having black skinned MC in the VN, or otherwise you can chose to trap yourself in self-created depression forever. Your choice. PS - I know that you did ask JAST USA to making a VN with black skinned MC, so let me give you some reminder that JAST USA is just a publisher of the translated Japanese VNs and obviously not some company that you can freely command to make a specific VN that you want. PPS - After I read the so-called benefit for African American, let me say that your statement is quite shallow as in you just believe that African American need some role model in VN to lift their spirit, where in fact they can also has many real life role model to lift their spirit just like any people in the world are. Also when it come to VN, some if not most would probably won't self insert into the MC shoes so I don't think that race is really matter much when it come to the MC in the VNs.

  4. I can say that your persistence is impressive and admirable in a way. While granted people can suffer from severe depression, not everyone depressed over the same thing like you so unfortunately you won't get anything that can cure your depression even if you ask for help here, especially when your cause of depression is looks so small to the most if not all of the people. That said, I know that depression is really a serious matter regardless on whether the cause is big or small, so I'll just suggest you to read this article in order to help you to cope with the depression and I hope it'll help you even if it's only at the slightest bit. PS - Actually you shouldn't throw the word depression easily here, but whatever.

  5. Most VN are japanese, that's why there's barely any woke diversity and all that, because that country haven't been tainted with such needless political conflict, as far as i know at least. And if you're talking about having a problems with VN that has anime artstyle then. The only race anime have is simply anime, no causcasian, latinos, asians, africans etc. if you have problems with anime, just treat them as it own thing, they all have the same oversize eyes and unnatural body structure, just treat them as a completely different fictional beings like dwarve or elf if you're really that desperate to have something to project yourself on. As for your complaint for not having a girlfriend, well wether you're young or not, like the comment above, just go outside and socialize, just try, and if you made a bad first impression with strangers then that's okay, don't think too much about it cuz what's the worse could've happen? And one last advice from a stranger, don't mix any IRL politics such as diversity with video games, it'll do nothing but ruining your experiences just like what you doing now, just don't think much about it, play the games enjoy the story, and try not to project any IRL politics you have in your head into the game you're playing, just disregard those thoughts thanos snap it if you can. and please, don't use VN or any video games to cope with your personal problems, just think about how you can improve your life, remember there are millions of solutions to any problems, and you just have to search for one

  6. Man, please don't... This is so cringe. You're turning a good idea into this weird social activism exercise that will appeal only to people that are already in your narrow niche and scare off everyone else. The indie VN community in the West is already very progressive. It doesn't need this virtue signalling and if you think there's some forms of diversity/representation that are too rare, remedy that by action (making your VN the way you feel is appropriate) and promoting games that already fit it (I assure you, if you look at game jams such as NaNoRenO or Yuri Game Jam and commercial projects by devs that show up there, you'll find plenty of diversity). And really, you should be talking to other devs about this stuff, in places such as Lemma Soft and VN Devs subreddit. That's where you could make a difference.

  7. I am not black, but guess what, neither am I japanese, and that doesn't stand in the way of my enjoyment of japanese VNs. In the same way I can't see why having a black MC, or a MC of any race, ethnicity or culture would be relevant for me. Just so happens that japanese VNs are mostly set in Japan, and in Japan, well, most people are asian, therefore you get asian MCs most of the times. Fairly obvious isn't it? But I think it's still worth pointing out. That being said, I DO think I would be put off if I see an EVN whose main point they are trying to advertise is the fact that it features a black MC, because what that tells me is that the authors are likely to care more about identity politics than telling a story they consider worthy of being told. The natural outcome of any story taking place in a culturally diverse place (which Japan isn't) would be to have a culturally diverse cast unless there's specific reasons that prevents it. It's a statistical fact. If more english speaking fellas start writing VNs and the setting is, let's say, The States, black MCs would naturally start to pop up, and I think that's how it has to happen.
