  1. Oh god I think I'm gonna become hella spoiled by Yuzusoft I forgot that they actually put in the effort to change character sprites to go in tandem with what whatever the characters are currently saying. Bless whoever they hired that has enough OCD to take the time to do all of that. It actually makes me want to listen to the entire dialogue rather than doing my whole min/maxing sweetspot reading because it really does amplify the reading experience significantly. ~~ Anyways I ended up going for Riddle Joker, cuz I need me some high school superpowers Friggen' Himawari, bless its the-whole-is-greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts-cough-Aqua-Best-Girl took a whopping the entirety of Episode One+Two for me to finally settle down and really start enjoying the narrative for what it was, but Riddle Joker was instant hook line and sinker for me and I'm enjoying everything right off the bat. Protagonist is (first) Satoru Arihara, a combat-capable-but-slacking-in-studies realist high school boy and he's part of a secret organization of "Astrals" who seek to use their powers for the greater good, vigilante style. His latest mission: to infiltrate the nation's first prominent Astral education/research facility. He has a younger sister, too. Foster sister. Nanami Arihara. And man, every VN I'm reading lately is making me realize I'm simply the siscon type, godhelpme, Nanami is fantastic. She's the well meaning younger-than-protagonist-but-responsible/mature-enough-that-she-essentially-takes-care-of-him-like-an-older-sister-type, but she's very, very shy/introverted around others and will have her vulnerable moments where she'll call "Satoru-kun" the coveted "Onii-chan" instead. She's also Satoru's partner in crime in the secret organization they're in, so they have that dynamic going on for them as well. Jeez, what more can you ask for in a brother/sister relationship? I'd go straight back to sleep all day errday, just so I could get awakened again and again and again by such a kawaii sister lel. But step aside Nanami, first impression best girl hands down goes to: Ayase Mitsukasa. Anyone who knows me, knows pink is an automatic win, no questions asked. Pink, responsible role model, student council president...all this is about as common and standard as it gets but I shall never tire of it heh. Now, I would've been fine with Ayase as is because I'm ez, but hoh boy this oughta be fun(SLIGHT SPOILERS):

  2. Here is from Nekonyan's blog late March regarding Dracu Riot. So a HD remaster seems to be what is holding it up at the moment. "Wow, this list got pretty short, huh? Wait I think I’m missing one… Oh, right! I guess this is a good place to start for today. Dracu Riot, huh. You guys have been waiting very patiently for a really long time for this game, and we know you want to know what the holdup is. We’ve seen the comments don’t worry. There IS a reason for it, however, and we can finally talk about it now! The truth is… Dracu Riot is getting a full HD Remaster and re-release in JP as well as in English! Fortunately, Yuzusoft had the original super high res assets, so we’re going to be working on getting the entire game rebuilt from the ground up with high res assets and a new UI. It will be on our Unity engine and receive a total upgrade, including the same features you see in newer Yuzusoft projects, voice bookmarking, and more! Meow is currently working on the Clover Days port, once that is complete, he will begin the work of porting and implementing the new features for Dracu Riot! Hopefully, this will make it worth the wait for you!"

  3. > 1 yen per 1 character (depending on experience). Crediting as the translator of the product. Access to the original version of the products you are asked to translate. 0.9 cents per character, wonderful offer innit? Actually worse than sol press. Well maybe they actually pay > Required skills/experience ・ English: native with excellent writing and proofreading skills ・ Japanese: fluent (preferably JLPT N1 or equivalent) ・ Photoshop nice standards, but who would actually do the work for you at this skill level? Anyway I doubt they actually demand this for real, I've seen some dlsite translations... > Successful applicants will be required to submit a certificate of residency from the country they live in. This does not apply for applicants residing in Japan. Why is this needed lol that's way too mendou, trying to filter for conscientiousness or what?

  5. Hard to give tips at this level of (un)specificity. Just as a point of reference, consider Cinders. It's non-anime, but at such levels of quality you won't find people complaining about it. Quality and consistency are most important, there is certain amount of people that are so used to anime art they'll reject any VN that moves away from it, but I wouldn't worry about them too much – they are still a minority and quality will defend itself on its own merits. Also, a good non-anime artstyle will make your project stand out in the vast see of generic ones mindlessly mimicking Japanese VNs. That being said, anime style is probably among the easier ones to get right. If your skill level isn't great and you experiment you risk creating visuals that pretty much appeal to no one and will deter people from giving your game a fair shot. You need to decide which scenario is more likely to happen and act accordingly.

  6. For me, yeah I'd prefer stylized. Something hand-drawn and semi realistic could be fine too. It's just those soulless looking 3D things that bother me.
