Name's Mehnot. Having started reading VNs roughly a couple years ago, I'm not completely new to the medium, neither am I particularly knowledgeable. Fool that I am, I have never bothered to keep track of things with a VNDB account or anything of the sort, but I'd estimate my number of read VNs to be above 50 and under 100 Among those I'd believe they are included most of the highly acclaimed, translated mainstream classics, so currently I'm looking for a place to dig in deeper and buddies to discuss this sorta niche hobby with, which brings me here. Sharing maplexman's post on r/visualnovels here: Hello r/visualnovels community. We decided to do a thing. AMVs and MADs in general tend to not get much traction in views and attention, sad really. That's why this post will drag itself from existence for you nerds to stuff yourselves with. All MADs listed have participated in a competitive event in some form or is from a well-known high level editor. Although some may love to embrace spoilers, remember that many of the MADs listed can have spoilers in some shape or form, so you are warned if you haven't played the source. There are plenty of editors that mainly edit Eroge for their videos, so you should engrave their names to memory and look them up later. There are some editors who also upload on YouTube. Don't just be simps for Steins;Gate and Umineko, because that can't be all visual novels has to offer... right!? Watch the others if you can... Be open-minded and enjoy the moment. This is an appreciation thread for MADs that can move a stranger's heart in a span of 2-3 minutes. Just FYI, I thought Himawari was kinda so-so and liked Island a whole lot more.

The anime board seems so dead no one even bothered to make a proper Spring Season thread, so at this point I'll just repurpose this one. I'm not sure I'll watch anything more, but my isekai senses tingled when I saw that the Slime 300 is airing... It's pretty much in the same category as the Otome Villainess series/Bakarina, but even more relaxed/devoid of conflict. It takes the idea of an iskai'd protagonist that gets ultimate power but just uses it to lay low and live a comfortable life (also because in this case they were a miserable wage-slave in life)... And mostly stick with it for the sake of slice-of-life comedy rather than transitioning into some epic adventure. Also making the protagonist female nullifies the harem angle in sake of a "found family" plot. It's pretty banal and after the first episode, which was a nice introduction, the pace of introducing characters and resolving the mild conflicts is way too quick. The humour is also not as consistently good as the aforementioned Bakarina or, let's say, Gabriel Dropout... But it's still a very pleasant show. And considering how quickly the main cast was introduced (4 episodes in the "family" is pretty much complete), there's a lot of time for it to build them up and create some fun scenarios. I'm sure it will grow boring for some... But I personally find the chill factor of it quite satisfying. :3 Also, I think the "average abilities" anime did a very similar thing a few seasons ago? I should probably catch up on that one...

Honestly, unless I decide to revisit Himawari one day and realize that I somehow completely misunderstood it and it's actually the best thing ever, Island is on my hard skip list. PS. After many months I suddenly decided to pick up another random VN, and, well, it's trash made for people with a yandere fetish. Well, the art is somewhat good (though the sprites look like zombies), and it's very short (though I didn't get all the endings), but that's everything that's even remotely good about that game.

You mean the remake/the recent one? I think I stalled it around the middle of the second season, but I have to come back to it, from what I read it only gets better along the way. :3
