    Hello!

Hi, I'm Morgan or morgan_nicole. I just joined this forum today and am really excited to have a place to find out about interesting VNs! I actually just recommended an Adventure VN in the VN Discussion section if you want to check it out. Also, I'm planning on sharing any progress I make with my own Visual Novel on my profile or in the 'Devlog' section. So maybe you'll see a post about that pop up soon ; ) Speaking of which, what place do you think would be better to share my VN devlog? Any advice is much appreciated! Well, nice meeting you! -morgan nicole

  2. Hey, bumping my thread to say I've posted another update to Scrimshaw on my itch.io page. I hope to have the next update out by March, but work might set that back.

  3. In a warm subtropical shallow, a newborn whale opens his eyes for the first time. Our research team is present to record the moment. South Scrimshaw is a documentary that will cover one animal's entire natural life on an alien planet. My professional background is in illustration and animation, and working on this story has been my passion project for awhile now. The illustrations are done in mixed media, a combination traditional watercolor and gouache with digital painting. I’ve been approaching this more as a graphic novel than a game, so the read is mostly linear. But where it lacks gameplay I hope the volume and complexity of the art make the experience feel full and meaningful. South Scrimshaw is free to download and I will be updating it as new chapters are finished. The third should be done in a month or so. If you'd like to follow the development I will be making updates over on itch.io. It'd mean a lot to start finding an audience for it. itch.io - Twitter

  4. Hey Novellers! I'm a newbie here, but with decent knowledge of indie game development. I always liked visual novels, and especially FF series' storytelling concepts. I wanted to make my own visual novel (mixed with RPG elements), but was too bored to learn Ren'Py, and couldn't afford Visual Novel Maker. So I started to build my own visual novel engine, and I think it turned out pretty good. I though it could be useful for others too, so I just released it - for FREE! The game engine's URL: https://talefab.com/ My main focus points were: No coding required Short learning curve, but deep enough to make a decent game Items with interactions and conditioning Easy branching The product is released now, and I just made some test games: A short visual novel: https://talefab.com/game-preview/the-lost-amulet-g1.html An escape room: https://talefab.com/game-preview/escape-from-my-home-g11.html A word learning educational game: https://talefab.com/game-preview/find-lucifer-g2.html A demo game, which can be imported in a new project: https://talefab.com/game-preview/find-lucifer-g2.html Feel free to register, create and play games, and share your opinion. Your voice matters! PS: some screenshots

  5. Hey, guys, I was just updating my itch.io dashboard and noticed that this little project I had worked on and published to Newgrounds last year was still marked as Private. So, I added another Devlog entry about making it Public to anyone who wants to play/read it on itch.io as well. Unfortunately, I deleted my Newgrounds account since I wasn't really active on it, but here is the link to the newly published interactive comic on Itch.io! Kyle the Cat: Ep1 "The Big Igloo"https://fluffypumkin.itch.io/kyle-the-cat "Kyle the Cat" was a short project I worked on in Unity in an effort to make my comic episode that I drew interactive. It contains music, SFX, a ton of snow, cute animal people and a strange little minigame! Here are some screenshots of it as well! Kyle the cat and Mason Allodile staring at the igloo wall... The "cover" of Kyle the Cat If you play it on itch.io, please leave any comments, critiques, or suggestions you have for me in the community/comment section below the game! Thanks : ) -morgan nicole

  8. Hello, I'm a newbie to this forum. I've been playing VN's for awhile now to get better reading Japanese and figured I want to actually discuss them from time to time. I originally came over from the web novel scene and have a thing for really strong protagonists and cinematic fight scenes. Favorite VN's recently are Riddle Joker and Drakuriot. Also really into the virtual youtuber Ars Almal. よろしく~

  9. Late to this, but I can only say that unless I can immediately get Mizuha's patch then it's useless to spam by either saying that nobody will trust Trip for being a translator (It's his choice to continuing as the translator or not) or being sad about this. Of course I can see that it's too bad, although in the end there's no much that we can do other than move on. Oh yes Irru still willing to finish the translation and currently he still trying for find the translator, so if some of you read this perhaps you may call him. PS - Here's the tweet from Trip in regard of Ginharu, and at least he did try to do it before decided that he can't do it anyway and then quit. Ideally he would keep on translating Yuzuki's route, but reality is more cruel than ideal so let's just be thankful that he manage to translate three long charage (HatsuKoi, Tsujidou, and Hoshiori) in span of four years.

  10. This is a beautiful VN that I wanted to recommend to you guys since I've been wanting to get back into playing it for a while... Firstly, the art is beautiful and the main character is super deadpan which I love of course But most importantly, the Adventure Game elements added make the world that much more immersive! One of my favorite mechanics of this game is the lore book that is updated with new information on each character that you meet or items that you use throughout the game in order to progress. And don't even get me started on the soothing soundtrack! Well, you'd have to hear it for yourself : D Anyway, here are some more pictures~ And, you can find The Crown of Leaves here if you're interested in trying something new! P.S. all images/screenshots of this game were obtained from the official steam page in case anyone was wondering. I figured since these are the preview pictures there wouldn't be any spoilers. And if you play this VN, let me know, so we can rave about it together! -morgan nicole

  12. Unacceptable indeed Still figuring out how to get https://moon.fuwanovel.net back up - it ran on PHP5.6 before, and I'm unwilling to compromise. PHP7.4 or bust. Dammit Moon Moon, why PHP4? Hacked it.

  14. Infinite Stars released yesterday (1 September 2020) and is available for free on >>> itch.io <<< Infinite Stars is a science fiction series played as an interactive visual novel. It is meant to give humanity hope in the current time of fear and uncertainty. It is meant to make us dream about our future as we mingle with other species, their cultures and beliefs that we have yet to encounter. Our game and it’s assets are licensed under the Creative Commons license. We want our fans to write, draw and code their own fantastic visions of what the future could hold. We want them to share their creations with us, their friends, and with strangers all over the internet. In the distant but still recognizable future humanity has overcome our differences. We are finally a united people. No longer divided by our nationalities, our religions, or our race, we call ourselves human. Earth is a beautiful sanctuary planet. It took centuries to repair the damage our forefathers caused. Lunar Command is the hub of the solar government, and except for a few pirates and other undesirables, each individual works together for the greater good of mankind. We had total dominion over our solar system. Since Galileo gazed at the first planet, humanity has dreamt of meeting extraterrestrial life, but after centuries of shouting into the void of space, we had made peace with the fact that we are truly alone in the universe… Until the Cephilusk convoys arrived and started constructing the Sol Gate. The Discovery-War was brief and bloody. The entire Terran Protectorate was destroyed in a matter of days, and humanity resorted to guerilla warfare, sabotaging construction attempts and raiding supply convoys. A peace was brokered and official channels of communication were opened. We discovered that there were others like the Cephilusk, countless others and that all the civilized species belonged to the UIC. The United Interstellar Concordat. Once the Sol Gate was completed, humanity petitioned to join the UIC. It took years of hard work done by our most brilliant diplomats. They were opposed by the Cephilusk at every milestone, but we did not lose hope and we were not denied membership. Most species still view us vulnerable newborns, the newcomers to the interstellar power block, but we will change their minds. We will show them that there is greatness in humanity. We will share our brightly burning passion and curiosity with the universe. We will show them what it means to be human. Each episode is roughly 30-45 minutes of gameplay for a single branch. The choices that you make during the episode has an impact on how the current episode’s story plays out, while still having an impact on future episodes, and available side quests. We intend to implement feedback looped gameplay allowing players to manage a colony or upgrade their starship in-between episodes. We also want you, the player to mod and create your own stories in the Infinite Stars universe. If you write a short story, we want you to be able to incorporate it into the Infinite Stars universe and to share it with other people to experience. Infinite Stars was created in Ren’Py, an easy to learn coding language. (It really is easy to use) We intend to release a skeleton project to make it even easier for our fans to modify and start creating their own stories. If you want to start creating your own stories, you can find some of our free assets here. Alternatively, if you want a larger variety of assets, or just to learn more about the game you can check out our Patreon. The game and assets that we release do cost us money, and we have dedicated large amounts of passion and time to this project. If you like what we are doing, please consider supporting us here or on Patreon. Every cent donated is plowed right back into the project. We're excited to share this journey with you! If you want to be one of the first people to join our discord, now is the time!

  15. You have to donate to Fuwanovel or be a mod to be able to use cover photos. IIRC, it only became possible after one of the multiple IPB updates in the past year, and the only reason it's locked to mods and donators is so that they can receive something (other than warm fuzzies) for helping the site. If you're a mod or have backer status, you'll see this cover photo option when you look at your profile: Just a warning, it has very specific image resolution and file size requirements, and is a bit of a pain to get it to accept an image. You can also insert banners into your profile description if you don't want to donate. They won't be above your profile picture and username, though.
