Hey! I hope you're all well. I'm from Europe and am wanting to "get into" Visual Novels. My first VN was Danganronpa back in 2015 or so, and my latest is Root Letter. While neither are my favourite, I still like both. I actually Platinumed Root Letter a few months ago! I think my favourite VN is The 25th Ward. I am unsure how many VNs I've played, but I hope to play every English one there is! Some day. I don't have a set favourite or least favourite, but if I had to choose... My favourite(s) would be Sci-fi or Mystery, my least comedy. I do try to enjoy everything, though. Outside of VNs, I like other game genres (JRPGS, rhythm, SRPGS...), anime, manga, LNs, baking and music! I'm happy to make some friends and this community seems fun, from my lurking. I hope we can all get along ^^

Hello everyone! I'm new to VN world and only played: White Album 2 IC, Making*Lovers and Katawa Shoujo. So i'm looking for VN that focuses on romance, or VN has romance as strong subplot. Also very important note, all or at least most of the heroines must look like normal human beings, so no loli looking characters, please. Genres doesn't matter as long as romance is strong part of the story, actually i prefer at least a bit of drama but its okay if VN doesn't have one. p.s. My english is terrible, im sorry

Finished World End Syndrome. The final few routes for Yukino and Miu were pretty fun, because they finally touch upon the murder mystery and Yomibito lore aspects of the VN that the prologue hooks you in with whereas everything else in between was just standard slice of life & world building & heroine personal baggage solving. So overall it's like 90% SoL and 10% murder mystery / supernatural lore lol. Btw, anyone wanna play Among Us? LOL It's a shame, because while reading their routes I constantly found myself going, damn, this VN would've been even more awesome if the entire thing revolved around the mystery aspect. But ultimately all the slice of life did serve its purpose and softened me well for going into: Yup, there's a truth route to look forward to by the end of it, yeee. It's nothing too mind boggling; a bit of a shame considering you have a title like WORLD END SYNDROME so you might be expecting the true route to have reality bending consequences (it doesn't), but nevertheless it was still a pleasant truth route. Hint: it deals with: Alright, detour over. Back to Raging Loop

So yeah, this might be something of a hot take, but I don't think Demon Slayer was good at all. I don't mind it going for a simple plot, and there were some things I found interesting, but it's a major flaw when 80% of the anime's storytelling comes from internal monologues. Not only is it lazy since it requires little to no planning, but it fails to fully utilize its assets as an anime. I wouldn't mind it as much if it was kept to a minimum, but they packed so much into every episode that it severely impacted my enjoyment of the series. There is so much information that anime is able to convey compared to something like a book, so it makes no sense for Demon Slayer to restrict itself to the degree it has been. Anime can benefit from a variety of techniques such as facial expressions, meaningful dialogue, camera zooms, sound direction, atmosphere, and various other aspects that are unique to the medium. But no, Demon Slayer decided to hamfist almost everything with monologues and poorly timed flashbacks. It's a shame too; I really wanted to like this anime. The animation is stunning, but no matter how much you dress up garbage, it's still garbage. I probably would've enjoyed this more as a picture book than I did as an anime. Other than the animation, I have absolutely no respect for what this anime does. Hell, even that one awesome fight scene on episode 19 was bogged down by this. 4/10
