  1. If I had to summarize the experience I had when reading the first half of Umineko for the first time, it would go something like this: At least for the first three episodes I mainly tried to identify the culprit with a typical mystery reader mindset. Even when it became obvious the game told its story from a fantasy standpoint, my focus was on discerning which parts could be taken at face value and which were made up by Beatrice. Even as I was able to see how this approach was getting deconstructed, I was still waiting for Battler to come up with the one logic argument able to solve it all. Ev

  3. I don't know if I would go as far as the anon in my praise of Umineko. I agree with the general sentiment that Umineko has a narrative complex enough to hold up even when compared to some of the best pieces of literature though. I heavily disagree with his point about using the original sprites though. If I interpret Umineko's message somewhat correctly this approach qualifies just as much as reading "with love" as my attempts at decoding its symbolism does, because you're acknowledging the work and passion Ryukishi07 put into coming up with so many elaborate murder mysteries. Okay, so I saw this post on reddit after looking up some guides , and now I immediately regret a few of the statements I made in this forum. I shouldn't have bragged about my Venti pull. I got caught up in the moment and I unintentionally promoted unhealthy consumerism. If anyone here has any sort of gambling tendency, I sincerely apologize for that. The game's gacha rates might be more generous than FGO's, but that comes with its own slew of issues. They're not doing it to make the game more fair and enjoyable, but to encourage awful spending habits by conditioning the player. I alw

  5. Unironically this is why I've often described Suba Hibi and after reading Umineko, Umineko as well as the VN equivalent of literary works like Infinite Jest and Ulysses. Not because the themes or writing styles have anything in common with those books, but because all of them are works that are long and demand you think about them after you finish reading them. They play around with your expectations, but reward you for patience (as well as severely test your patience). I saw it said best on a thread on 4chan a while back, and I'll attach my screenshot of what that Anon said:

    What are you playing?

Slowly slogging through Robotics;Notes, took me literally like a week just to do Phase 1 lol. I'm a huge slacker sorrz Thoughts/First Impressions: The 3D sprites + animations take some time to get used to. It's kind of like when you first red Steins;gate and it might've taken you some time to get used to the watercolory artstyle. Doesn't help that the N.Switch has some anti-aliasing issues compared to all the other versions (rip). But it eventually grows on you/you get used to it. ...I already miss YU-NO soundtracks. Stuff from the 1990s just had more identity and flavor. Ever

  8. Evenicle 2 is also about to be released soon. And no VN/RPG hybrid suggestion with Eushully classic Kamidori Alchemy Meister of course and Kami no Rhapsody just got recently translated. And then there are the old Xuse classics The Spirit of Eternity Sword 1 & 2. There's also one title of the Venus Blood series translated: Frontier. Soon to be followed by Hypno. But those are apparently very tentacle rapy, so those are more for peole with such fetish interests. There's also another series, but I can't remember the name at the moment. Rapey protag minus the tentacles. - a

  9. ShiraVN has now announced when exactly the game os going to release. Oct. 23, 2020 10AM PDT And you can win a free copy in their give-away on Twitter: https://twitter.com/shira_vn/status/1317857976405774338 And since it hasn't been mentioned here John Hooper / Lemnisca handled the translations for Iwaihime. They worked on Root Double, Dies irae and Raging Loop before. Furthermore the release offers the extra content of the console release as an DLC on steam. Oh and the Demos apparently skips a scene so keep than in mind if you played t

  10. As for ShiraVN itself, so far there's no much controversy when it come to their policy especially in regard of all age release only. Not to mention that their VNs so far are quite well received and there's no much complain (Or perhaps almost none) in regard of bad translation, so I can say that in term of release number they already doing well compared to Sol Press lol. Lastly, it's good to see that we can see more Ryukishi's work being translated even though it's not by Mangagamer, and Iwaihime here is one of most requested VNs to be translated so I'll look forward to see what ShiraVN can do
