  1. It's as Templarseeker said. Even if you read a in-depth review, your experience can still be very different. I had my share of reading full of praise reviews of games I found interesting at first glance, just to play it myself and not find anything praise worthy anywhere. In the end, ratings are just highly subjective numbers. Everyone have their own standards, so nothing stops someone to give 10s to nukiges they enjoyed or giving 1s to games that have a 10 seconds NTR scene when they weren't expecting any. It's all about your expectations and if they're fulfilled I guess.

  2. They no longer do that (that annoying and completely unnecessary popup is gone when rating a 10 or 1) and I always ignored it anyways as it is the users choice what they rate not VNDB choice.

  3. Needless to say, when I hit my latest speed bump in the form of another partial burnout on VNs, I was left wondering what to do with all that free time. For about forty hours of that time, it was Ghost of Tsushima, but when that was over, I accidentally picked up my first litrpg on Kindle Unlimited... and oh god, I almost wish I hadn't. The problem, when I analyze it in retrospect, is that my fondness for anime like SAO, Log Horizon, and Overlord had primed me perfectly, my addictive personality instantly latching onto the familiar elements to draw me in beyond retrieval. While roughly two-thirds of the books I downloaded weren't worth reading, the ones that were left me unable to stop (The Chaos Seeds, in particular). I'm pretty sure anyone who paid attention during the peak of my VN of the Month years can probably guess that I have a tendency to throw myself into my addictions rather than trying to restrain myself. In this case, it was made worse by the fact that I'd been 'starved' of anything worth my attention (new) for months on end, so when my first litrpg dug its claws into my stimulus-starved brain, I became incapable of stopping. In fact, I haven't really stopped even now, despite 70 different books completed from over a dozen authors in just under forty days. I even ignored last month's releases, despite Phantom Trigger's latest episode having come out. I don't even remember the VN I was playing at the time anymore, because I've consumed so much content of late between long bouts of stress working with even more stressed out clients who want even more for less than usual. I'm mostly writing this post to laugh at myself, since I have absolutely no intention whatsoever of ceasing to indulge in reading the near-endless list of litrpgs available for free with my KU subscription...

  5. My eyes are hurting from the white background after getting used to putting dark mode on literally everywhere else. Even my Stylus can't find a dark mode style. The original site style felt better. Or is it just temporary?

  6. Just for the record, I seem to recall that the current theme used to be the default one at some point in the past. Probably, before I even made an account here. I personally prefer Spectrum, so I pretty much instantly switched back to it after it was changed.

  8. On the bottom left, you may find the available themes. Infinite Stomach is a dark theme.

  9. Hmm, maybe distributor wasn't quite the right word to use, but I don't know what would be a better word to describe it with. VN publishing platform, maybe? Fuwanovel as far as I can tell is the only VN site where the EVN crowd and the JVN crowd mix even a little bit. And the Original VN Projects board sees a decent amount of threads of EVN creators marketing their stuff here. Why not take that a step further and let them upload their projects to Fuwanovel itself. Similar to how Steam is a platform where indie game devs can easily publish their stuff, and gamers can easily find and discover new content. I know that Steam already has a category for VNs, but I think VNs as a medium would benefit if they had their own version of that for just VNs. A place where creators can upload their projects directly to a site where a prospective audience is. And likewise, a site where users can easily download/purchase said uploaded VNs. Certainly it would emphasize that VNs are a medium itself and not just a genre. Furthermore, I think it would be very beneficial for both the EVN scene, and for casual VN readers. Having all of this in one site might encourage some people to make more EVNs that caters more to the tastes of JVN fans, and JVN fans by getting more exposure to EVNs might become more adventurous with their own tastes. Realistically, I realize there would be serious hurdles to overcome. Affording the server space alone is a realistic concern. But theoretically, I don't know... I think its an idea with decent potential.

  11. hey, the problem is players usually self-insert to protagonist (and they don't want their waifus dekcuf by other dudes), so that's why this genre is so hated by these people. from my experience, a rating system like Steam is more reliable, bc it asks players a very easy question: "Do you like this game ?" (Yes/No), (If there are 99% of people who played this game like it, then there's a high chance that you will be in 99% group), rather than "How good is this game?" (0-worst -> 10-masterpiece), a question that usually leads to so many factors and people often decide based on their preferences.

  12. mmm... NTR can be problematic for people who find it easy to suspend disbelief and also think relationships should be honest and straightforward. This is especially true of the 'forced NTR' that makes up most of the genre. If you find it easy to get behind protagonists' eyes, it is merely a painful experience, not an exciting one... unless you are already that far gone, anyway.

  13. Trust no one but yourself. In the end, your thoughts and experiences regarding playing a particular Eroge/Visual Novel is what truly matters. Don't let the majority's opinion cloud your better judgement. Just avoid reading those lousy review scores and play the Eroges/Visual Novels that interests you straight away! If you'll only follow the crowd, you're no different from the livestock that roams the endless horizon of the Internet. Learn to decide for yourself and everything will follow...

  14. I think the name of this VN should be more than enough to response that kind of creative localization idea.

  15. Grisaia no Kajitsu isn't rated a 2/10 or anything close to a 2/10. Ergo, the scores cannot be trusted.
