  2. I'm interested in other people who actually like H-scenes (and not just for their literary/story value) but rarely/never talk about what they like. Visual Novels/Eroge are a weird genre that mixes story and H/Sex scenes, though sometimes they are esentially fully separated. Sometimes H-scenes are so long that the length can be equivalent to an average non-H scene in a VN and almost feel like it's part of the story. I've seen various reception to the existence of H-scenes. Some people are just very much against the idea of them existing and only want to read purely all ages content in visual novels which makes sense. There are people who say they don't like H-scenes but then when certain 18+/H content is taken out they don't like that the stuff is being "censored". There are people who say they only like H-scenes if they have some kind of literary/story value besides "pleasing" the reader. Usually when I see people admit to liking H-scenes it's usually just a small comment about them, they keep discussion in like friend groups, or just post pics in some kind of NSFW friendly chat or something. Sexual Content in basically anything tends to have a stigma in certain areas and communities, especially when anime-style characters are involved. The fact that 18+ H-Scenes integrate them in the story means anyone who reads visual novels at some point will eventually come across a VN with them. This isn't like porn or plain hentai or chaturbate where you can more easily hide your preferences, the topic of 18+ H scenes in visual novels will come in at some point. So this brings me to my main point. In relation to those who do legit like H-scenes: Are they just too shy to talk about what they like? Do they have to use excuses to not seem like a weirdo/pervert for admitting to liking them them? Or do they just not really know what to say about them? What are you guys' thoughts on this whole topic?

  3. So, this game just released and it seems very promising as far as I can tell. It's the first game by SukeraSomero, a sister company of SukeraSparo [The Expression Amrilato, which is a great Yuri novel released some months ago]. The art for this one is incredible! It's available for purchase at MangaGamer for 18 dollars. http://sukerasparo.com/somero/oshilove/en/ Steam release + DEMO: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1233270/OshiRabu_Waifus_Over_Husbandos/

    Sakura Farm Review

Of course I didn't review another Sakura VN that was created by Winged Cloud, and the reason for the title is because we have Sakuramori finished the testing along with the nukige release from Cherry Kiss Games with the English name 'Elf Breeding Farm', so we have 'Sakura Farm' as this week VNTS Review. Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and as for this week it's less lively after two big releases at the last two weeks (Summer Pockets and Senren Banka) with this week release is the aforementioned nukige. That said, at least this week update is quite nice to see because it have two interesting updates to me here (Makeover release and Sakuramori finished the testing) although in the end this week is quite a plain one here. Let's see what I can write for this week as well here, and sorry if this week review would be a short one here. From JAST back at 25th we have Togainu no Chi release which to say is a redundant one, but if you want a hardcopy version of Togainu no Chi then feel free to get it there. And speaking of the release, there's also the aforementioned Elf Breeding Farm that was released by Cherry Kiss which to say not within my interest there, but if you like it then go get it and have fun. Speaking about nukige, there's Yamizome in which it's already halfway translated. While Yamizome here is not nukige, I understand that people would likely thought it as one, and beside I think it would be nice if JAST can show good progress on that later in the future. Lastly we have JAST have their Flowers Autumn ready to preorder, which honestly not mean that the release date is almost close especially if we look at Majikoi (Granted it's because of voice license problem and the release is a redundant anyway, but still enough for an example of preorder is not always mean ready for the release). In any case, let's try to conclude this in a hopeful matter that hopefully JAST will be able to release Flowers Autumn in a near future or perhaps at this year. From fan translation we have Tsurezure take a break at this week, Miotsukushi Omote was at 86% edited, Angel Beats was at 31.50% translated, 9,814 lines of Pure x Connect are translated along with 5,287 lines edited, and we have Eustia at 88.24% translated with Side Routes was at 23.7% translated along with 85.95% edited. Lastly we also know that Yosuga no Sora did a lot of QC work, and currently they keep working on it as of now with the current progress that they already finished the TLC for both of common and Kazuha's route and apparently they about to put more focus on Motoka's route TLC which as of now still not fully translated. Let's see if we can see the end of this eight years old project in the near future (Good luck to the team), and that's all for fan translation here. Currently we have Aokana planned release for PS4 and Switch at this summer by PQube, which should be good if you somehow have PS4/Switch and yet didn't own a PC/laptop. If anything at least it would reach wider audience in which it's what Pulltop attempt to do it in a sloppy way with MoeNovel, and more importantly it mean that Nekonyan manage to fulfill yet another of their Kickstarter promise. Although instead of that, I'm more interested to know that their next release plan is Makeover and they stated that it should be happen in not too far away (There's still no exact release date for that, but they'll announce it when they ready). From Mangagamer, we have Sona-Nyl was at 85% edited, both of Macchiato and Rance 01 was started the testing, 02 was at 90% edited, and last but not the least we have Sakuramori finished the testing. Seeing that it's the only update that have been finished the testing, perhaps we may have this as Mangagamer's April release although I may expect too much here though. In any case I'll look forward to it's release. That's all for this week VNTS Review and sorry for being late here. See you next week.

  7. As someone who often buys VNs specifically for the H I’d say I qualify. I don’t talk too much about it in English communities as a lot of people in them are like you said kind of against that type of content in VNs in general, so there’s not much of a discussion to be had about it here. I also read mainly untranslated games, which will make me seem like that annoying dude only linking to content other people can’t read if I share screenshots etc from the scenes I like. (Which I do have a lot of. ) I chat about some of this stuff in Discords where I know there are other people who are perverts like me, I guess, lol. I wish H in VNs was as well accepted and talked about in the west as in Japan, but a lot of people here just don’t like it. And since the western VN scene is specifically built in a way where people can genuinely buy eroge without H content, it makes it even easier for people to avoid the topic, as they can unironically play porn games without the porn. I think the "buy the game, apply the ‘patch’ if you want" system is one reason why porn in VNs is less talked about here. People actually see it as an optional feature here, unlike in Japan where 80% of VNs will just have H by default. Tl;dr blame western publishers and their dumb practices w

  8. Well, I didn't want to be that guy, but I felt I should say something given that this has gotten nothing but positive comments and no real criticism, good or bad, so far. I'm sorry, but I just can't like this. You're taking a perfectly fine game and porting it to Ren'py while destroying everything unique about it, I just find this to be disrespectful to the original work. Fixing misTLs and translating what was left untranslated? Sure, I'd say that's awesome. This game was translated 23 years ago, there were different standards back then, JAST was just starting out and perhaps not the most qualified team was working on it, but this was literally one of the first steps for translated eroge. While it totally wouldn't be good enough nowadays, I think it's wrong to hate on the translation or a few rewrites. I see it as a as something left behind from JAST's humble beginnings. Fixing the names is pretty cool, considering the furigana was given for the names, I can only imagine that the translator had to rush to meet deadlines or that this project itself was a risky bet from the Japanese developers (so the priority was speed). Adding alternate tracks, mosaic toggle and such are all cool bonuses and that's what they should be - nothing more, nothing less. I like fiddling with these options myself, so I'm sure most people will find it to be a warm welcome. Maybe people would appreciate something like a JP/EN language toggle if that is even possible, but sounds like too much work. Adding CGs or tachi-e from other games that don't even have anything to do with Sakura no Kisetsu or Tiare makes no absolute sense. It'd be a completely different story if they were unused assets, but they weren't there to begin with, and they don't fit in there. I mean, I've seen similar projects that make bold choices, but they always keep it optional. Just think what a mess translation projects would be if people did just whatever they wanted. You also took the original, beautiful pixel art and uh...smoothened it out, or whatever you may call it, and completely destroyed it. At the end of the day, this is an originally PC-98 game and should be reminded as such. This is not to say that the JAST Memorial Edition is good either. In fact, it looks horrible, mostly because of the "blurry background" window border that makes it hard to look at, that and the font. Meanwhile the DOS version still exists (but it's not being sold anymore? not sure) and is perfectly playable on DOSBOX, even on fullscreen. So, why? And finally, the gameplay. Personally, I hate verb-based gameplay, even more so the kind where you have to pixel hunt to get to the next scene. But I think above anything else, it's wrong to remove a fundamental part of this game, turning it into something it wasn't. Playing Sakura no Kisetsu with verb-based gameplay might be a bit annoying in 2019, now that we're used to other types of gameplay, but by removing it, would we truly be playing Sakura no Kisetsu? I think not really. Just to make this clear, I don't think this is "awful". Fixing the text and giving the game a better treatment than it could've afforded to have at the time is great, and I wish the same could be done for older games that have an awful translation, such as Divi-dead. I really dislike what you've done with the art, even more so considering how out of place the pixel art character sprites feel, but maybe it'd be possible to include an option to keep the original pixel art, just like Memorial Edition does (at least that's what it says). I'm sure you are passionate about this project and deeply care about it, or else you wouldn't have put so much effort into it - something the regular user wouldn't be able to, unless they were adequately skilled and/or were extremely dedicated. I just think this is bad in terms of concept - you mocked JAST's message of wanting to preserve the original as much as possible, but you're doing quite the opposite based solely on whims, is how I feel. Anyway, this is just my opinion - feel free to do as you wish. However, I'm pretty sure this isn't very legal, considering JAST is still selling this game, but that's up to them to take action. I hope that my feedback, even the negative parts can be of help to you. Cheers.
