  1. It's cruel to ask someone with as much experience as I've had what his favorite is... but I'll name my top six instead.

Did you try Narcissu? It should be quite effective and I think like the whole series got an English release by this point.

    * Grisaia no Kajitsu . Certainly has it's moments (even one year onwards, I still think about THAT flashback). And don't let the over the top comedy in the common route fool you either. It's a particularly long read... * Clannad . If this doesn't make you shed tears, I don't know what will (though mostly for me, it was of the bittersweet variety). * Planetarian . Dat ending...... (got me real good). Pretty short VN. * ef - a fairy tale of the two . Boy did this VN scramble my emotions. Amazing soundtrack though.

  7. Mmm, this is hard, Dramatical Murder is for me, in the sense of being the first visual novel I read complete and even helped me to refine my very basic english, as I'm not a native speaker of it. Even Ace Attorney could do because of the emotional attachment to how it developed since the first case across the entire triology and latter games. But as life changing experience, is definitely Umineko no naku koro ni, because it changed my vision of how to tell a story, how to narrate and showed me a world of endless possibility towards vn, the multifaceted characters, the real world issues like misogyny, gender identity and mental illness treated with so much care and thought into them. The spectacular narrative from chapter 1 to 8. Nothing will ever compare to how special is Umineko to me, everything about it is great, for me is even one of the best literary works I've ever read.

  10. Holy moly. Those are the kind of questions I wanted to ask you lolz. Honestly, I think a VN that can garner some universality like a novel can. It depends on the target audience. I know shounen anime fans would enjoy something like F/SN because of all the action. Mystery and Sci-fans would love Steins;gate. It's hard to say without an example to work with, like for Colorless, we're making an EVN right now. But the debate right now is who gonna read an EVN moege essentially. The specific elements that I know will guarantee appeal is.....furry LGBTIQ hentai. It may sound like I am joking but it's true... furries for some reason make so much money and they pay so well. Hentai sells. We can get political points if we add LGBTIQ characters to appeal to such an underappreciated market. Other that, going that far. I have one other crazy idea to make a VN popular enough to appeal outside of those niche markets. Add some relevant social commentary. Put on mobile. The problem is that many VNs still talor to anime-minded people with the aesthetics and all. But personally, we need to be more experimental. Write a VN in past tense. Write a VN in third person limited. Marketing is very important as a hype machine. Many studios rely on social media since otaku don't see the day of light. However, I think outside of using SEO and word of mouth via social media, we could just create a public image of ourselves by going to various otaku conventions. Setting up a booth and creating a press kit is a wonderful idea, even though, it's really expensive and not many people have the irl social skills to pull it off. Should new developers like yourself invest resources in marketing, publicity, and community engagement, or should they leave that to publishers and sales platforms and focus on making games? It depends on the studio and the resources they have. The weird thing about outside marketing firms is that, you have to explain what the hell a visual novel is. And as I learned from my thesis on this last summer, defining that is hard, like how do you explain to someone who has no idea what anime is or a vague idea of what anime is, what a visual novel supposed to be? Most people will think, graphic novel like Watchmen, and no........ it's not lolz. However, despite that, I think it's worthwhile to go through that struggle because that's how we break this damn barrier. We have to do that. We are creating a new damn genre of entertainment. Of course it's going to be hard, I wonder how hard it was for people to explain what a movie was about a hundred years ago. Or a book thousands of years ago. While otaku can market their own VN, I would recommend they should budget enough to have a normie marketing team handle that for them so they can reach other normie people. Because otaku only market to other otaku. I feel like the questions are going to get even harder from here on out. BRING IT ON!!!!

Just finished this and what a damn ride that was! Beautiful ending as well. Well, apart from indecisive harem. Don't know why writers write themselves into a corner like that tbh as i understand that none can be selected, at least from the important two. And it's funny how non romance stories have the best damn romance when it happens, what's up with that? Watase was a true man when he was talking to Kazami, way more touching than regular romance stuff. Either way, the story was good. There can be no doubt about that. It did have it's giant problem though, and that was it's way of telling the story. First route was amazing through and through. Second, not so much with it's infinite number of flashbacks and mc's grating voice as a kid. Third was ok. Fourth was almost as bad as the second with it's relentless flashbacking. Yes, every flashback was relevant and gave us a lot of "aha" moments, but that nagging feeling about the story as a whole being completely halted never vanished. It was a slog, even though it was at times very interesting, it was tedious nonetheless. But when the story finally broke out of it's cryostasis it immediately became amazing again, and with a touching ending as well. Well, i can't do anything but recommend this for anyone who likes suspense thrillers with loads of mysteries, plot twists and careful revelations. Well, be prepared for flashback hell, but that's about the only thing i can truly fault it with. I didn't read the extend episodes though as they just seem to be more flashbacking for more fleshing out of characters, which i personally feel is pointless.

  15. I love deep and complex stories and VNs are a great storytelling medium. Also I read and evaluate/edit books as part of my job so I am too fatigued to read them in my free time, and I don't care much about "regular videogames" anymore, so VNs stand nicely inbeetween.

  16. It all started with me getting frustrated with certain VN anime adaptation endings , so i looked it up and found this thing got a 'Visual Novel'. Think that was mid 2013 around the time I joined Fuwa as well Obviously found that extremely enjoyable and couldnt stop reading more and more, even the non-anime adaptation ones Used to read almost everyday when I first started , which coincidentally coincided with me finishing high school so I had around a year of free time before going abroad for Uni, almost ran out of stuff to read by the end lol. Boy some of the old ones i read were seriously long, thing it took me 15 days to do Ever17 even reading a lot daily. Happy to see now so many more VNs being released each year, it was lucky to get one release a year back then.

  17. Unrelated to the topic, but I'm afraid you have a very poor understanding of what science is. Science does not "tell" people anything; it's a process based on experimentation, empiricism, and induction that people interpret. The reason why our understanding of the world keeps changing is because science itself is based on constant reiterations of experiments to get more accurate results. I mean, the human mind is still pretty limited, so the technology and methodology we create won't get all the answers, so we have to check things over and over and push ourselves to experiment more. If we didn't, we wouldn't be as advanced as we are today. Back on topic: As other people have said, the way we perceive porn and sexuality is a lot more nuanced than we realize. It's very deeply ingrained within our psychology, and due to pressure from culture, it gets molded and repressed into numerous forms. Ignoring the sex aspect of it, if you try to simplify what ntr is, it's a power struggle between 3 people: the thief, the one being thieved, and the one being thieved from. Theft is a type of violence, specifically, violence towards someone's property. From this, we can glean two things: ntr can be understood in terms of violence, and the one being thieved is acting as an object. Humans are predisposed to fascination with violence. Most of our history is based on war, ingroups/outgroups, and competition. We fill fiction with all sorts of violent content. The entire appeal of storytelling relies on overcoming a conflict. It's easy for us to laugh at other people's suffering, and we are more than happy to ostracize and bully those who are weak and estranged. Sexuality is also affected by this (even in other animals): specimens fighting each other for a mate, aggression during copulation, killing or neglecting children sired by another, isolation of sexually deviant specimens, shaming, the list goes on and on. Violence is thrilling to us, so we go out of our way to seek it. With ntr, it's easy to see what role it plays. It's the thrill of seeing something ripped away from where we think it's supposed to be and watching it being ruined and corrupted. These stories often involve rape, mindbreak, torture, depression, and jealousy. People have a multitude of ways of responding to this. In my experience, only a minority of ntr consumers are actually masochistic. The violence in ntr can also be enjoyed through schadenfreude. People love watching the girl getting destroyed, the cuck fall into despair, and the sheer brutality of partner stealing. From this perspective, it's not weird or deviant at all. It's pretty normal to love seeing others get hurt. Something that particularly interests me is the fixation on the cuck's depression and jealousy rather than the girl's suffering. I've met a lot of hentai fans that enjoy seeing girls getting hurt in sexual situations to the point where female suffering is practically accepted as normal within hentai circles. I've seen many people praise netori despite it also being based on cheating. I think this reveals a lot about how people perceive the pain of others. Humans are inherently selfish, and we interpret the world according to our own interests. People are projecting and equating themselves onto the cuck and get frustrated when they don't act the way they imagine how they would act. They interpret the fiction according to their own reality, and it in turn reflects the way they perceive the world. wait what the fuck am i even talking about. pretty sure im just rambling at this point, sorry for the long post ._.

  18. Lucy -The eternity she wished for- Summary In the near future, androids have become the way of the norm. Emotionless husks of metal have become a part of human society, much to the dismay of the boy. The robot he found at the dumpsite though, this one was different. It laughed, it cried, it smiled, it has dreams, just like a human… Lucy The eternity she wished for is a Visual Novel, about a boy and an android. You play as the boy, who faces decisions and moral dilemmas in this near-future world. This is a story that has touched many hearts and continues to have a strong impact on those who partake in this compelling journey.' From: Steam Ending Guideline / Suggested Route Order There are only 2 main ends to the game (and one extra ending) and from all my testing, they all depend on the very last choice you make, so if you want to go blind into it, it's a fairly safe thing to do because the last choice is quite obvious. The vast majority of the other choices in the game are mostly for unlocking CGs and specific scenes, some of which unlock achievements. Since there's only one major path to take, I have designed my walkthrough so that you can unlock the most achievements with one single playthrough. I will mark all the choices that unlock an achievent with underlined text. If you wish to do your own thing, you'll have to replay the game later to get the remaining achievements. Route Guideline True End Forgotten Memory End Achievements This is a guide on how to get every single achievement in case you can't discover some or you missed one or two during your playthrough. Extras Below is a guide on how to unlock every extra Attribution This walkthrough was entirely written and tested by me. Please link to this post if you want to use it on your website.

  20. Well, that's why I said it after "asserting". They're unheard of? I meant that ugly bastards are not defined as a genre. Most of Western porn, be it full feature or short microwave bits, feature some kind of typical 40-50 year old males who fall into the category of ugly bastards. It's pretty much a rule for Western porn to have a bad looking guy violate a girl. While hentai mostly features shonen-seinen with a percentage of ugly bastards in their respectful category. Studies and texts are a joke. Science told people that the Earth was flat some time ago and everyone believe it. Science would laugh at the idea of there being some form of life "out there in the skies" when we don't even know how big the universe is. Even now. Science tells you what has been confirmed... sort of, just like history tells you the things that have been found. Tomorrow they'll find an old set of bones that will change the way history is told. So, yeah... believe in science and "common sense". As of "man into NTR/rape isn't into committing a crime, please believe me!!!" - keep those lies to yourself. As I said, human thinking is simple and should not be looked into. You're after the illusion, after all... Will not follow up since you clearly responded to make illusions and avoid seeing the real deal.
