  1. Nobody cares about this I assume but I figure I'll write about extracting / reinserting ( .pd files ) for Umi Kara Kuru Mono / 海からくるもの , an old denpaらしい vn none of you have heard of. It seems to use the same formats as Cross Channel, so insani's cross channel tools work for it: http://www.insani.org/tools/ They need python and insani.py in the same directory to run, I think I have v2.7 python on my path which probably helped. crosschannel-extract3.py extracts with argument 1 being filename and 2 being output directory, crosschannel-repack1.py repacks with a folder containing the resources as its first argument and filename as its second. The script files seem flexible; the files come out with a lot of blank lines but they work fine with those removed (only tested on first scenario file). Font is monospace; linebreaks can be added with the enter key. Edit with notepad++ Not sure if removing blank lines will fuck up saving/loading, have not tried this yet. probably not but you never know.

  2. It's pretty telling of how desperate the situation in the Western VN scene is when most of us are fine with "good enough".

  3. Yes, those are the ones that I'm talking about. As of yet, there are no plans announced for a new Silverio game, but I don't doubt they'll reuse the setting at some point, considering how much effort they went through to build it up and the surprise success of Trinity (it surpassed Vendetta in initial sales). However, Trinity does tie off the loose ends from Vendetta, so in that sense, it can be considered to be 'complete'.

  4. That would make sense. I know I probably wouldn't be above passing over his original work due to the art. Same. I believe I have it on an 8/10 on MAL purely because of its amazing polish (especially the animation), how entertaining it is and the couple strong messages/themes it has going for it. It falls short of excellence as it's also a short anime and can't explore much more, and doesn't even try to do that to begin with. But there's certainly a reason it's catalogued as a seinen, and not a shonen. People are just horrible at rating anime (/anything). OPM was a hype machine from beginning to end, so people just gave it a 10/10 because "man, it's soooo awesome".

  5. Well, that's an ideal scenario. I liked how, for example, the Demon Lord isekai mixed humour with genuinely cool action (only the humour was mostly coupled with unbearable fanservice), but it'd rather not expect anything when approaching these shows. Or rather, I expect the worst and leave infinite potential for being positively surprised.

  6. Katawa Shoujo: completed all of Hanako's route, finished with the bad end. Honestly, her outburst at the end really resonated with me. As someone who has dealt with social inadequacy similar to hers (as well as several underlying mental illnesses), I really hate it when people treat me like a weak child that needs to be protected. So many people have treated me like I'm some kind of alien or exotic animal whenever they heard about my mental illnesses. It's like I wasn't even a person beyond my social anxiety. I'll admit that I was at first wary of how the Hanako route would go since I've seen so many other stories where the token shy character is coddled and patronized. Seeing that the good ending requires you to view Hanako as her own person beyond her trauma and having the bad end rub that in your face felt incredibly cathartic to me. I also completed the Shizune and Lilly routes before this, and I'm surprised how fast it's all going by. Even though I'm not a big fan of romance, it's a pretty great VN so far.

  7. You know, this actually sounds like it may be pretty entertaining as long as the comedy is funny. I noticed that I tend to enjoy these "absolutely overpowered but too stupid to live" kinds of isekai, because it's kind of fun to look forward to what other stupid overpowered thing the protagonist will do next. You know, if they keep things at least somewhat unpredictable.

  8. Well, none of them come even close to Muv Luv, but here are a few VNs where I personally liked how the worldbuilding was done: Rewrite. Pretty interesting science-fantasy + interesting political situation. I personally felt like the worldbuilding in this one was pretty strong, and it was the main reason why I liked this VN (though note that it was my first VN ever, so I may be remembering things better than they actually were). Tokyo Babel. Chuunige set in a multiverse based on Christian and Judaic mythology. Not really as extensive as the worldbuilding in MLA, from what I remember, but still pretty interesting. Eien no Aselia. Here I found the worldbuilding in this one a bit polarizing. It's pretty extensive, and the authors tried to add some depth to it, but I also felt like some important details weren't developed very well, so it never broke my suspension of disbelief. It's still pretty cool overall.

  9. Some of these are definitely more cliched than others. Some might be a bit more cliched than you would like, but I thought they're all fairly well developed: Ever 17. Root Double. Fruit of Grisaia. I imagine Dies Irae probable qualifies (but I haven't gotten past the prologue). I expect that I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream is pretty good (but I haven't played it yet). Littlewitch Romanesque. Eien no Aselia. Demonbane. Gahkthun. Steins;Gate. Dengeki Stryker. Tokyo Babel. Shadows of Pygmalion. Utawarerumono. 999/VLR. And finally (yes I'm serious) Funbag Fantasy.

Dra†KoI : A crazy, wild, naughty, funny and very short fairy tale Quartett! or Period. : With Ooyari's works, it's love or hate Having said that, the first is a cute musical Slice of Life and the second is a bittersweet romance (with a drop of fantasy). 11eyes -Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shoujo- : A cool chuuni VN with a great route system and a very interesting scenario. Yume Miru Kusuri : Without this underestimated treasure, I would not be there. it was one of my first visual novels. With Steins;Gate, It was one of those who made me love the genre

To me as long as the VN is still have average score above 7.11, I wouldn't say that it's underrated because there's a lot of that kind of VN that was really good (ie Noble Works, Koichoco, HatsuKoi, Osadai). So my underrated VN scoring would be something that got less than 7.10, and some of those that I'd find it interesting were Ikikoi, Shinikiss, Suika, and Beat Blade Haruka. Oh and also both of Koiresort and Koiken Otome, in which those two did have very good graphic. PS - Technically first Da Capo could count as well here, but it's a part of bigger franchise though (Both of the second and third parts are well-rated) so it didn't count here.

  15. you cant use -x and -a parameter at the same time... -x is for extraction, meanwhile -a is for packing, and -d is the output directory here is an example: mjarc -x [-d D:\scenario] scenario.arc later on, the scenario.arc will be extracted to D:\scenario btw, what problem you encountered with AE?

    .txt.scn decryption

There doesn't appear to be a difference between .ks.scn and .txt.scn in terms of what you have to do to extract them. Download offzip and use the following command to decompress the .txt.scn file and produce the PSB file: offzip <inputfile> <outputfile> 8 Example: offzip somefile.txt.scn somefile.txt.scn.psb 8 Monobeno SCN to PSB Example (run offzip_to_psb.bat) At this point, you will need some kind of PSB file parser to extract the text data. Here's a text sample that was extracted and formatted using my own makeshift PSB file parser/text extractor: Monobeno Sample Text Extraction As far as finding reliable PSB parsing/repackaging tools, I'd recommend contacting someone like binaryfail, who knows this territory better than I.
