  4. Don't worry, Barney is I am here to save you, by explaining how Pepe Silvia Chiho works As we see here, it's not that complicated of a story. The execution of it all is just pointlessly confusing. Everything happening between step 14 to 18 happens in a span of 20 minutes and Chiho's epilogue is basically just her attempting to tell you what happened in 15 minutes of straight expository dialog. I don't think would've been a bad story if someone ironed out those clunky parts in a second draft, but the real issue with Chiho is that both she and her route feel really out of place. The tone, content and character has nothing to do with anything else that is happening in Sukisuki. (Even QP fucks off for almost the entire thing, although they did adress that.)

  5. 2018 was the year I really started reading VNs on a regular basis, and it also happened to be a year where I had a lot of time to kill, so I finished about 18 of them (including several long titles), and started a few without finishing them. So my list obviously contains well known ones since so far I mostly read those. 1. Umineko. I don't even know where to begin with this one. Both parts are only sitting at a 9.5 on my vndb list because each one suffers from some minor flaws, but as a whole it's closer to a 10.5. Also gave us Goat-kun and Erika wearing a pirate hat. 2. Steins;Gate. Great in every aspect. It's a shame they had to cut 4°C for the anime adaptation. 3. Muv Luv Alternative. Has the highest quantity of "holy sh*t"-moments ever. And Meiya. 4. Clannad. I love Clannad despite thinking it isn't that good. Has several mediocre routes and heavy pacing issues, but it still got me on a personal level in a way I didn't expect, mostly because I just love 90% of the characters. 5. The House In Fata Morgana. Soo much pain and suffering. As for honourable mentions, I'd pick VA-11 HALL-A and fault Milestone 2 (side: above).

  6. I remember it being reasonably interesting and it shocked me by being action-focused, considering the game's maker (Lump of Sugar). It has been too long since I played it remember it clearly, though.

  7. Thank you very much to each and everyone of you that took the time to read and respond to my discussion (Over 1,000 people!). It's nice to have some people to relate to that plays visual novels because I don't really have anyone like that at the moment who I could talk to about it and I just had to get my feelings out there. I already said it but happy new year; I'll be on the forum regularly and will be posting again on topics or creating new ones, I'll cya soon!

  8. Grisaia no Kajitsu, without a doubt. I had actually read a few visual novels before, like Danganronpa and Phoenix Wright, but I didn't think of them as such at the time because I had no real knowledge about the medium. I actually experienced my first visual novel, which I have now forgotten the name of, sometime in the late 90's, but I didn't even realize it until recently because at the time I just thought of it as some random porn game. Gaming has always meant a lot to me, but over the years as I've grown older and had to take on more responsibilities in life, I've become less and less inclined to waste time (I don't really like that term, but whatever) on gameplay-heavy games. I now prefer games that prioritize the story, and I've even started playing almost everything on Easy difficulty just to be able to experience that story without any hassle. That, in turn, made me take a real interest in visual novels, since they are so focused on that story element I'm seeking. That spark ignited, I started picking up on people mentioning this visual novel called Grisaia no Kajitsu, or The Fruit of Grisaia, time and time again on some of the gaming websites and forums I frequent, and that made me more and more curious. Said and done, in early March 2018, I picked up Grisaia no Kajitsu and was hooked more or less immidiately. It was both fun, exciting and sad, and the story connected with me on a deeper level than anything I had ever experienced in a game or movie before. Despite having read/played those other visual novels I mentioned earlier, I consider Grisaia no Kajitsu to be my first, because it was the first time I looked at something as such, and it opened my eyes to the medium and made me fall in love with it. I've read a ton of visual novels since then and might even consider a few of them better than Grisaia no Kajitsu, but I think it will always hold a special place in my heart for taking my life in this direction.

  17. Still working on the playtesting part. I'm checking things on my end first, but I'm getting closer to finishing it. Then I can send to QC. Hopefully, we can still release the partial patch by the end of the year. Fingers crossed!
