  1. Still working on the playtesting part. I'm checking things on my end first, but I'm getting closer to finishing it. Then I can send to QC. Hopefully, we can still release the partial patch by the end of the year. Fingers crossed!

  3. Depends on how the other routes are written in the background. I prefer it if it's implied the other heroines have their issues solved/attended to in some other way. The one I'm currently translating does that. You see the other heroines you haven't chosen quietly get better, even if you have nothing to do with them. I much prefer this, but it's also the hallmark of many games that have no bad endings which is also something I prefer.

  4. Doki Doki seemed like a meme/joke VN to me, so I'm not surprised it's chock-full of cheap shock value. I didn't bother finishing past the first route because it's so stale and generic. Most of its "shock value" content was already spoiled by the ubiquitous Doki Doki memes anyway.

  6. Here is a list of VNs officially released in english, I will likely not update this list anymore after August 2021 as I don't see much of a point in it anymore with improvements to the search function of vndb. Orange text means confirmed for an official english release while yellow text means that a part has been released but not the entire VN. I have also made a list with the ones with physical release, this list is sorted the same way as this but also has info on where the titles can be bought and if it is available List of physical english releases of VNs MangaGamer (Store) Sekai Project (Homepage)/Denpasoft (Store) JAST USA (Store) NekoNyan (Store) Frontwing (Homepage) Sol Press (Store) Shiravune (Loves DRM, especially Denuvo) Visual Arts Fruitbat Factory (Store) MoeNovel (Burn in hell) Cherry Kiss Games (Homepage) Winged Cloud Degica Aksys Games (Store) XSEED Games (Store) NIS America (Store NA, Store EU) PQube Others (Japanese) Others (not japanese) Himeya Soft (Bankrupt) Hirameki International (Quit the VN market) SakuraGame/Paradise Project (Machine translated, do not buy from them)

  7. This video does a pretty good job of explaining why people, namely yuri fans, like SeaBed.

  8. Nonsense, it's just an alternate universe execution. If you prefer to have them all die around you instead, that's your prerogative but I certainly don't want that.

  9. How about you watch a documentary or two about mass produced chicken farms to make you feel even worse? That sounds like a good idea.

  10. As someone who has romanticized about potentially making a vn(and then promptly doing nothing about) I'd say that you probably need to first think of a concept for your vn. (what's the plot, who are the characters, etc.) After that you need to think about who'll do the actual writing and storyboarding of your vn. Then you need to think about who will be your editor because every project needs one of those. After that you need a illustrator or illustrators for storyboards, character sprites, cgs, and backgrounds. Then you need a composer to work on the bgm and someone to help with the background sounds. Finally you need a programmer who knows how to use whatever vn engine you plan on using. Oh and you need someone to think about the budgeting of your vn and whether or not you'll make it commercial or free to play and basically how you'll be paying for the services that you will need in order to make your vn. You need to start thinking about how many of these tasks you can accomplish by yourself and how many things you can't do by yourself.

  11. Sure, it's a good thing when your choices have an impact on other characters as well, I just don't think the way most VNs are set up is a good fit for that kind of story. School Days is practically a parody of exactly that, showing in an over the top way how a classical romance VN setup would play out if your choices affected the other characters as well.

  12. YMK and Kanon come to mind, in that if you skipped a girl's route, she's pretty much met with trauma and a bad end. When I thought about that while playing those VNs, yeah, it did bum me out a little, but on the other hand, you can't really save everyone in real life either, so I like the realism of such a structure design. Having everything wrapped up nicely like the Kanon anime is just way too contrived and silly for my taste.

  13. That's why TexasDice said you should keep the second best route for last. You still end on a high note that way.

    Eushully's fantasy world

The problem is, that if you were to take away the gameplay entirely in IMZ (the best Eushully game so far), you'd still have something about on the same scale as Grisaia or Clannad in terms of text. Not all of Eushully's games are like that, but the alternate paths and endings in some of them add up to a similar level. If you want to beg or start a project of your own, the ones that are worth playing/tling are IM Zero, IM Verita, Madou Koukaku, Meishoku no Reiki (yes, I did enjoy it, so screw me), and the Genrin series story-only version (Eien no Ikusa Hime, I think it was) released for free right before Verita's release. The originals are horribly dated, and I don't recommend playing Tenbin until they get around to remaking II (as Tenbin was the first game's remake). Kami no Rhapsody and possibly the newest one are the only ones made without any involvement from the central characters of the original series I honestly consider worth playing. For some reason, the second Eushully starts experimenting with gameplay systems (going beyond basic srpg or rpg stuff) their talents wash out, and they go for weird gimmicks. SofthouseChara has a similar problem... not only that, but for some reason, Eushully only hangs onto the worst of their writing staff, letting the good ones move on, hahaha.

  15. This seems like visual novel talk to me, so moved. I agree with both of your tips, tbh. Using the CTRL key too much makes it easy to just skip through shit if you're bored, and you end up spoiling yourself just enough with CGs that you lose whatever shred of interest you had left, while not being able to enjoy the story. Definitely not a good idea. Taking a break to clear your head is definitely better than skipping and totally killing your interest in the story. Trying to read several VNs at once never ends well for me either. I do it all the time, and it's always when I stall all but one and focus on a single VN I actually finish stuff. Then I always start reading several again next time, and the loop continues.

  16. read short ones avoid being mitch for this reason and others I recommend never finishing anything though, it's fun extremely fun yes

    What are you playing?

Man, Ever17's ending just dragged on and on and on... It felt like I was watching the ending to "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". I kept finding myself distracted and switching to another VN because it's so boring. And that same soundtrack, that same song on loop; it kinda numbed my brain hearing the same music for 10 minutes. Ever17 definitely doesn't have a great selection of soundtracks.

  20. Dafuq? Are you guys psychics or something? How did you guys know I'll be here? Anyways, CeruleanGamer the NTR Witch has arrived to educate you lovelies the beauty of Netorare. Not everyone who reads NTR are masochist. I am naturally a hard S when it comes to fetishes and pornography and NTR highly appeals to me because.... For me, the greatest appeal of NTR is the CORRUPTION ASPECT. Nothing is tastier than seeing a well mannered girl or even a strong willed girl become submissive once she surrenders to lust. It's just lovely to see. Most people have the notion that women are these pure and beautiful creatures who do nothing out of the ordinary, but the NTR genre pushes it out of bounds by mixing the powerful emotion of jealousy and depression to create a setting where your typical woman is now a lot hornier and sex crazed than the male protagonist. It's like an escape in real life because the current social outlook in real life is that men are perverts and are always thinking about sex. In NTR, it's different. You now have the girl who is hornier and is willing to surrender herself and become someone's plaything. There is this old saying: "Men want to sleep with the whore but want to marry the Madonna." NTR reverses that and makes the Madonna, the Mary Sue, the Yamato Nadeshiko, the prim and proper wife the whore and the mixture of corruption, exhibitionism, and voyeurism spices it up and doesn't make it as boring as your typical vanilla VN where it's just a meet n fuck, happily ever after setting. P.S. Thanks to @Nosebleed for summarizing the types of NTR. Glad I didn't have to write a couple more paragraphs for that.

  21. The appeal is the feeling of jealousy NTR inspires. The appeal of it could be likened to why people go for nakige. Good NTR makes you feel trapped, helpless, depressed. It manipulates your emotions and features unique sexual situations. It provides a striking contrast to vanilla moe, and that makes it interesting, especially when the elements are combined together in one work. The best NTR is the type where the NTR is a bad end of sorts, or where the NTR is unavoidable but you can still get a 'good end'. School Days is a good example of effective use of NTR, since Makoto is forced to choose between pursuing both girls at once or getting one of them NTR'd. The threat of NTR creates dramatic tension that enhances the storyline and forces the player to make tough choices.
