  1. I think most people who are complaining are looking at the Sekai Blunder and then comparing to them...its not about the announcement... you can announce as many Vns as you like as long as you deliver is all what everyone is saying.. and release Delays just add to the doubts

  2. Just seen this on Reddit. It looks like they're going to be including full English voice acting for free to existing Steam owners of Umineko (if successfully funded), as well as PS3 graphics and some new content. https://www.umineko.us Looks like it's been delayed, though :(.

  3. The OP is freaking amazing. I get goosebumps every time Yeah maybe, but the way I see it, that's unimportant. We are getting a DUBBED localization of not a random VNs, but an absolute behemoth like Umineko. This is history right here. And the English voices sound really good to top! If fuwanovel's motto is "make visual novels popular in the west", this should be a day to celebrate for any Fuwa member

  4. Yeah, I honestly don't know why they published that update, as I don't think these names are any more final than the previous ones. All it did was elicit a firestorm of feedback from "critics" who don't know what they're talking about. I wouldn't worry too much about it or think too hard about it. The translator on the project knows what he's doing; let the man work.

  6. I have no love for any of these titles, but I have voted for Dies Irae to equalise the results and make your decision more difficult nonetheless.

  7. This. Conservative sectors have been putting pressure on the videogame industry for decades, blaming the sexual and violent content for all the school shootings, rape cases and pretty much any criminal act committed by young people. The industry never gave a fuck about it, and they just kept on releasing even more extreme content. Why should they care? Conservatives are nowadays mostly on the older side of the demographic spectrum, and those people are not their primary clients anyway. It's when they receive flak from that considerable fraction of the youth that are oversensitive about sexism and gender ideology, that they start to care. After all, most left extremist are very young and belong to fairly accomodated families: exactly the part of the population that is likely to buy console games. This reasoning would also explain why they get away with any violent content, but sexual content or slight nudity is a no no, wouldn't it? And don't freaking tell me that these people don't exist or don't have that big an impact. Everyday in my day to day life I hear complaints of people with persecution complex about how everything around us objectifies women, about how any nudity or skimpy getup in movies should be banned, and even that the most wholesome romance novels and movies out there are sexist. Heck, this last month we even had all the controversy about this new a anime series, Goblin Slayer, where rape is depicted as a despicable and atrocious act and people in social media STILL went wild. I still recall cases like this, when the UN tried to ban hentai content, and how essentially Japan told them to mind their own business and care for the rights of actual real women (gosh that reply was so satisfying ), or this other issue that pisses me off, as it lead to minori's website to be closed off to non japanese people and the company refusing to export their products for a long while, and even today, 9 years later, the website stays like that.

  8. Considering that it's aimed at people who don't speak Japanese, they probably shouldn't have asked for the links from Amazon JP for LNs and manga. I accidentally entered a few links to the manga adaptations of LNs instead of the LNs themselves, so I had to revote.

  9. I bring up this topic because I see this complaint all the time, but I've talked with Xeviax (the owner of Sol Press) and he's made a statement about this topic a few times: " The licensing process can take upwards of a year before finalization for some titles. If you were to wait until the completion of the current catalog, that would leave the entire staff out of work for 8+ months. " Basically as you guys figure theres many roles to a VN licensing company, whether it's marketing, translating, editing, QA/QC, TLC, programming etc. His statement made me think that sometimes people expect VN licensing companies to be treated like a video game company or something where they only have one or two major announcements and then release before announcing something else. However, Xev's statement made me realize that if you only focus on 1-3 titles at a time, there's gonna be people on the team who aren't going to be doing anything for a while. Sure they're likely contracts but ideally if you want to work for a company you'd want a job that at least gives you consistent work. Translating, Programming, Edinging, QC, etc can all take quite a few months or so and the process of getting a license for a title could potentially be really long (or be a sunken ship). So personally I think people who expect companies to only do a very small handful of statements should at least rethink their stance on this in regards to when licensing companies announce new projects before other ones are completed. Of course, there is the possibility that only Sol Press and a few other companies even follow this philosophy and others don't.

  10. Hi, I like mostly yuri/otome visual novels(I've read Fate/Stay Night though for example). Not really new to the community per say, I've been on the Discord quite a while now(Hi Dergonu!). I have a interest in Japanese culture, and language. I also have a great interest in kei cars that are produced for the Japanese market exclusively, I've owned 2 before, and I'm about to get my 3rd as soon as I get the tires so I can drive it out of port.

  14. These days they have airbags, and other safety features ordinary cars have. They are designed for city driving though, 60km/h(this is the speed the drive them up to on the emissions tests) to 80km/h at most even if the meter goes all the way up to 120km/h or 140km/h if it is a turbo(older pre-2000 ones it is 100km/h and 120km/h). Sure you can drive them on the highway but then they will guzzle gas just like SUVs do.

  15. Not a bad dub at all. I'll do a voice comparison later to decide if I want to take the English voices over the Japanese, but I'm definitely not turning it down outright. This may be an effective way to pull in a new audience to visual novels (especially with something as noteworthy as Umineko). Hmm, I wonder if my mom might like this. I was thinking the same thing, actually. I do hope they put in an option to mute the narrator to make the read more immersive. Edit: Almost forgot to mention how much I love the OP dub. Normally I don't care much for dubbing Japanese songs, but this is damn good.

  16. Welcome to Fuwa! Cool to see you're into those less obvious niches, especially otome could use a bit more love around here.

  18. And let's not forget how hypocritical the game industry can get in regards to sexual content too. Sexual content in western-made games (The Witcher 3, Mass Effect ect.) is deemed ok, while sexual content in Japanese-made games immediately sets off alarm bells and the push for censorship. Just what exactly is the logical mindset for this anyway? It's like the west is just looking for an excuse to bash on Japanese media, creators and publishers.
