  4. Hi. After reading Kazoku Keikaku I was taken aback by poor editing of the later part of the game. Thinking about re-editing it into something more readable, I tried to extract the scripts from the game. Unfortunately I ran into the wall pretty quickly. The only tool that was able to do anything was ArcTools. It recognizes ISF files, has even built-in template for Family Project. Unfortunately it was only able to decompile dialogue lines, omitting everything else (narration, character names over spoken lines etc etc). It produced a bunch of files with content like this: :: word wrap line after, characters=50 :: - <7B79, 0006> "......"= - <8296, 0006> "Ai ya~"= - <8458, 0006> "..."= - <8948, 0006> "Hey, are you alive?"= - <89B2, 0006> "...mmm..."= - <8DA7, 0006> "Hey, what's wrong?"= - <8E89, 0006> "Are you okay? Can you get home by yourself?"= - <8F23, 0006> "..."= - <902D, 0006> "Ah..."= - <9109, 0006> "... Wo ... xiang yao ... yi bei ... shui."= - <923D, 0006> "Ai ya..."= - <92EF, 0006> "Hey."= - <94A9, 0006> "What happened?"= - <9A31, 0006> "Damn it."= - <9BC4, 0006> "But now isn't the time to be saying this."= Completely unusable. "AE VN Tools" is able only to extract files from main archive, but they stay in encoded form - its script module isn't working, so it cannot decompile scripts. On the AE page, I stumbled upon a pack of python scripts that are supposed to decompile and compile ISF scripts, and also convert them into Ren'py. Unfortunately - they crash d:\tools\isf_tools_20100606>isf_disasm.py snr00.isf >snr00.txt Traceback (most recent call last): File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf_disasm.py", line 97, in <module> print isf_disasm(sys.argv[1]) File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf_disasm.py", line 76, in isf_disasm x = isf.decompile(buf) File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 589, in decompile return ast(ISF(), buf[len(j) * 4:], j) File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 580, in ast isf.ast += [[o] + params[o](p, (j, js))] File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 121, in p_onjp r += [(T_LABEL, ulabel(wd(p, i), jjs))] File "D:\tools\isf_tools_20100606\isf.py", line 65, in ulabel return js.index(j[l]) IndexError: list index out of range d:\tools\isf_tools_20100606>

  7. Nice, been waiting to get my hands on Yumina the Ethereal. Unfortunately I can't buy anymore copies of EnA, pretty much bought them everywhere and for most people i know that will play it. Sequel as well. The rest of the games I either had or, in Raidy case, didn't quite interest me.

  12. If you chose to play the VNs on console only and wouldn't want to play otome, then yeah the library is going to be limited. Of course it didn't mean that there's no good VNs at the console though, although first of all I would like to ask though what console that OP owned here - because console VNs did need different machines (ie consoles) to play, and therefore limiting the library even further.

  13. If you like otome games, a Vita is a good investment. The stuff that's out in English is generally well-regarded (especially Code:Realize and Collar x Malice). A Switch may also be a good option for otome gamers, at least in the future. Otomate (the biggest otome game developer) recently shifted their focus away from the Vita and onto the Switch. However, the only English options right now are mobile ports that aren't considered particularly good. (It might be less worth it for developers/publishers, though...we're starting to see previously console-only VNs coming to PC. Amnesia and Hakuoki both have PC ports, Nightshade got a PC port just for the English market and never had its Vita version released outside Japan, Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly will be getting a PC port sometime in the future, and London Detective Mysteria is going to get a simultaneous Vita/PC release.)

  14. I'd agree with Kiriririri but say that it depends on the VN. For some VNs you're not going to miss anything (Clannad PS4 for example) but for some you're probably going to be missing out (Grisaia Vita). Admittedly neither of those directly apply to your question, but it is worth noting that you'd be best off figuring out what your position on H-scenes is in general before deciding to read on those platforms. Like Kiriririri said though, the library is going to be very limited (unless you understand Japanese), so (if possible) moving to PS4 or better yet PC will mean being access several (and a lot, respectively) more than what you would with the Switch and Vita. That said, advantages to reading on those platforms would be portability (making it easier to read while out and about if that's something that concerns you), trophies (for Vita that is), and also (though this depends on you) being a physically more comfortable experience than sitting and reading on a TV (via a console) or monitor (for PC). Also, this doesn't really apply to being more romance-focused, but there are quite a few VNs / otome titles that aren't on PC that you could read (Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and bad Apple Wars being but two examples). For what it's worth, I've taken to preferring to read multiplatform VNs on console (PS4 that is) over PC if possible, because while I do like reading on PC, I also really like earning trophies and VNs are good for that. I also find that physical releases of a VN are more common on consoles so I can get them without breaking the bank, and I also am not as worried about H-scenes being there or not there.

  15. It depends on how important sex scenes are for you. There is a part of the community that doesn't touch games that has them removed and there those that don't care much for them. Often console releases have new scenes that replace those removed sex scenes. The problem is only very few VN are released for consoles in the west. For example VNDB list about 23000 VNs in total. About 4700 of those have an English version. But there are only 15 VNs in english for the Switch and about 78 for the Vita. Here is the list of all the VNs that have a English Switch release: https://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=&rfil=lang-en.plat-swi&s=title&o=a And here is the same list for Vita: https://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=&rfil=lang-en.plat-psv&s=title&o=a If you are interested in VN I would take a look around on VNDB and see what interested you, or read some threads on this forum. There is also a section where you can ask for suggestions, If you can stomach reading at the PC you will have a lot more options to choose from. Link to the Suggestion/Recommendation section Lastly some users here have been playing VNs for PC on a tablet. Maybe that is compromise that you can live with? 16. That feeling when you can't read one VN, and start to read another for rest. Then another... and another... Every month - new VNs... You don't know what to pick up. You don't have a time absolutely. Eroge market is shrink... Too many titles, not enough time and money. Sigh...

  17. Yeah, youre all probably right, I should drop it for now. Problem is, I dont know what to read next, since Ive got a decent selection to chose from (I tend to buy a new vn before Ive finished the current ones ^^) As for the vn beeing my main hobby. It isnt really, I enjoy playing regular video games and watching anime more than reading VNs sometimes. Since english isnt my first language I get tired pretty fast reading, so I take a while to finish a VN. As for now, I think Ive only finished 2 VNs total (with all routes), that was Edelweiss and Kindred spirits on the roof. Some I didnt bother going to routes for girls I didnt liked or some I just finished the true ending. But yeah, I think Im going to drop Deardrops since the Genre isnt really mine and I cant enjoy it that much, since it has a pretty low res. and Ive a 4k monitor wich can be pretty anoying sometimes. Thanks for the help anyway ^^ But hey, heres another question, what should I read next: - Fruit of Grisia - Dal Sagno - Da Capo 3 ( Ive started it a long time ago, watched the animes for 1 and 2, which were terreble tbh, and never came back) - Fureraba

  18. You don't need motivation to read, you're supposed to enjoy it. If you have to force yourself to continue, then just drop it. For example, I waited years for Clover Day's TL, but in the end, once I decided to read it in Japanese I dropped it after one route because I found it just meh. I don't have to force myself to read everything because I waited years and many people praise it. If I can't enjoy myself I'd rather read something else. On the other end, reading Baldr Sky Dive (2) right now, around 80+ hours in and I'm still enjoying the hell out of it, so I can read non-stop. To finish, yeah you might miss something by dropping it because perhaps you'd come to like it later after struggling a little, but if you're reading something else you enjoy instead, the end result is the same. You read to have a great time, it's not a duty, so as long as you're enjoying yourself it doesn't matter what you read.

  19. If the dull phase goes on long enough that I no longer want to continue reading, I drop it and pick up something else. Life's too short to read genre fiction (stories meant to entertain) out of some weird obligation, or vague promise that it might get better well into the future.

  20. VNs can't be your only hobby, if your main hobby at all. You need other things. On the other hand, Deardrops is aimed at people who want to read about bandsmen, sleazy life, rock'n'roll and the musical industry, otherwise it's a pretty bad choice to read.

  21. Yes, you can pick any order you want other than those two. I recommend playing Maia's route before Alice's.

  22. Maia route is, strictly speaking, a bad/sad ending. This is self-evident, though, even just based on the prologue. Alice's route is generally best left to last, but I don't have a recommendation of which of the other heroines to do first. Personally, I tend to go after Keiko first, because I like her personality (that and she is surprisingly sexy), followed by Yayoi and Saki (one or the other, based on my mood). Hapymaher is the type of game you just sit back and experience, not the type you plow through at speed. Its style is probably unsatisfying for moe-only specialists, though. The atmosphere is a bit too depressing, too often for people of that type. Of course, on follow-up playthroughs, I generally found the Christmas arc to be something of a headache (once you've experienced it once, it loses what little appeal it has). I mostly play this game for the feels and the music, though I also love Maia (a given for anyone who likes this game in general). Her sadistic giggles and mocking speech patterns are a fond memory for me, even five years later.

    D.C. Da Capo III

Here is a modified version of Otakulair's Da Capo 3 walkthrough Go ahead and check out their site for VN news The first 4 heroines on the list MUST be completed first(in any order you choose) before proceeding to the other routes! The (*) indicator means different CGs for both choices, if you want all CGs unlocked make sure to save before commencing these choices. Morizono Rikka Rukawa Sara Yoshino Charles Katsuragi Himeno Hinomoto Aoi TRUE END Scene Recovery (This is essentially covering all other choices you did not pick in the previous routes) Side Episodes END (Must have all previous routes cleared, including scene recovery)

    Fuwanovel Confessions

Every time I read a VN's description that I'm convinced it's just right for me, only to find out that it's not translated into English seconds later, it feels like a punch in the guts that rubs in my face the fact that I've been too lazy to keep up my japanese learning process
