  1. TEXT-ONLY ALPHA DEMO ON ITCH.IO The Bitter Drop: 1. Sparrows is a long Fantasy/Horror/Gay Romance Visual Novel currently in development by writer Isak Grozny. Deeply inspired by Slavic and Ashkenazi Jewish folklore, Russian Imperial history, weird fiction and queer culture, it is the first of a planned trilogy of Visual Novels. In a divided capital of a crumbling decadent Empire, a bigender failed rabbi and a flamboyant, gay doctor-necromancer uncover ominous occult happenings that not only hold clues to the Febrile Rebellion's failure eight years ago, but also implicate the Czarevena-Regent and her White Guard in eldritch crimes against humanity. Impoverished and disfranchised, they must not only prevent the White Guard from unleashing a reality-shattering evil but also survive the cruel realities of life on the margins, and nurture their vulnerable found family and their blossoming love for each other. Narrative design, words and code by Isak Grozny; GUI design and assets by potouto; sprite, background and CG art by [TBA]. July 16, 2018: the artist is working on character design and the sprites necessary for the demo the artist is working on promo art, including profile portraits of the narrator and the major NPC/Love Interest the writer is working on the first two chapters, scheduled to be released as a demo in October 2018 The GUI is about 90% complete and coded in. The soundtrack remains a mere concept July 19, 2018: the artist has completed the sketch sprites of the narrator and LI, allowing the writer to start programming scenes the artist is working on further sketch sprites necessary for the demo. current progress: 2/15 sketch sprites the writer is still working on the first two chapters. scene one has been outlined by major conversation choices the GUI is about 90% complete and coded in, might require extra assets? the soundtrack has been conceptualised but we still need budget and a composer Currently, we don't have finished sprites/BGs/CGs, but the GUI's almost entirely complete! Just a few minor tweaks left, plus implementing a Gallery screen, an Endings screen and potentially a Music Box screen. We'd love to hear from you! Here's some prompts, but any kind of feedback is very much valued and appreciated. Does the story sound appealing to you? What kind of thing would you be interested in exploring in a fantasy city? Would you be interested in playing a test build, e.g. one with the final GUI, but no backgrounds or sprites, just the dialogue and narration text? Would you support a Patreon if you could play such early test builds as part of the rewards? In a story that isn't just about romance, do you prefer sex scenes to be explicit or fade-to-black or having the choice between the two? How do you find the aesthetic of the GUI? If you played the text-only proof-of-concept: what were your overall impressions? As above, what was your main impression of the narrator character? How about of Anzu? --- CHANGELOG: July 16, 2018: new thread made! July 16, 2018, sometime later: the pitch has been revised and edited. July 19, 2018: added small progress update, screenshots, a link to a text-only proof of story concept.

  3. This list won't feature the VNs in order of "how good they are". Rating them would be way too much of a clusterfuck to me. The VNs are not in their respective order. Meaning number 1 is not the best, and so on. 1_CHAOS; HEAD 2_Cross Channel 3_G-Senjou no Maou 4_Fate/Stay Night 5_Forest This Visual Novel is the easiest visual novel translated to get a bad ending without using a walkthrough- which just adds to the fun of it. It makes a massive amount of references to common literature, which makes it even better. 6_Katahane It may seem like an ordinary moege- the atmosphere is light, the story is full of cuteness, which you can note by the character design and soundtrack. It gets really good in the middle, and you'll be dying to know what happens in the end. A game with multiple perspectives, it's definitely one of the most enjoyable Visual Novels I've ever read. 7 Majikoi 8_Little Busters! 9_Tsukihime "You shouldn't tell lies that you can't even fool yourself with" 10_Swan Song A post apocalyptic Visual Novel. 11_Symphonic Rain It may seem like your ordinary moege. Trust me, it's not. 12_Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo (and sequel) 13_Sekien no Inganock Steampunk. An atmosphere full of mysteries and references that will make your head blow up. 14_Steins; Gate A visual novel that deals extensively with time travel and it's consequences. 15_Utawarerumono 16_Fault: Milestone (1 & 2) 17_Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni 18_Kara no Shoujo 19_Umineko no Naku Koro ni 20_Planetarian 21_Ever 17 Another top 10. 22_Remember11 It lacks in the ending, but otherwise the story of this VN has enough to easily become one of my all-time favorites. 23_Zanmataisei Demonbane 24_Rewrite "Could it possibly be rewritten, this fate of hers?" Another one that enters the top 10. 25_Narcissu 26_Grisaia no Kajitsu 27_Saya no Uta Only if you enjoy dark and messed up settings. 28_Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni 29_Eien no Aselia 30_Rose Guns Days (1 & 2) There are small sections of gameplay on this one, but you can skip them by pressing the space bar, so this still qualifies. 31_Sengoku Rance I feel obliged to comment on this VN before suggesting it to anyone. It's an Alicesoft title, which speaks a lot for itself... If you don't know how it's going to be like, well.. Kind of tough to describe. Lots of sex, including comedy rape. Alicesoft tends to make the whole story a comedy until right near the end, where things actually do get serious. It's worth checking out, if you don't mind Rance's personality. 32_Phenomeno Want a short VN that can captivate you for their whole duration? Here is it. Visual novel adapted from the youth horror novel written by Hajime Ninomae and illustrated by yoshitoshi ABe. 33_Ef- A Fairy Tale of the Two 34_Dysfunctional Systems Another one great for those who want short Visual Novels. 35_Daibanchou Another Alicesoft title. While Rouga is not near Rance's level when it comes to pissing off people, alicesoft's style is something which often doesn't please people. 36_Yume Miru Kusuri The endings pack quite a punch. 37_Kikokugai- The Cyber Slayer 38_Eden 39_Hoshizora no Memoria 40_Katawa Shoujo Yep, it's somewhat overrated. Still, the fact that it is substantially easier for those who are starting to play visual novels to read should not be discarded, and overall, the story was good. 41_World End Economica 42_YU-NO 43_Shikkoku no Sharnoth Yep, there is a minigame on this one. If you download a save data you can skip the minigame, though. So it still qualifies. Another VN that enters my top 10. 44_Muv Luv Alternative The first Muv Luv didn't have enough to enter this list. You should still read it, though~ MLA is definitely awesome. 45_Dangan Ronpa 46_Comyu - Kuroi Ryuu to Yasashii Oukoku 47_Hanachirasu 48_Ayakashibito 49_I/O 50_Deardrops

  5. just to clarify, im referring to all the fandisks and of course the main game itself as well as the little known A+ fandisk. so unless math has failed me thats 8 vns done from the majikoi universe! quite the ride its been. cant deny that i was getting majikoi fatigue at the end. love the main vn to death but my god. theres only so much majikoi a person can take. not sure exactly how many years its been exactly but its probably been like 6 years, maybe? anyone remember when the translation for majikoi was released? the one that had all the routes except miyakos and the agave route? i believe fuwa still had torrents floating about when i first played majikoi. think this is where i got it, in fact. I do know the picture that sold me on majikoi though. just look at that face. so happy and carefree. the face that started it all. so yeah, read majikoi when the original tl team released the translation that would lay in limbo for majikoi english progression for a long time. so long that i became impatient and started reading with a machine hooker. while i was reading it i learned that a new team was gonna tackle majikoi and years later they released a full english version that was uncensored. re-read majikois miyakos route and the agave route to get a better understanding of what was happening and finished majikoi fully. learned of the fan disk S and got started on that and its partial translation. history repeats itself as i read an unfinished translation with a machine hooker and learned that another team was gonna complete the vn. didnt go back this time to that one since i got the gist and had a better understanding of japanese. then the a series. oh god, the A series. 6 fandisks, 18 heroines and a whole lot of rinse and repeat. yamato must help the girls with some kind of big event and then theres a massive, overly long fight sequence. with the amount of girls in the majikoi universe that yamato can bone, id be really surprised if there was a main character of a vn who has more total possible heroines than yamato. feel like making a chart for all the possible boneable heroines but i dont want to right now. later. decided to change my avatar after like 3 years of having the same avatar to mark this occasion! what a nice reward after all these years. the famous last words from this series will be with me after this long journey. "Maji de watashi ni koishinasai!"

  6. Somewhere in the middle. Ultimately it has quite a few h-scenes, but the common route is fairly lengthy without one. Also there are 2+ routes for each heroine, with no overlapping scenes so that adds to the count quite a bit, whereas most VN's don't have unique scenes in such situations. I mean it isn't Majikoi in quality of writing/heroines, but it was still fairly enjoyable with a solid amount of laughs.

  7. It's OK I guess. I didn't feel as overwhelmed with h-scenes as it sometimes was with Majikoi S.

    Hi everyone!

Welcome to Fuwanovel! It's a shame people still have these prejudices about otaku media, I hope you'll find some fellow VN fans in your RL place too. But, for now, I hope our little forum will suffice.

  12. The A's aren't nearly as H-focused as S was at least. I have enjoyed A-1 and A-2 thoroughly so far. No one knows if the other 3 will ever actually get translated tho. Anyway congrats on finishing and take pride in my slight bit of jealousy.

    Hi everyone!

Nice to meet you too! Good luck on learning Japanese, It might seem daunting at first but with motivation you can bulldoze your way through, and that feeling of achievement when you feel like you can finally read has an amazing catharsis. Playing through a lot of VN's since I tend to alternate alot when I get tired. Favorite is fate/stay night since that was the first VN I really felt addicted to that I couldnt stop thinking about. If you'd like more choices for untranslated VN's you could message me anytime

    Hi everyone!

Hi hi! Welcome! It's a shame what happened to you. I have one friend which I can talk about visual novels in real life and I must admit, it's fun to have a casual talk with someone and just chat about your favourite parts or characters in the game... I hope that someday someone who shares the same interests with you appears, even if you can have tons of fun discussing VN's online! And I wish to get better soon in Japanese to immerse myself in the Untranslated works faster! Anyway, nice to meet you~ Are you currently reading something? What is your favourite work?

    Fate Series Novel Order

I'll just mention the chronology along with a short description. All of these works take place in the nasuverse, though they largely follow independent timelines. 1. Kara no Kyoukai - Gives a interesting background information about the nasuverse. Nasu's first VN Tsukihime is loosely based on this. This was originally a light novel series, later adapted into an anime movie series by ufotable. 2. The Visual Novel Series following the fate of Tohno Shiki -Tsukihime, Tsukihime+, and Kagetsu Tohya. Melty Blood was a game spin off that used charecters from Tsukihime. 3.The Visual Novel Series that follow the fate of Emiya Shirou - Fate/Stay Night (try to play the reality nua version for the avalon ending), Fate/hollow Ataraxia. The first two routes of the Fate visual Novel have been adapted into anime series while the third route(heaven's feel) is being turned into an anime movie series. This was based on the Light Novel Fate/Prototype which had a female protagonist, and saber (King Arthur ) was male. 4. The light novel Fate/Zero. THis was written after Fate/Stay Night but chronologically takes place before it. Interestingly this was not written by nasu. This LN was also adapted into an anime by ufotable. 5. The game series following Hakuno Kishinami and his servants include - Fate/extra, Fate Extra CCC, and Fate Extella.Fate Extra CCC is currently untranslated. 6.Mahoutsukai no Yoru is a VN released in 2012 following Aoko Aozaki and occur chronologically before Tsukihime. THis is currently untranslated. 7.Fate/Apocrypha, is a 5 book LN series set in a parallel world to the original Fate/stay night, where the Einzbern's summoned a Ruler rather than an Avenger in the Third Holy Grail War, it focuses on the conflict between two factions. (the red and black faction). It is being adapted into an anime and the LN is not yet fully translated. 8.Fate/Grand Order is the new android/ios rpg that adds a bunch of new servants and lore to the nasuverse. The players are the masters and you can collect servants which then undergo turn based battle. (not exactly pokemon, but the turn system is kinda like that.) Several Short LN sides have been released such as Fate/Labyrinth (side for Fate/Apocrypha), or Lord El-Melloi II Case Files, (Side to Fate/Zero) Edit - To answer your question, both Fate/Prototype and Fate/Apocrypha are LN's which deal with the third holy grail war, though different events mean that the very nature of the war is different.

  20. Hello again. It's been a few weeks since I last did this. I was busy with irl stuff and vacations. However, I am back with another progress update that should either be weekly or bi-weekly. We'll see how it goes once the prologue patch is out. Here are the updates. Translation Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 70% (1895/2691) Branch School - 10% (572/5846) Total - 6% (4258/68206) TLC Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 6% (157/2691) Branch School - 3% (187/5846) Total - 3% (2135/68206) Edit Prologue - 84% (1502/1791) As you can see, the translation for the main school has been going well. Editing is closing in on being finished for the prologue and then all there is is UI Work and QC before the prologue patch is released. Get hyped, everybody. We are still looking for a permanent TLC to work on this project. Please PM me if you're interested in working as a TLC for this project. I'll be back next week with another update. Until then, have a good rest of your week and see you later.

This might be a bit delayed, but congratulations on getting picked up by Sekai Project! I've been following your project on Lemmasoft for a month or two now and I've gotta say; as someone who's not really a fan of this kind of 'synthwave'-y aesthetic in general, I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that your project not only managed to overcome my initial distaste for the style, but actually caught my interest on basis of that very style itself! Very few things are able to convince me to make such a 180-degree turn, especially in terms of my tastes; so the fact that your project did, means that it's doing something very, very right. The new trailer looks fantastic (to be completely honest, it's leagues above the first trailer, which really didn't manage to capture my interest in the slightest), and the sense of style and balance within the composition is splendidly portrayed - it really captures the world of your project quite spectacularly, and communicates a very real and genuine sense of purpose - honestly, I'd say that that sense of purpose in style is so well-done that even if the rest of the project ends up being lackluster (which I doubt, given the extent of your abilities you've demonstrated heretofore), I'm confident I'd enjoy your project nonetheless. All in all, I wish you the best of luck, and I'm very curious to see where this goes in the future!
