  1. Czero

    Hey, Czero here!

Hiya everyone, I know I've found a great place. A little bit about myself, I'm a huge visual novel fan who also loves to write. I hope to meet a lot of great people here! I'm a creative person who just loves to go about through ideas, but choosing something to write is like picking between your children. Still, it doesn't stop me from binge writing when I find that I'm not doing something. Can't stand doing nothing, as there is always something more than can be done.

  3. Seeing as I've finished To Heart 2, well, the routes I intend to finish, that is, I wanted to ask a pair of questions that've been bugging me. 1 - Is there a case to be made for calling Konomi the canon heroine? Considering her prominence in the artwork (she features near the center rather often), her prominence in the OP (which focuses more on her than any other character, and shows her both first and last) and the comments about how hers (and Tamaki's) can be considered something of a common route, it seems like it wouldn't be such a far-fetched idea. Plus tbh she's obviously a sucrose-based lifeform. I really liked her haha. 2 - I liked this VN though and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a lighter and more relaxing read. My biggest issue with it was that the routes were quite inconsistent, but the characters were well done and memorable, and as has been said before, there are a lot of elements that have become commonplace in later VNs so it's nice to see them make their start here. I was also really surprised to see quite a few VAs I've recognized from other works: Itou Shizuka (Amagami), Nabatame Hitomi (Noble Works), and Rikimaru Noriko (Majikoi) being some examples. Plus it has a very very good soundtrack, with a lot of relaxing songs that just set your mind at ease when you listen to them. Feeling Heart is my favorite, but there are two other really good ones I'd like to link here: As far as best route I think it'd be Sasara's or Konomi's, as I felt like As far as best character I think it'd be Konomi, with Tamaki and Sasara coming in second and third respectively. Best scene has to be Yuma's first rant, with one of the funniest lines I've ever read: "I hate people like you! I hate them so much I could just pour mayonnaise all over them! You pervert!!!". Though, having said all this I get the feeling I might need to reread at least some parts of the Konomi route :D. Thanks again ittaku for the recommendation, and the translation too, along with all those who helped out along the way.

  4. I think @Plk_Lesiak is pretty close to the mark. It has very grand ambitions and the original material obviously was a lot more fleshed out than the anime was. The anime has some very shaky moments, including some bad production even, and feels rushed despite having 24 episodes - I think there's enough material there for 4 seasons, not just 2. Nonetheless when it hits its mark it is very touching and satisfying, with some gruesome moments and is relentless in its treatment of characters, but satisfies the criteria for an ultimately satisfying ending. I gave it a 7/10, good overall and certainly don't feel I wasted my time... but then I watch an awful lot of anime. It's a bit like sousei no onmyoji, flawed but satisfying.

  5. Time is cruel sometimes, nothing last forever in this earth. Change will always take place for better or worse... Well I'm a kind of guy who discovered Visual Novels by playing OELVNS, Long Live The Queen being my first one and totally transitioned into those original, true Japanese VNs as I learned how awesome the medium was! And I ended up here in Fuwanovel in my pursuit of searching the best VNs in existence! No one knows what the future may bring, however as long as there are Visual Novels, Fuwanovel will always be a relevant site for both newbies and veterans alike. I'm glad to be here since it has a much friendlier atmosphere than the ones in Beast's Lair wherein disputes could quickly got blown out of proportion At the very least I feel at peace or at home whenever I roam around on Fuwanovel...

  6. Funny that you mention Subahibi, I actually thought there were more "unjustified fanservice" h-scenes in Subahibi than in Grisaia. Sure there are h-scenes in Subahibi which fit the plot, but there are several I can think of that definitely don't. With Grisaia, all of the character arcs are romantic, and the romance leads to the h-scenes, so I'd say the h-scenes are "justified".

  10. Thank you so much! I'm sorry if I've been out a while been so busy... I was working on the sequel for that because it did a lot better than I expected, and more people have started following the interconnected storylines! I'm working on DERE EVIL EXE, a platformer game (sequel to Dere Exe) that this time stars the heroines of Sorority Rites : Yanna and Myles. And it comes out on July 4

  11. Ruler by Default, definitely better than Sakura Spirit, although it's a bit more about romance than anything else. Also AIRIS is something like a reversed isekai, I can't say more without spoiling it, but it might interest you if you want something beyond a "being reborn in a fantasy world" power fantasy.

  12. Yeah, that's one of the biggest mysteries of the VN genre to me too. While otomes cover all kinds of interesting historic or fantasy settings, and also represent them with an appropriate authenticy, the common VN's adressed to guys almost exclusively consist of school life moeges and derivatives.

  13. Hello again. I'm back with another progress update. Translation Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 17% (457/2691) Branch School - 10% (572/5846) Total - 4% (2820/68206) TLC Prologue - 100% (1791/1791) Main School - 6% (157/2691) Branch School - 3% (164/5846) Total - 3% (2112/68206) Edit Prologue - 67% (1202/1791) The major thing I can report this week is that TLC work on the prologue has been completely finished and Hasa will soon be able to start on his part of the TL. We are still looking for a permanent TLC to work on this project. Please PM me if you're interested in working as a TLC for this project. Well, that's all I have to report for this week. See you guys next time.

  14. Fata Morgana. You're doing yourself a disservice by not reading it.

  15. The House In Fata Morgana Edit: I'm serious, not saying Fata Morgana just to meme. It has incredible music (on par with Umineko), gorgeous art, some of the best characterization in the entire industry, and it avoids anime tropes so masterfully it's easier than any other VN to convince someone that it wasn't made by Japanese devs (it was). It's original, it's daring, it's tactful, it's a reasonable length (25-30 hours long), it's very well paced (perhaps except the first chapter).

  16. It covers a huge story in a relatively small amount of screentime, so it feels horribly rushed, especially in the first episodes. We learn very little about the characters and just jump from one situation to another in an awkward manner, mostly seeing battles and more dramatic events, skipping the character development and more casual moments that would normally be there (with a lot of visible time-skips). The protagonist is bland (although the female mage who sets the whole plot in motion is quite a cool character) and motivations of the most important characters are questionable, but it has its entertainment value with how it portrays war and politics - it's properly grim and violent, even if it ends positively (haven't seen the last episode yet).

It is the best thing. If you find it underwhelming, clearly, you are too blame. Get better taste. Tsk tsk.

  22. Yup, definitely. VNs are quite popular on the portable consoles since I've always seen releases of them on the PSP and the Vita. Now that Sony doesn't want to focus on portable consoles these days as well as Nintendo being open to third-party titles, we'll probably be seeing VNs on the Switch a fair bit now. It may take a while for other third-party publishers to get on board though since many before were quite suspect about the Switch's potential and Nintendo's previous policy about it being a "family console". Some companies are already on board with ecchi games since we've got Senran Kagura and Gal Gun 2 on it. As for me reading VNs on it, I don't really mind. I sometimes use my laptop to read VNs before going to bed so if the VNs are on the Switch, things would be even more convenient. It'll be like reading a book, lol. However, I'd still have my policy that if I buy VNs on the Switch then the original game would have to be an all-ages version from the start. If the game originally had 18+ content which got cut for the Switch version then I would buy it on the PC instead.

  23. Otomege tend to be mass-produced for portable consoles, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of them start popping up on the Switch. I also wouldn't be surprised to see non-ero versions of Light's games make their way over to the Switch as well, along with a generous samplings of other games that can do without erotic content. However, I would be greatly surprised if it goes much beyond that.

  24. I saw that the otomege company Otomate is interested in making Switch VNs, so maybe that'll be the push a needed to buy one! My pretty boys now on a bigger screeeeeen! I like to read VNs on my Vita (it was part of the reason I bought one), but Sony is doing their best to make everyone that still uses it to give up. Shame on you, Sony, I'll NTR you with Nintendo if they give me otome!!!

  25. I think it has the potential to do so. After all look how many VNs came to the Vita (even in English) and the Switch is able to offer that portability that no other current console does. Plus we're already seeing publishers like Spike Chunsoft, Aksys, PQube, and Limited Run Games move over to Switch and those are all publishers that've had a hand to play in pushing VNs on Vita (especially if you include otomes in the definition). Couple all of that with a really nice screen and hardware, and a large and growing install base, and it stands to reason that it could wind up being common for VNs to come onto Switch and possibly get more people interested in reading them. As for me I would enjoy reading VNs on it, and I'm hoping somehow that we get the Switch version of Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm to come over (not sure that that's likely though), along with anything else. I originally liked playing VNs on TV (weird, I know) but being able to combine that with playing while out and about would make it incredibly convenient and easy to play.

    How big is Fuwanovel?

This is something I'd like to post about on the front site. A community update is long-overdue and there's a lot to talk about. I haven't looked at the analytics for a few weeks, but the site's still growing traffic-wise. The front site's major traffic goes to VNTS and Reviews. Kaguya showed some of the forums data, I'll add that walkthroughs are still big. And VNTL-Moon, oddly, is still getting traffic despite being woefully outdated and buggy.

  28. Speaking of Dere.exe, look what I've stumbled upon on YouTube (7:30-21:00) ^^ I was just as impressed by the game's design as Markiplier was BTW, good job with that one. I have to get to playing Sorority Rites soon, it sits on my tablet for a week now.
