  2. Hello! So I recently finished playing "Tales of Berseria" (JRPG game by Bandai Namco) and I thought I would round up my thoughts about the game here (the review should be mostly spoiler free, otherwise notify me and I'll change it). The story tells the tale of young Velvet Crowe and her adventurous crew (surmounting to 6 by the end of the game) who set out to put an end to a trauma of Velvet's past by all manner of means, ranging from fishing and cooking to straight up fighting. Well mostly the latter. You see while you might be fooled by an early cutesy introduction the meat of the game is truly in its dark undertones which, for a game with a age rating of 16, is a fair amount of the content. I found also that the content was fairly philosophical at times (perhaps not in the amount of some VNs though). In the game you namely find yourself fighting between different values, ideas and perspectives, something the game manages in my opinion to do with fluidity and better than most games and VNs. This philosophy comes from the intimite and delicate relation the game places between cutscenes, extra dialogue (dialogue you can choose to straight up never open) and world building in which you get to take a part of not a straight up philosophy lesson but instead a smaller amount of nit picks of philosophy. In this regard I found the game interesting above the brute force gameplay and story (we will get to that later) and found myself able to enjoy not skipping every single dialogue line, something I admittedly find myself doing all too often in games. The story is very good and interesting throughout the whole game, if somewhat trope-ish (what can one expect from a JRPG game?) and while the story never managed to grab me to the point of tears it certainly has its moments for both the ones liking darker and (somewhat) lighter storylines. Is this good? Well, perhaps. I personally did not really enjoy the sudden shift the game took towards the end to become so light namely and I sort of wished the story had stuck purely to the largely dark undertones it held in the beginning, since this shift sort of opened up the door for it being trope-ish for the (in my opinion good) ending. Did this largely influence my enjoyment? Certainly not, but just something to note for those not able to stand JRPGs love for tropes. In terms of voice acting I can not speak for the English side but with Japanese voices the dialogue is very nicely voiced. The fighting (which is 50%> of the game in my opinion) is focused on different, so called, artes (attacks basically) which have different effects, elements, level upgrading (..., I was literally still getting new tutorial messages for fights 1 hour before the, ~40-ish hour, game ended). If you are like me however you will notice the little blue bar (so called "souls") next to people's faces and that is, truth be told, the MVP meter, 80% of your time will be spent waiting for this to go up to three bars and then pressing R to do some, so called, break soul ability, which is basically code name for stun lock, invincibility frames and damage central (if you want some NG+ level fighting, I am not your guy, I am the R spammer). If you do not have this bar filled you will be in the living hell mode, where you can get stun locked into the next century and can get absolutely destroyed by different AI unless you run around in circles (blocking does exist but did not work very well in my experience compared to dashing away) and wait for your blue bar (basically working as a stamina bar) to refill by attacking with basic artes and running. Is the fighting enjoyable? Yes. Is it repetitive? Yes, especially if you need to farm for levels where your life basically becomes turning down the volume to next to nought to not have to use hearing aid in the near future due to the EXTREMELY loud battle sounds (one reason I cannot really speak for the music) and getting perhaps slightly bored of seeing the same cat on a wand for the 30th time. Personally I would have perhaps liked some other battle system (with an lessened focus on stuns and the "souls" (stamina bar) and an increased focus on leveling) but I can also see the enjoyment it brings when you absolutely destroy your enemies with OP and nice animated powers. Beware however, the AOE stun of doom is real in this game so if you screw up your blue bar of destiny you are a bit in the toilet when an enemy does an AOE of half the battleground and you can neither run away, get up your souls (since it takes forever to do so) or attack (due to the extreme damage some bosses do). In terms of bosses the game too offers a wide arrange, though arguably they are later on narrowed down in terms of difficulty to their AOE attack size and ability to stun lock you and your AI friends (which are actually pretty good in my experience of not needlessly dying), since in my experience that is where the real trouble late game comes up and minor changes in attack patterns become minor. The characters are also really enjoyable and funny, making me chuckle more than once and not making one character that one guy which is boring compared to the others. The relations between the different antagonists and characters later on get really interesting too, tying in nicely with good story overall. In terms of graphics the game is generally really good, if perhaps somewhat randomly pixely at some points (I laughed when an antagonist got an 144p background randomly smashed up behind himself while he kept the same quality as the rest of the game). Out doors the quality stays pretty good too and most of the views of the game are pretty nice if looked from afar, if somewhat dulled out if you get close up. Ending thoughts Though focusing (perhaps too much) on the the battle system, Tales of Berseria is something to truly enjoy for its story and characters, which is something that brought me back to game and made the experience all the more worth it.

  3. Hey everyone. Thanks for all the comments, and for following the project. If you haven't been keeping up with the spreadsheet, Eris's route has been fully translated as of last week, and is now in the QC/editing process. I'll be working on the side stories next, before progressing onto the other main chapters. No word yet on a partial patch, but stay tuned! Cheers.

  4. It have at least a female protagonist though! Serious now, this short title developed by Alice in Dissonance, and published by Sekai Project, was released back in February and since it's not moe enough and it didn't have any h-scene or censorship, it kinda slip under everyone's radar, myself included. I find it randomly when I was looking for short novels on Steam, but I'm thankful for the amount of adorableness I found in such tiny gem. Both Mhakna and Fairy Bell from the title Mhakna Gramura and Fairy Bell tells the story of Mhakna, a young girl that prays for a Fairy for happier days, just to have her wish granted and then carried to the beautiful and magical Enles Land with her best friend Sebiarno. But there's one condition, they must promise they'll give up on growing. The story is presented in chapter format and each one show a different adventure of the two kids in a fairy tale setting. It made me remember Sekien no Inganock structure but with more hope and less repetition, or a RPG Maker game named AliceMare but happier. A thing worth mentioning is that, according the developers, Mhakna Gramura is a fairy tale written by Alissyn Rievegh, a Sanne'Ajrizdia-language (a fictional language) author in the world of Fault Milestone, Alice in Dissonance more known series. So it's a story inside a story. I know absolutely nothing about Fault and that didn't hinder my enjoyment one bit. But Mhakna does have some fictional language going on at times, probably the one mentioned above, but it's not hard to distiguish what's supposed to be a greeting and what's supposed to be food. Although halfway through, you get furigana (yes, in english) for some words. But if the idea of having furigana in english hurts your elitist soul, you can switch the the entire game language to japanese in the main menu! You also unlock a glossary by the time you finish the game, but for me it was a bit too late, I barely remember where each word was used. Protect these kids' smiiiiiiiiiles The chapters themselves are pretty short, ranging from two to ten minutes long, 20 chapter total. It really is a very short reading, but unlike the aforementioned Sekien no Inganock, each new side character you met along the way comes back at least once so you get to understand their side of the story and what made them pray for Fairy Bell. More explanations and backstory are also unlocked in the glossary, for anyone that could feel unsatisfied. Of course, nothing is all sunshine and rainbows in this VN so be prepare to be hit with some feels. One chapter in particular was quite sad, and that's also thanks to its well written children characters, who actually act and think like children for 95% of the time. The art is incredibly good. The game doesn't have sprites, instead the background image transitions along with the lines, enhancing the story book feels. Some parts of the images have very simple animations (like when we can see Fairy Bell moving up and down when she's hovering, rain and tears falling, etc), and that added a lot of charm and uniqueness to this experience. The coloring is very pretty as well. And even the music! The tracks are a mix of relaxing and lively tracks, but the music for sad and weird moments also do their job well. Everything in this novel, art, music and story blended together really well. There's no voice acting, but the game is short, so it'll be over before you starting missing voice acting. Even the side characters are so adorable... After playing and seeing a lot of dark and gritty games or VNs where sex is your only reward, a innocent, pure and a bit childish game like this was a nice breath of fresh air in between longer reads. Even if it's pretty short, it's well worth its 5 USD price. If you're a sucker for fairy tale inspired stories, like me, this VN is satisfying!

  5. If they kept the shitposting to where it was appropriate, there wouldn't be any trouble. I won't say 'keep it in the coliseum' (because that isn't going to happen), but I would like to think they would at least know that there is a time and place for everything... and places where inappropriate behavior both should and will be punished, regardless of how 'harmless' they see their actions as being.

  6. Considering that all the "attacks" come from a clique of bored old-timers that either always did it or can't be bothered to post seriously anymore, it's at least very easily controllable as long as there are admins present on the Forums from time to time. I really disliked when a few months ago the site was literally dominated by shitposts and barely anything posted was worth reading. I'm pretty sure it also looked terrible from the outside, when guests and newcomers tried to see what's going on around here or to evaluate the site. It was exceeding any reasonable limits. And yes, the spamming crew mostly had fun in their own little circle while everyone else seemed to observe it with annoyance or apathy. Thank God (or maybe rather Kaguya) that we're past that era. And with shitposts in general... I shipost/derail stuff somewhat regularly, but didn't even get a warning so far. This means that either there's some horrible bias involved, or there are some common-sense distinctions between having fun from time to time and making a total mess. Forum without shitposts is boring. Forum with mostly shiposts is unproductive and unreadable for anyone not intimately involved with the "meta" side of things. And I rather like where the line is drawn right now.

  7. As the title suggest this is a list of the VNs released in english that has a physcial release. I personally love to have physcial copies of VNs as I like collecting things. I recently made a list with the VNs that have official english releases and figured I could use that to make this list. I have marked availablility with colour, red means no longer available, blue means officially available but hard to get (generally things like conventions) yellow means currently available but only for a short period and orange is not yet opened for pre order. Also if I make some mistakes when making the list please say so. Things that are marked as not available could potentially be found at places like Amazon or Ebay, since I didn't include pages like this for availability. There might be sales or discounts on some sites but not other sites, so if you are thinking of buying it and would rather save some money I would recommend to go through the sites selling it, mainly Mangagamer, Jlist and rightstufanime. I guess I should also go a bit more into details about what I mean by limited time, this includes physicals that are only sold through a kickstarter within a limited time as well as titles that seem to go out of stock soon. MangaGamer ( Store ) JAST USA ( Store ) Sekai Project (Homepage)/Denpasoft Front Wing (Homepage) Other Himeya Soft (Bankrupt) Hirameki International (Quit the VN market) Console

  10. Welcome to Fuwanovel, and sorry for the belated greeting here. As for Southeast Asia, is there any chance that you came from Indonesia as well? If so, nice to meet another fellow from the same country here. Also if you need more VNs recommendation, you can ask us here. I hope you'll have fun here. PS - As for the terms that Tymmur explained in his own understanding, let me explain those in more objective way. Moege: The VN with heavy focus on cutesy, and in turn most of route based VN can be classified as this MoeNovel: Pulltop's branch that's responsible for overseas release, and getting infamous because they cut the sex scenes for overseas release Loli: Just like moege only with childlike heroine, usually get some controversy because of lolicon nature (Please don't discuss about this here) MT: Using some device that have same function as Google Translate to translate the VN, and it's widely unacceptable because usually Google Translate translation is mostly inaccurate HCG: The CG that depict sex act Plotge: The VN that did have some overarching arc instead of usual route based VN, mostly linear VN although there's some exception though H scene: The sex scenes in Visual Novels (VN) Manga: Japanese term for comic book Nukige: Visual Novel that was focused on sex rather than the story, and thus regarded as less than average VN Kamige: The VN that was widely regarded as the best VN (ie Subahibi, Steins Gate, Muv Luv Alternative)

  11. Same here and I would say pretty much the same. The forum is a nice place to show up on and in order to keep it that way, it is important to be able to have serious topics. At the same time it is boring if it's too strict with stay on topic. For instance the other day somebody made a typo while writing meet and it came out "protagonist meats heroine". I mentioned something about turning into a H scene or whatever, got a laughing reaction and that's it. It was funny, yet no replied to that and as such no topic derailment. The main topic of the tread was about some technical problem and it ended up being solved. In fact the other part of my post was on to the problem with an explanation to what went wrong. I consider this a decent example of a good balance between "shitposting" and staying on topic. According to my own view, I never shitpost, but I suspect some people would claim otherwise. I never got a warning either, but I suspect it's due to careful consideration of what I post. When I have written a post, I read it prior to posting to make sure it came out as I planned. It happens once in a while that I abandon posting because it didn't come out right and would be more annoying than fun or informative. If it's supposed to be fun, the goal should be to laugh with somebody, not laugh at somebody. It's particularly if I feel I got that one wrong that I decide not to post anyway. I also evaluate the seriousness of a topic before posting something, which could involve a risk of derailing the thread. The self filtering is working great and the fact that I have never been warned is proof of that. I'm with you completely with this statement. Reading what unlimitedmoeworks wrote, I decided the correct action for me was to open up and say "I completely understand you. I tried something like that too". I have been in the VN community since 2011 and what I wrote is something I never mentioned before and actually didn't plan to mention. I left it behind me, yet I wrote a long post because I sensed it was the right thing to do. While I wrote, the trolling took place and completely derailed the thread. Since I didn't read the new posts, I didn't notice and wrote about how it's my impression that behavior like that isn't a problem on Fuwa because I almost never encounter it. Once posted, I got upset because first of all I looked like a fool for posting "trolling is not an issue" after a bunch of troll posts. However that's not the worst. It wasn't easy for me to write and I spent ages writing and now I feel like it would be better if I didn't because the trolling took focus away from the topic and my post seems completely ignored. I feels horrible to open up about something and then "we are having fun. Screw you". I wonder if unlimitedmoeworks feels the same way. Because of the topic, I suspect it could be the worst case of trolling in fuwa history. Actually I would go as far as to say this is past trolling and enters the domain of bullying. I suspect it's due to ignorance, but for the victims it does cause damage just as much as if they did it intentionally. I would have to add that I actually had planned to use the time right now for (internal tasks not published) for the Musumaker translation project. Now I'm not in a good mood and will likely end up not getting anything done today at all because of this.

  13. As simple as the question is, i have a feeling everyone has some interesting stories behind how they got into this medium, As for me, getting into Vns was a long winded journey, It all initially started when i got into anime. Very often i would i see vns being talked here and there in anime forums, but i didnt pay too much attention to it. For starters, i was not very invested in reading and from the few screenshots i saw here and there, i felt like there was a barrier which stopped me from getting into it. This is also due to the fact, i was just getting into anime and i was more comfortable with western shows and series at that time. But before i knew it, i was hooked into anime and an issue became apparent very quickly, which left me a bit surprised. After i spent years binging anime, i started to notice a lack of quality shows, or shows i liked to be exact. Im the type of person that binges anything i like, so in 2-3 years i was done with every notable anime and watched most of the hidden gems to all the garbage romcoms that came out every fall. Thus i realized i needed a change of pace Enter phase 2: Manga Now with having exhausted my list of anime (from 90s-2010+) and having gotten accustomed to the medium in general, i was ready for manga. At that time i was bored and needed something to fill the void. I personally could not read manga from a computer as it felt clunky and browsers on my phone felt tedious. Then i stumbled upon Manga rock, which held my hand for 3-4 more years, where i had some of the most memorable time reading. This was a time of excitement, where i found near infinite things to read whilst not getting tired of the medium which i had not predicted. After all, i was never much for reading, but this got me invested and slowly i stopped watching anime all together and started enjoying Manga's more (who said reading manga isn't beneficial, it single handedly got me into reading!). But slowly after i kept binging on manga the inevitable reality was soon becoming apparent, i had somehow managed to exhaust even this medium. I had kept reading day and night (mostly night), in between shifts and bus rides, it was soon becoming apparent this medium was not gonna last forever. Alas all good things must come to an end, i soon realized that most the manga i haven't read are just 1-2 chapters and ongoing. I had read all the obscure manga from Love in hell, to almost all the english manhwa and it was becoming hard to find stuff that was enjoyable to read Enter Phase 3: Visual Novels At this stage i started reading books and novels not related to anime or manga. I had broadened my horizons and therefore i started reading anything that fancied my taste. But there was a hole left behind, a void that always reminded me: what if there was a medium that joined both manga and anime but offered more flexibility? And lo and behold, i started getting into VN's, a medium that i considered to be very dismissive about in the past. The first one i played was G-senjou maou, which was very interesting to say the least. For starters the first thing that caught my attention mid-way through the game was: "Holy shit, for once it matters which characters i like". Even though G-senjou has a different approach to each heroine and plot progression compared to other VNs, the fact that what i had a choice was a concept that blew me away. Never before did anime or mangas offer that flexibility. Before i knew it, this became possibly the best medium i had interacted with. Infact, i thought it was a better Death Note in a sense that i found its ending to be quite satisfying and it wasnt a typical cliched ending or anything soft, which it could have easily gone for. Comparing the two isn't exactly fair i guess, but its better than mindlessly questioning morals and then throwing away an epic story with a subpar ending with convoluted decision making (cough death note cough). This lead me to reading Fate, Ever17, Karin and really got me hooked into VN's. Now this is where i stand, fascinated and engrossed in a medium which i know will offer hundreds of hours more of enjoyment, the story behind how i got into VNs might not be too interesting i suppose, but it did get me thinking: "How did other get into it?" I initially avoided VNs since it looked over the top and was kinda hard getting into, as i was accustomed more to western media i guess, but im very happy that i did manage to get into it, otherwise i would be missing out.

  14. If you have firefox installed and is not updating it, then it will have known security exploits and should not be used online. When some software request the browser to open a certain URL, the system should open it in the default browser. I have more than once tried that it ended up not using the default browser and if it picks the outdated firefox, you risk that it will access a hacked page, which uses an unpatched security hole (because it's outdated). Just having an outdated browser installed is a security issue even if you never open it yourself. How likely it is that some application will ask your computer to open an infected page and bypass the default browser is another question, but the risk is not 0%.

  15. This is a pretty good suggestion, @tymmur. The gif bats posted was pretty gentle compared to similar vibrating gifs, like the one kiri posted. I don't know that many people that have similar problems with those types of gifs. It might be a good idea to get that problem checked out.

  17. Now the very same thread got trolled again. Solidbatman posted a post with no text, but only an animated gif, which vibrates heavily. This instantly gave me a headache and I have been lying down for the 40 minutes. I'm feeling a bit better, but I'm still far from how I felt before seeing that post and I have no idea when I will have fully recovered. In a worst case scenario it won't be until tomorrow. This has got to stop. It's the second day in a row trolls in that thread has hurt my productivity (translation project and otherwise) and the thread is not even 24 hours old yet. Even worse it makes me feel bad, both physically and mentally. I have never tried anything like this on Fuwa before. This time for the first time ever I felt like I had no choice but to report a post on Fuwa.

  21. I'm puzzled by the number of people claiming to shitpost and decided to look up the word. Wikipedia goes as far as to say "intended to derail discussions or otherwise make the site unusable to its regular visitors". Somehow I believe a number of people claiming to be shitposting aren't really shitposting. Quoting somebody to point out they said something unintended or funny is not shitposting even if it is off topic. Shitposting is when a group of people show up and make post after post unrelated to the topic and unrelated to what other people said and it's only funny for those doing the shitposting. The shitposting today was.. well I'm not sure. It was a bunch of people writing multiple posts in a very short timespan. Even though I read it I can't tell you what they wrote about because I didn't get it and I suspect the answer is nothing. It was just a bunch of sentences without any real contents. No, it would be horrible and downright blasphemy towards the goddess of VNs. You are however allowed to make fun posts about VNs and VN themes.

  22. I started wondering about the quote about not understanding experts and then it hit me to write a funny post like this. However it turned out to be harder to write than it looks because I didn't make up anything. There is a true explanation for each, while at the same time it's intended to make people laugh a bit while reading it. It was also important to make it "far out" to make it clear that my goal wasn't to make an encyclopedia. People are split in the question if moege is good or bad and making a bold statement will likely trigger a debate (again). MoeNovel is unpopular for editing out adult contents and deliver translations of questionable quality. The thread about how you started reading VNs indicates that it's common to be lured in by (adult) screenshots, but then stay for the story. It's also commonly agreed upon that H scenes are often written horribly. MT = Machine Translation. I tried it to see what all the fuss is about and while it does work, the quality is very much hit and miss and you will completely destroy any story by not being able to read all lines. Since it takes quite a while to learn how to use MT, you are better off spending the time studying Japanese if you have to pick one of those. And don't worry too much about experts being hard to understand. It's not like I get everything people talk about, but you can always look up words. Asking is also an option, which should be used if you can't look up the word in question.

  23. Really nice review! I absolutely loved Berseria it was definitely one of the best rpgs I have played and I only put it below Vesperia. The characters were definitely part of why I loved it so much. I pretty much loved them the moment they were introduced (well Laphicet had to grow on me) Velvet was such a great protagonists, truly among the best. I do agree about the combat it get's pretty repetitive especially if you played some of the more recent Tales games. I also thought the ending was a bit lackluster but I still enjoyed it.

  28. But see, that's the thing, right? With visual novels, sure, the art is important, but what should be the most important is the story itself. :/ You'd think a company specializing in visual NOVELS would know better than to write in such an awful way. Or maybe I'm overreacting. The vast majority of the reviews on Steam are very complimentary =_=;;;

Global Moderators and Board Moderators are responsible for carrying out the rules and it is up to them to interpret them and carry out an appropriate punishment for each situation. Lolicon/Shotacon Policy Pedophilia is an extremely complicated and sensitive real-life issue, and presents a significant challenge to visual novel communities who want to promote thoughtful discussion but are faced with strict laws on one hand and deplorable internet rhetoric/insensitivity on the other. Many of you are aware of how far back and how divisive this issue has been. To protect the site from legal action and to resolve this issue once and for all, we have chosen to amend the site rules as follows. We're trying to strike a delicate balance here -- acknowledging this is part of the VN medium, and sensitive discussions of these topics are important. The new policy: Fuwanovel is not the place to discuss the nuances of pedophilia – in real life or in entertainment. Because they are a part of the traditional VN heritage of Japanese games, we acknowledge that mature, focused discussions of “loli” characters and routes within a visual novel are valid, and we will allow them within the Visual Novel discussion boards, but beyond those confines, Fuwanovel is just not the place for this topic. We have also clarified our rules for posted or linked images of "lolis" on the boards, which can be read below: Brass Tacks: If you want to discuss a “loli” character or route in a visual novel, you can do so in the VN boards with the caveat that crude, inflammatory, provocative or aggressive posts will be grounds for a topic’s deletion, without warning Outside the realm of Visual Novels, Fuwanovel is simply not the place to discuss this complicated issue, and we ask you to avoid casual references to-, or discussions about-, pedophilia and the sexuality/sensuality of underage people or characters. This includes avoiding discussion or mention of porn- or sex-simulation games featuring underage or underage-appearing characters to the forums. Rules for images, avatars, and signatures: Do not post sexual pictures of underage characters. If an image is focused on, accentuates, or exaggerates a character's nipples, vulva, or penis or positions them sensually (body position, wet panties, nearly naked, etc.), you should not post it and it will be taken down. No erotic form Toddlercon is not allowed. Post will be taken down and you will either get warning or ban. Attitudes of the staff vary significantly on this issue, but this policy is presented – purposefully – without moral commentary. This is a tricky issue which presents real risks for the stability of the site, and ensuring the community’s longevity simply has to come first. Thread rules These rules are meant to keep threads as clean and free of trouble as possible. Please try to keep responses on-topic and meaningful. Don't derail threads. Don't spam threads. Don't double post repeatedly. Don't post for the sake of posting. Don't necrobump threads without the intent of continuing the discussion. Don't post seizure inducing GIFs without a spoiler and a warning labeling it as such. Any posts that are seen to fit in these categories or seen to be harmful to the thread risk being moved or deleted, or at worse getting the entire thread locked. Additionally some boards have their own specific rules, please see related topics inside each one of Fuwanovel's boards (they are usually pinned at the top). Blog Rules Blogs are meant to be personal and we try to respect everyone's rights to write about the things they like, however if a blog post is seen to break any content rules, staff holds the right to delete the entry as they see fit. Signature and Avatar Guidelines No explicit nudity (genitalia and female nipples are in this category) No avatars or signatures featuring sexualized loli/shota characters No pornography (this includes implied sexual acts and bodily fluids) No gore (disembowelment, dismemberment, torture, etc.) No offensive content (profanity, hate speech, offensive symbolism, etc.) No seizure inducing GIFs (or GIFs that make people's eyes bleed in general) No signatures exceeding 400 Kbs in filesize Reporting Content Whenever you come across content on the forums which breaks one of these rules, please report it using the report button underneath said post and explain why it's breaking the rules. Any member, no matter how new, has the right to report posts. You will not be punished for reporting any post, even if your report is deemed unjustified* *While reporting a post is fine, spamming reports in order to troll/abuse the report system is not and can lead to you to getting a warning. In case of doubt: If you have any doubts about how to proceed in any situation or if said situation is not listed here, please contact one of the online Global Moderators via Personal Message with your inquiry. Global Moderators have a blue usercolor at the bottom of the forum for easier identification. In case none of them are online during that time, the list of Global Moderators as well as the rest of the Fuwanovel Staff can be found here so you can message one of them. Rule Enforcement We trust Fuwanovel users to keep their composure when the situation calls for it. In any case of a serious infraction a Global Moderator is responsible for carrying out an appropriate punishment that can handle the situation effectively for both sides. Smaller punishments like revoking the ability to post content for a period of time can be given out if the situation calls for it (namely for spamming and trolling), without granting a warning point if a Global Moderator sees fit to do so. Warning Points are only given out to reoccurring or serious offenders that do not heed either rules or previous warnings. A Global Moderator is in charge of deciding whether or not a user deserves a warning point. Global Moderators are free to give harsher punishments like suspensions if they clearly notice the violation is severe or has ill intent behind it. There is a 3 Warning Point cap and when a user receives a 3rd warning point, they acknowledge they are putting their account in jeopardy and risk being banned permanently. Do not evade bans, if you create a second account to evade your ban, you risk getting it lengthened. If you feel you were not justly banned, you can PM a Global Moderator with your reasoning and that Global Moderator will bring it up for discussion with the rest of the staff to see if it is valid or not. In case a warning point was given out and a ban is proven to be unjustified, your warning point will automatically be revoked. In case your ability to post content was revoked and it is proven to be unjustified, it will be rectified. Username Changes To prevent user-confusion, the ability to change your username at whim has been removed from the user control panel. To change your username, please PM one of the global mods with your desired new user display name and your reason for making the change. Username changes require a strong reason and motivation to be changed, and will otherwise be denied to prevent confusion on the forums. User Title Changes User titles (the titles you see below your avatar) can be changed at any time by making a contribution to the community. Here are a few examples of ways to help out. When you've completed your good deed, please report to a Global Moderator, who can make the change for you. Assisting in coding projects and/or working on the front site; Helping with forums projects; Writing a walkthrough for a game; Writing an article for the Visual Novel Aer blog; Posting 500+ posts on the forums (posts in the "Coliseum of Chatter" do not add to this count); Or something else you can think of! Note: Users with 500+ posts have, in simply posting so regularly, helped to build the site. Thank you for your contributions! We hope you'll keep it up. These users can change their user title at any time from the user CP. Definitions These definitions serve as guidelines to define certain types of content. In case of doubt on whether or not something fits within one of these categories, a Global Moderator can make the judgement call. Spam Content without any purpose, coherency or relevance whatsoever. Singular spam posts are deleted without warning. If a user makes many spam posts in one thread or singular spam posts across many threads, then they are subject to a punishment. Threads or blog posts made for self-promotion (such as links to off-site personal blogs) should be limited to one (either a blog post or a thread) per product being promoted, because such promotion is more easily perceived as spam. Derailing Going completely off topic in a thread, this can result in the thread being locked or moved to a more appropriate section depending on whether or not it's salvageable. Harassment & Abuse This involves aggressive pressure or intimidation and can based off of things like racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. This will never be tolerated anywhere on the forum, even in private messages, and severe punishment will be applied to any cases of it. Posting for the sake of posting Posting several times in a thread without trying to move the discussion forward and only to increase post count and/or to troll/spam. Necrobumping threads without the intent of moving the discussion forward also falls into this category. NSFW Content that is too sexually explicit or excessively violent that could offend certain age groups. For something to be sexually explicit it must show either genitals, female nipples or sexual acts. Trolling Starting arguments or upsetting users by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the intent of provoking users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. Insults An insult is a derogatory remark that labels an individual or group of users. Name-calling is not productive and typically derails the topic by turning the discussion to the credibility of the user(s). It never convinces the other party and often provokes a similar reaction from other posters. The resulting commotion is ineffective for the offender, offensive for the target, distracting for spectators and tiring for the staff.
