As someone who's still new in the VN scene, I haven't came across much characters in other VNs I would legitimately hate for moral reasons other than just simple annoyance. However, there is one character that I utterly despise from Grisaia no Kajitsu.

  2. Yeah I havn't finished it but I definitely enjoyed it. I love their expressions! Yeah it really was I don't think there was a episode I didn't love. And yeah there were plenty of times that a vicious sandstorm blew into my room while I was watching it.

  3. Death row. I escaped, though some wish I hadn't. Kill a guy loudly and messily, during the day, in a public area and weirdly people just won't stop screaming. Then the cops arrive and they're even louder ...

  4. I watched the first episode of Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, totally adored it. Hilarious and charming - plus I love the all-male cast play on the typical "cute girls doing cute things". Sadly it's only 12 eps, I'll have to savour it.

  5. At the same time I had seen even less people that actually played and berated it lol It just goes to show how there's way too few english-speaking readers to make serious assumptions about anything. I also seriously doubt that most of those VNDB voters have ever read it, even machine-translated, we do have a culture of "I'll just look at dem CGs and rate my hype for the game" in the West.

  7. Yeah, it's definitely an important topic, after all western VNs have to differentiate in some ways to actually get any kind of footing, being "like the Japanese stuff but without the budget" is not really a place you want your game to be in as a developer. For now, I think, the biggest source of strenght for OELVNs is different profile of the creators (a lot of women and people that don't blindly copy the more problematic tropes typical for Japanese media). I absolutely adore some things that come from Yuri Game Jam or NaNoRenO because of the originality and passion involved in those projects, but also how they construct female characters and romance. But these are mostly very niche products produced by individuals or tiny teams, bigger studios need to have a bit more courage in finding their own paths for the genre to lose a bit of its "weeb" stigma and have any chance to reach a broader audience, or even to get proper respect from the current VN fanbase. And the fact that people always argue both ways with this topic simply means there's no one "right" approach, the quality of the end effect is most important. Although, the market seems to be getting oversaturated, being generic is probably the worst thing you can do in a time like this (unless you can offer enough shiny anime boobs to bait in the ecchi crowd, after all, the VN sales on Steam might be going to s****, but not for Nekopara and Sakura games :p).

  8. My confession is that I pay Nutaku to pay me to play a free-to-play game, and I've spent the past year writing a pseudo PhD dissertation on this game.

  9. So the Getchu Bishoujo Game Awards 2017 for the most popular VN's of last year are finally out and the winner is... Kin'iro Loveriche from Saga Planets. The full list of the best 20 titles hereinafter: 1.) Kin'iro Loveriche by Saga Planets (Also first place in categories Scenario, Music and Characters with Souma Ria) 2.) Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart 2 by Harukaze 3.) Making*Lovers by Smee 4.) Hikari no Umi no Apeiria by Silky's Plus Dolce 5.) Aoi Tori by Purple Software (Also first place in category MOVIE) 6.) Bakumatsu Jinchuu Houkoku Resshiden Miburo by Inre 7.) ChronoBox by No Brand 8.) Suisou Ginka no Istoria by Uguisu Kagura 9.) Ouchi ni Kaeru made ga Mashimaro Desu by Marmalade (Also first place in category ERO) 10.) Amayui Castle Meister by Eushully (Also first place in category System) 11.) Shigokare ~Ecchi na Joshi Daisei to Doki x2 Love Lesson!!~ by Atelier Kaguya Bare & Bunny (NSFW) 12.) Trinoline by Minori (Also first place in category Graphics) 13.) Haruru Minamo ni! by Clochette 14.) Ouka Sabaki by Irodori 15.) Choukou Shinki Ixseal by Alice Soft 16.) Niizuma Lovely x Cation by Hibiki Works 17.) Silverio Trinity by Light 18.) Kizuna Kirameku Koi Iroha by CRYSTALIA 19.) Koinosu ☆ Ichacolize by eRONDO 20.) Kotonoha Amrilato by SukeraSparo Personal comments: There was already a bit of a hype about Kin'iro Loveriche, so it doesn't really come as a surprise that it won the Getchu awards, even if I would have made my bet on Clochette's Harumina. Nice to see Minori back on the graphics throne. I think it goes back to ef and Eden when they last got it. Though I think I liked their old style a bit more. Having Ouchi ni Kaeru made ga Mashimaro Desu win the ero awards is... slightly surprising, considering it looks more like an all ages game. Looks like Eushully are back, even if they are not at the top yet. Seems like Dergonu was right - ChronoBox seems a lot more popular in Japan than in the west. Is Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart really getting an English translation or was it just a fake announcement about 2 years ago? Miburo seems to be a bit lower ranked than its predecessor ChuSingura overall, though maybe that's just because its not 'new' anymore. I think at least the graphics are better. I'm somewhat interested in Ouka Sabaki - the theme of murder mystery in past Japan looks very interesting.

    Konnichiwa~!

Hi, everyone! I'm new to this forum I've read VNs once, and somehow stopped playing a few years ago, but my passion to VNs is rekindled recently. In fact, I'm japanese and played lots of VNs in japanese, then felt kinda I've-read-enough-VNs feeling, but these days I start reading them in english, that gives me quite a new perspective of VNs, so I want to read more! My all time favorites are tomoyo after (i played 3 times), clannad (2 times), and wonderful everyday. The day I finished clannad, I rushed into a video games store to get tomoyo after and slim PS2 console... the good old days I liked story-riched games before but for now my tastes are moege or nukige (currently playing wagamama highspec). sorry for bad english, and feel free to send a PM if there's anything I can do about learning Japanese or whatever I like anime, JRPG, light novels, and manga (incl. hentai) as well. I hope to make friends, learn and have fun!

  11. Did you ever see the Alternative timeline? It has a lot of information about what happened after. http://muvluv.wikia.com/wiki/Alternative_Timeline Though I do suppose it would be nice to have a little spin off like their unlimited ones.

  12. I really want more Sekien no Inganock after stories. There some webnovels already, but they didn't answered the only question I wanted an answer!!!!! Zombie no Afureta Sekai ends just when the novel is getting good... And this gakuen spin off of a mafia series that was announced as an April's Fool CURSE YOU KARIN NOW I WANT IT!!!

  13. I would love to see a Tsukihime sequel but as seeing as Type Moon is content to milk the Fate license until the end of time it probably won't happen. I don't see the point in having a sequel of Alternative considering that everything really wrapped up nicely.

  14. I really want to know what happened after the end of Muv-Luv Alternative. Really, this VN needs an actual sequel. Other than that, I wouldn't mind a sequel to Rewrite with a different protagonist and heroines, set in the world after the true end, but we will definitely never get it, so it's just a dream.

She's probably my 2nd most hated. At least her actual scenes didn't tick me off. Besides (Grisaia no Meiyuu spoilers below)....

  17. Thank you, Ranzo! Our time estimations keep differ, but during this week I'm going to measure it and give some solid answer. I'm glad you find the project interesting! : ) We have a great week behind us and a very promising one coming up next. Not only we participated in an interview for TwoHappyCats blog, but we actually made a gigantic progress making the game's prototype. We had a huge delay, but it finally starts looking pretty good... Though we still have a lot of graphics to complete. Such as these ones! We almost finished portraying our villagers and they are turning out great. For this #screenshotsaturday, we're sharing one happy family - Mita, Castus and their only son, Pudens. These farmers are the owners of the best fields in Windy Meadow, but their most important source of income is definitely the apiary and their mead-producing business.

  18. Honestly, machine tls are almost never worth it imo. You basically just spoil the main events in the story while missing all the details that actually make the story good.

I have a new contender for character who I hate. And it's not even close. The Father from Lucy, the Eternity she wished for. Every single scene with him seriously upset me. An absolutely miserable person who is so quick to anger. And he was already my most hated, before.... And for the record, I try my hardest not to hate anyone, and to forgive any character (even some of the Grisaia villains).

  21. Oh, yeah, definitely. IIRC, Lilith even says to Setsuna that they could bang at the end of her route, and it kinda ticked me off, since it was like rubbing salt in the wound. Don't tease h in an all-ages game, it's not fair (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  24. Never7 could do with some H-Scenes. Only one character's dubious, with the rest being college students, and the romance is real in this title. Additionally, there's another title I would perhaps have enjoyed the presence of H-Scenes in (even if I ended up skipping them). Nurse Love Addiction could have probably gotten away with it, if it had tried. Though there is reason to believe that making it 18+ would lower the impact of the story, so I won't complain. Also, Otome games in general are free to be more daring. I'll always welcome them. Though implied sex is often just as efficient. Err... I guess console games could stand to be more daring. I don't need H-Scenes per say, but most all ages stuff stays away from cuddling, kissing or most implied intimacy. I just feel like I'm not getting my fix, I suppose would be the crass way to put it. I mean, Nagisa got pregnant in Clannad. YOU KNOW HOW THAT HAPPENED?! BABIES DON'T GROW IN TREES! I am, as it happens, not that much of a fan of H-Scenes themselves, but I can do with intimacy between characters. If the game pulls that off well, I'm fine with it.

  27. Hi guys, I'm Ben and this is my first visual novel that I've made by myself one-man-band style. I'm a professional concept artist who's been working on other people's projects for 8 years and finally decided to make something for my own. I hope you guys can help me on this journey Honest critiques are welcome. The game is coming out on Steam soon, you can visit the page here. Plot: Set in Salem, 1692, at the height of witch hysteria, a family is found murdered in their home ans suspicion quickly falls to something supernatural behind it all. This is a murder mystery where you will investigate the crime and sieve through the evidence the witnesses provide, deduct an outcome and piece together the bigger picture. There are multiple characters that you can accuse of the crime and will need to be thorough to connect all the evidence together. Thanks for looking. Here's some screenshots for ya

I havn't played many visual novels ....... but some characters in the Grisaia trilogy can be unbelievable jerkholes (especially some of them related to the backstories of the heroines and the protag).

Went to High School, crushed on a girl through most of it, went nowhere with said girl, did the whole mediocre student thing, went home on the school bus, developed my amazing music taste, read some mad books. Oh I joined Minitokyo in 2007 and had some of the best times on that site. Graduated in 09 and picked up Visual Novels soon after. @MaggieROBOT I'm having fun trying to imagine you like that
