  1. If I understood his post, he's just trying to say that offering the all-ages and 18+ variations of a game is objectively a win-win. Trying to find a boundary between "what is and isn't expected to be censored" is highly subjective and you still end up with unhappy people no matter which position you choose on that matter. I'm personally in agreement with the former (offer all variations; let customers decide). I'd rather have that than someone trying to over-analyze what is/isn't suitable for this market (not insinuating you in this case; IMHO the problem is more broad than the argument we're having in this thread). Ultimately what MoeNovel is currently doing doesn't matter. I've had to say the same thing to folks getting upset over the EA loot box fiasco. If you don't like what a company is doing, don't buy their shit. It's the only way we're going to get them to change, no matter how many threads we start on Fuwanovel about it (although I will admit, I do like an outlet to complain, especially when I feel the situation won't change in the long term).

  2. Nobody's trying to make Moenovel/Pulltop look like the good guys. You need to stop snapping at people over this, and you also need to stop telling other people the kinds of games they should or shouldn't be playing. I enjoy eroge with or without the h-scenes, and this preference is none of your business. I think it's silly to not offer 18+ options for eroge. It would be best if there was that option, and I'd use it if it was available. I also think it's okay to present people with accurate information as to what is and isn't expected to be censored, and I don't understand why you're lashing out against people trying to do so.

  3. The problem is that this is still censorship when the full version isn't released. All other localization companies offers the full version through a patch or on a different website. The only reason steam always has censored releases is because that's Steam's policy, and Steam is the biggest VN platform in the west. But Moenovel doesn't offer the original in any way. I am glad that they have at least (seemingly, we'll have to wait and see for sure,) stopped literally censoring anything from kissing to innuendos, but the problem still remains; they only localize eroge, then censor them and slap them on steam. Some people might be okay with having H-scenes removed, but that doesn't mean it's okay. This is eroge we are talking about. If you don't want H-scenes in them, you're playing the wrong genre. Please stop trying to make Moenovel look like the good guys here. They still censor their games, and they still ignore all fan feedback. If you're going to cover this game in the VNTS, please make a disclaimer saying it has been censored, and that supporitng them advocates that. If people keep supporting Moenovel, they'll keep repeating the same shit over and over. The only way to make them stop is to cut off their money. Trying to tell them what the west wants hasn't worked. People have been doing that since If My Heart Had Wings launched. All they think about is money, and they get that when people keep on buying their censored crap. The VN localization scene has come so far in the past couple of years. We're finally at a point where censorship doesn't happen that much anymore. Most new eroge localizations gets their respective 18+ versions, and all-ages versions for those who wants that. Everybody wins. So when a company like Moenovel starts censoring stuff without offering the original anywhere, they are ruining the great thing the west has finally started building. Don't support companies like them; we deserve better.

  4. That's a problem for some, but not for everyone (I don't really give too much of a shit, for instance). The further censorship that happened in IMHHW was a much bigger dealbreaker for many. The actual biggest issue is that the IMHHW translation that was pure garbage. We still have no confidence that it will be any better in this release. I explained what Moenovel exactly is and how they translate things in this week's VNTS, if you're interested:

  5. Almost towards the end of Nights of Azure 2 It's still a pretty mediocre action jrpg at the end of the day, but the one thing it has over the first game is having an actual band of female characters instead of being limited to just the Arnice + Lilysse duo So you can have some decent (yuri) interaction moments like this rofl That's gotta be the best comedic usage of the whole music-cutting-out shenanigans ive seen in a while xD

    What are you playing?

    Finished Amane's route in Grisaia.

  7. To be honest considering the game is made by pulltop it is quite expected that moenovel would be behind the localisation. So it is being released in a way we expected, just not the way we want it.

  8. I can relate to this immensely. I'm in the middle of college applications, as well as a whole other bunch of shit (personal hygiene issues, best friend no longer talks to me and it's my fault, forgot some important belongings at school and I have to spend much of tomorrow running around to find those) so I have no time to be surfing the web either.

  9. It's one of those shows that if you like it, it's a gem of loveliness and enjoyable characters and interactions. Me, I was bored stupid and gave up. I think if you grew up on the whole Japanese youkai thing and personifying them you may get a lot out of it but it did not work for me on any level no matter how "nice" it looked.

  12. I envy you, having time to be bored. When I'm on the forums too much it means I'm procrastinating, while a huge pile of urgent reading, writing etc. is waiting for me. That's maybe a good confession material BTW? I'm dyslectic and a slow reader because of that, while I'm also trying to pursue academic career (which requires huge amounts of efficient reading) and recently stopped playing games other than VNs. Am I doing that whole "life" thing the wrong way?

  14. 1. My no.1 is definitely Ayakashibito, this is the peak production by 東出祐一郎, full of really great fights. 2. Muv-Luv: I rank Muv-Luv no.2 because almost everyone dead, which is not my liking. 3. Demonbane Series, well I still remeber Al so well although I played like 13 years ago. 4. Soukou Akki Muramasa: N+ is really good at this type of games. 5. Other N+ games like 月光のカルネヴァーレ, 塵骸魔京 etc

  17. Hmm, It would certainly be something of Dies Irae, but I don't know which one to pick as a top 1. - Shirou vs Bey last fight in Kasumi's route was absurdly awesome, an human being vs a monster itself and the twists and turns Shirou made was amazing. - The super collosally overpowered final fight in Rea's route gave me chills of hype, seriously, and was awesome too.

  18. This week the translation was (Sorry) slowed down because Trip himself was sick for a week. Anyway here's the update for this week even though it's not much below: Common Route Part 1: 100.0% Common Route Part 2: 100.0% Ai: 100.0% Renna: 0.0% Maki: 65.80% Saeko: 0.0% Total: 65.96% What I could say is that at least when Urrim resume his editing work again it should be take less time to caught up with the translated part, and the regression was not much if that would be happen. Anyway, hope that Trip would have good rest and get well soon. That's all for this week.

  19. 1) Silverio Vendetta - Zephyr's first battle (vs Libra and foot soldiers). It is probably the single coolest one-sided massacre that I've ever seen in a VN... and it serves as a perfect introduction to Zephyr as a character. 2) Devils Devel Concept - Sora vs Kanata. A great fight all-around, but it is made even cooler by the sheer scale of what they are doing, lol. 3) Vermilion Bind of Blood - Fake Tri-finger vs Toshirou. Vermilion has about nine battle scenes that I would consider to be up there at the top, but when he faces off against the fake Tri-finger for a final time in one of the paths (I'm not spoiling it), they are both so awesome... I was tempted to put Hakushaku vs Toshirou or White Pile (retired) vs Army of Testaments (seriously, one of the top five best scenes in this vein) 4) Tiny Dungeon Brave or Slave - Hime vs Gen - Hime is an inspiring warrior overall, but this fight is great. 5) Dies Irae (take either of the final battles from Maries or Rea's paths, lol). I know some will be surprised I didn't pick these as number one... but I'm not trying to be objective here. As much as I love this game... 6) Evolimit - Shizuku and Shiranui vs Tempest/Company Man - This fight is the climax of the story, and in terms of the scale of what is going on, it can be said that it is bigger than the last battles of Dies Irae... lol 7) Bullet Butlers - Rick vs Alfred. In terms of gun and blade fights (both) there just aren't any that get close to this one, though the father-son battle in Bloody Rondo makes a good try at it. 8 ) Kikan Bakumatsu Ibun Last Cavalier - The Serizawa Assassination - While it is over quickly, this is an awesome and emotional bloody scene, which serves as a huge turning point for the main story of this game. 9) Bradyon Veda - Naoto vs Claudia - This fight is great for its complexity... and the sheer desperation on Naoto's side. Like Dies Irae's fights, this one has the protagonist approaching from a position where he is horribly disadvantaged, so it is interesting that way too. 10) Ayakashibito - Kuki-sensei vs Souichi - Take any of the fights between these two, and you won't find one that is boring. However, I am specifically referring to the true 'youkai version' ending of Suzu's path's battle.

  20. I think I'll just do biweekly bump to this thread from now on. Anyway, this week the progress was at 23.2% translated. That's all for now.

  21. I see the whole thing pretty relaxed. When Konosora was released is was a brand new high quality VN amongst lots of old and average stuff. At that time it stood out and therefore it did really hurt that it was censored that way. But nowadays there are so many new and good releases from all kinds of publishers that it got almost impossible to keep up with all the new stuff anyway. So I'm almost grateful to get a reason to skip this one - there are lots of replacements to fill the gap. Moenovel doesn't care even the slightest bit about the English fan base, they only care about their sales. They therefore never had to reconsider their policy since Konosora sold great. So if anyone really wants Moenovel to get a change of mind, the best thing is to just not buy the title in this state. If sales are poor they might reconsider, but if sales are still good, why should they change anything?

  22. You really can't get any better than Shirous vs Bey. The dialogues, the action, the absurd difference in level of power and yet somehow everything clicks. Great stuff.

  23. When it comes to CG usage and all that, Mahoyo tops pretty much... anything. Others I really liked were all of Kuuki's fights in Ayakashibito and the final battle. Actually, most battles in that game were great. Shirou vs Bey is always awesome to read, mainly the final ones in Kasumi's and Marie's routes.

  24. Okay, so they changed their policy from 12 year old girls to horny 14 year olds. The issue still remains that they are censoring all their games. You speak as if removing all 18+ content from eroge isn't censorship. If they made proper all-ages ports, that would be something, but they just straight up cut out all 18+ material. That's taking 3 steps back from all the good stuff that has happened to the western VN market the past few years, which is why this company angers me greatly. They represent what's wrong with VN localization.

  25. The circle does that because that is the literal reason why Moenovel censored If my heart had wings in the first place. They wanted to market eroge to kids, for some absurd reason, and stuck with that policy. There is nothing special about that one CG with some soap over a nipple in LoveKami; even If my heart had wings had certain "slightly lewd" CGs still intact, just censored. There is tons of other CGs they just straight up removed from Love Kami, without replacing them with anything. These aren't all-ages ports, they are just the normal version with content literally cut out. You might be fine with having your games censored, but many people people aren't. I personally won't support a company that keeps doing this. Lucky for me I can read the original, but that's not the case for many western fans, so when a game gets censored without any way to restore the original content, it's stuck in that incomplete version forever or until some saint like Pabloc shows up to fix Moenovel's mess. (And people who are willing to do that are rare.)

  27. Even though Urrim was supposed to be in Japan, turn out that it didn't slow the translation progress because Trip still do his best for translating Maki's route. Anyway, here's the update for this week below: Common Route Part 1: 100.0% Common Route Part 2: 100.0% Ai: 100.0% Renna: 0.0% Maki: 61.94% Saeko: 0.0% Total: 65.00% Keep in mind that while the progress looks good, some of those still unedited so there would be some regression in the future as Trip warned us here - usually the progress here was already edited, while for this time it's still unedited and by the time Urrim had the update the edited lines number would be less than the lines that was translated by Trip. That's all for this week, and sorry for belated update here.

  28. Another update, and sorry for being late here. Here's the update below: Common Route Part 1: 100.0% Common Route Part 2: 100.0% Ai: 100.0% Renna: 0.0% Maki: 48.56% Saeko: 0.0% Total: 61.67% Starting from next week Urrim gonna be in Japan for three weeks, and he warned us that the update going to be more slow than usual. That's all for week update.

  29. Another week, another update here. So here goes: Common Route Part 1: 100.0% Common Route Part 2: 100.0% Ai: 100.0% Renna: 0.0% Maki: 39.89% Saeko: 0.0% Total: 59.51% Eight days left before Urrim go to Japan, and he hope that by that time he could translated half of Maki's route there. Let's see whether he could do that or not later, although I hope that he could. That's all for this week.

  30. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUlDO2Y4A8Y&feature=youtu.be A gruesome murder interrupts an evening party at a secluded mansion and you are the prime suspect! Explore the mansion, search for clues, and interrogate the other guests as you strive to unmask the killer in this open-ended mystery. MMM is a visual novel adventure with an open-ended mystery that puts your deductive skills to the test. A murder occurs in a secluded manor, and if you can't find the killer in time, you just might take the blame for the crime yourself! Gather information and search the house for clues as you form your own conclusions about the evening's mysterious events. FEATURES Multiple Endings: Finding the true killer is ideal, of course, but maybe building a plausible case against one of the other characters is good enough to get you off the hook! Unique and Compelling Characters: Play as Miss Fortune, a delightfully caustic anti-heroine who has already been widowed nine times. But this time, she didn't do it (really!), and she'll have to solve the mystery herself to prove it! Immersive Story: Sharply written dialog full of choices ensures a thoroughly immersive narrative. Voice-acting: Each character is fully voiced, with over 1700 voiced lines throughout the game! Beautiful Visuals: Detailed, searchable backgrounds and slick visual effects like rain, fog and variable lighting enhance the aesthetic experience. Time runs Short: The incompetent police are on their way. Better solve the mystery before they arrive, lest they come to their own (wrong) conclusions. --- MMM is available for Windows, Mac & Linux in English, Spanish and Italian. Check it out on Steam | Itch.io We have a demo! Demo on Steam | Demo on Itch.io | Demo on IndieDB The game features full voice-acting throughout, and has some exploration elements as you gather evidence. At the end of the game, everyone gathers in the parlour, and you can accuse anyone of the crime. The tough part is making that accusation stick. It's taken almost 2 years to develop this game, and I think it's turned out pretty well. The script was written by my brother, and the art was done by a friend. The game was made in Unity, as we wanted to include some extra gameplay that wasn't possible in other visual novel engines. I actually wrote my own framework for it.

  31. Thanks for your feedback, fun2novel. I actually wrote my own Asset and my own code for the lip syncing. We decided we didn't want a bland protagonist like you see in many other VN's, and gave Miss Fortune a strong personality. Humour is very subjective, so it's hard to write a character that everyone will find funny. A skip button is a very good idea, and I'll look into screen dragging. In a few of the scenes where MF is thinking, there are other characters around, so we decided her lips should move as another way of highlighting who it is that's speaking (or thinking aloud). The backgrounds are indeed dark, but perhaps your monitor's brightness settings might be a bit too low? Not sure. Haven't had any other people mention this problem. Again, thanks for your very detailed feedback!
