    Maki Fes! [Cumplete patch released]

Today is the birthday of @HMN... but less importantly, it is also the birthday of Love Live's Nishikino Maki. It is thus with great pleasure I announce that we, Bueeh?! Translations, Though, have successfully completed a translation patch for Maki Fes!, where you can fuck her in at least 8 different ways! Maki is fully voiced; the unnamed male main character is not, so you can totally pretend he's Dovac if that's what you get off to (look, don't judge me). I believe like two of the scenes are animated too, but one is a blowjob scene and blowjobs are boring, so idk seems kinda pointless if you ask me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Jokes aside I spent surprising amounts of time translating 1/10 of this thing, and some other people spent even more doing, well, significantly more work. I don't understand, I just stand in awe at their dedication and prowess. You can find the patch, as well as patching instructions (you have to scroll b/c asonn is a terrible web designer), at our website. We hope you enjoy your time with Maki... Credits: Translators: Asonn, Arcadeotic, Hanako, HMN, Jptje, Nandemonai, TBAC & Zakamutt. TLC & whiplord: TBAC. Editor: Ryechu. QC & Beta testers: Forgetful Frank. Hacker: Porygon2. Image editor & GUI translator: kiririri. Doing absolutely nothing: @Kawasumi PS: if you only read one scene, let me recommend choosing "I wanna fuck". It's my scene, and I made some interesting translation choices

    Trends in Visual Novels

Hi o/ I did a little analysis on changing trends in Visual Novels using the voting data on vndb if anyone is interested. I put up the first part of the series here: https://bunnyadvocate.tumblr.com/post/159429107647/visual-novels-the-rise-of-a-medium This is part of a whole series of posts, with my next post looking at protags, and what kinds of traits different types of protags are associating with according to an analysis of the tag distribution on vndb. If you guys have any questions or comments about it, then I'd love to chat about it.

Man, I am already cringing . Some of you recently gave me permission to post about my projects more often, so I am going to do it. I will do everything I can to write quality content rather than just going me me me. As advised, I have posted a blog entry on how to handle perspective shifts in VNs, using The Last Birdling as an example: I want to use this chance to ask if anyone got examples of VNs that handle perspective shifts in unique ways (visual or word wise)? Many VNs are written in first person, which can make readers stumble during viewpoint changes. I know in An Octave Higher, the game shows the new POV character standing alone on a black background first. Mind sending me some more examples? I want to use this opportunity to say The Last Birdling has been approved for publication on Steam as of a few hours ago. Really thankful for the votes guys. Thank you so much !

What Anime are you watching now?

Here's the two other shows I forgot that I was in the process of watching. I also intend to watch Seinen at some point. Interviews with Monster Girls - 8/10 Masamune-kun's Revenge - EP 4 - 8/10 - ON HOLD I can just tell I wouldn't give enough credit to the translators. I probably would notice lines like this one, but I had no idea all the biblical/divine references were not in the original. The only times I can notice a good translation effort are in manga and Visual Novels, where I've actually got enough time to process what I read properly. In anime I certainly notice them a lot less... Or I guess I only notice bad translations?

    What are you playing?

So I have finished the 2048 arc in Himawari and started Aqua's route. Well, that arc turned out to be pretty good, especially compared to the common route. On the other hand, there were a few parts which almost broke it for me. Now, on to sci-fi elements. To be honest, I didn't like them. In general, when I read a sci-fi novel or a VN, I don't like having thoughts like "This could never happen in real life", that's why I often prefer fantasy, which by definition has nothing to do with the real life. In Himawari, sadly, this thought never left me. I wrote down below a few things I noticed, fell free to object me if you think I'm not right. I don't know, maybe some of those things are actually explained further in the VN, so don't take them too seriously. Anyway, I'm more or less enjoying this VN so far, though it's deffinitely not a 10/10 VN, and most likely not even a 9/10. I'd say, it goes for a good 7 at this point, but there are still several arcs that have (Tadam!) Youichi as a protagonist, so it's too early to say anything. PS. Why my reactions always look so negative even when I like the VN in question?

Sumaga has basically been in some form of editing since 2010, so considering the scale of time we're working with here I'm not sure you should read into it in that way and make assumptions. It's really anyone's guess as to whether Sumaga's editing is finished or not, and even if it is finished, what that means for its actual release.

    Fate Stay Night Crash

I fixed this, and I am ashamed that it is the easiest fix ever : just copy the *image.xp3 files from setup to the install, overwriting all of the existing files. It now works flawlessly.

With so many ?????? in the message, I would recommend switching to Japanese system locale if you haven't already and double-checking you did it right if you have. With that said, I'm not sure if that's the cause of the error as they usually don't look like that when it's a system locale problem. If worst comes to worst, try to ctrl-skip past the line that gives you the error.

What Anime are you watching now?

What he said ^ The first thing that caught my eye in Gabriel Dropout was the extremely liberal use, and periodic horrible abuse for comedic effect, of biblical terminology in the subtitles, which is of course completely absent in Japanese but extremely common in English. The subtitlers used it to great effect in characterization, with it working differently for each of the characters they had: there's an episode where Vigne, the goody-goody devil, sits down in front of her meal and says いただきす, or, as the TL had it, "Through the Dark Lord, amen." Then she does it again later in the episode, exactly the same, for good measure. That's just one example; it's kind of the tip of the iceberg, the first thing you see before you fall in and notice just how much is going on under the surface. The more Japanese you understand, the more you'll recognize just how much liberty they took with the script, and the more familiar you are with what I would characterize as typical American sitcom vernacular, the more familiar (and funny) the patter of the English dialogue will feel. It just sounds vastly more like how people would actually talk to each other than typical anime subtitles. Edit: Just watched the last episode, and one memorable line had a character use the phrase "open a can of divine retribution" (i.e., instead of "open a can of whoop ass", and further instead of probably something super bland if translated literally like "do something horrible to me", though admittedly I didn't actually hear the Japanese that time). That's some good shit right there.

If Clannad were an RPG or some kind of ""real"" game, it would most likely have the same religious cultists as OoT, FFVII, etc. Calling it the "Best of the Average" might be fitting nowadays since, let's be honest here: Most try to copy it. Clannad might be as well be a cornerstone that created the Age of Moege Madness that is today. Sure, it is even more overrated than those pieces of S* Diss Iraq, SupaHippie & Cringaia combined, but it defined the standard of tastelesness that the modern VN fan values.
