  4. **** WARNING WARNING it is impossible to talk about Silverio Trinity without talking about the events of Silverio Vendetta, so this post is going to be full of spoilers. Until and unless you have played Silverio Vendetta, do not under any circumstances read this post!!!!**** Silverio Trinity is based three years after the events in Vendetta's path in Silverio Vendetta, in the city of Prague. The technology to make Esperanto warriors has been leaked to other countries, and as a result, the 'old capital', as it has become known in the New Era, tends to resemble certain other city-states that had the misfortune to be occupied by multiple powers in the past. Ashley Horizon (seen above) is a new Esperanto soldier in service to the Military Empire of Adler, which was the setting for the first game. I'm going to be straight with you... if you thought Zephyr was seriously fucked by circumstances in the first game, Ashley is actually worse off, once you get to know what is going on. A large part of that is that the main antagonist and instigator is even worse than the two main antagonists of the original game. Like the original game, this one starts with bloodshed and memories of the bloody massacre ten years before. Of course, that is the scene portrayed in the videos previewing the original game, and it symbolizes the role that the Fuhrer Valzeride played in the eyes of the people. In both games, there is a definite sense - and this is actually a blunt truth - that the protagonist is forced to live out a role forced on him by people who want something that has nothing to do with him personally. Sadly, this doesn't prevent them from tearing his life and even his sense of self apart in a search for what they want, and you get a pretty solid idea of just what the main antagonist wants in the common route. There are three heroines in this game, the first of which I picked was Aya Kirigakure. Yes, Aya is a relative of that yandere yuri ninja from the first game. Pity the individual that gets one of that family in love with them... or happens to get in the way of that love. Like their relatives, the Amatsu, this family seems to have an endless capacity for obsessive affection... and Aya herself admits that it isn't uncommon for members of both families to be perfectly happy stealing the men and women they love from others and ruining any number of lives in the process. Aya herself is a 'yamato nadeshiko' (the ideal of the Japanese woman) combined with the battle skills of a first-rate soldier and assassin. She also has some of the best 'scary woman in love' expressions I've seen on a VN female's face in a year or two, lol. Her path has a focus on the Empire side of things, quite naturally, and as a result, it shows off the various insanities leftover from the Fuhrer's era. Unfortunately for Ash, he has experienced some of those first hand, lol. I rate this path highly, but it definitely feels a lot like Kei's path from Dies Irae. It isn't meant as a 'true' path, and the ending itself is... sad. This is unavoidable considering the circumstances, but I still cried. Unlike Zephyr from Vendetta, Ashley isn't a coward or a natural survivor, so it is perhaps inevitable that his endings will be somewhat more obviously tragic in nature. As is common with non-true paths in Light games, this path leaves certain elements of the story unresolved and leaves behind the seeds of disaster that are likely to bloom long after the story is over. It also doesn't hesitate to show you that that is the truth. That said, the final battles are classic Light in every way, with some seriously brutal combat scenes full of wonderful narration - both of the combat itself and the characters' thoughs and emotions. A few more general impressions that I thought I'd relay to you is that Ash, for better or worse, is no Zephyr. He lacks that particular insane attachment to his own life and that peculiar haunted terror of victory and its aftermath that defined Zephyr's character. So, don't expect a Zephyr clone as a protagonist. I will say that he isn't what he seems on the surface or even in his own thoughts, though.

  5. Tfw you're hoping for MG to return with OreTsuba and realize that your wish will never be granted. For those secret projects, I could see one being from the Kyonyuu Fantasy universe as well and one other one may be from Moonstone or another long-time partner. Dunno about the other ones so I'll keep my hype levels low so that I don't end up like last year.

  6. I'm about 30 minutes away from finishing the remaining extra scenes in Kindred Spirits, and I've been debating what to play next, when, thanks to its discussion thread coming back to life, it suddenly hit me: And so I shall, probably starting later tonight. Wish me luck and chocolate. Edit: I finished all of Kindred Spirits. If you're on the fence about the "extra" scenes, get off that fence and go play them. They're beautiful, too. They can be kind of a pain to unlock, but they're unquestionably worth it. Now, on to KoiChoco (tomorrow, after work and shit...).

  7. Got my first Root Letter ending. Took about 6 hours. Root Letter's an aight experience so far, you basically play as nameable 32ish years old protagonist Takayuki from Tokyo who comes to Matsue to look for his long lost penpal Aya Fumino whom he exchanged a total of 10 letters with during their high school years 15 years ago. Reason being he's a sentimental douchebag, jk he finds an extra undated letter of hers that he apparently didn't read for all these years and in it Aya confesses she 'killed someone' so she's cutting off contact. Yo dw, I just finally read this letter of yours 15 years later, but I like murder mysteries, sign me up!! The exploration aspect plays like the Kara no Shoujo & it's investigation segments- you have free roam to visit locations on the map and can examine/probe the background CGs for extra information. There's no automatic progression in the narrative- you have to actively choose all the time where to go and what to do next; it's a bit of a chore but thankfully the game's pretty linear and handholds you on where to go via Takayuki's self monologues. Everything is also pure business in this VN; there is very sparse to no idle banter or slice of lifey scenes outside of the occasional witty remark you can make; anything you do, everywhere you go, everyone you talk to is all in your pursuit of Aya. Why dis place soo big!?!! Me don't know where to go next :(( And so the hunt & stalking begins, Takayuki books a night or two (turns out his hunt will last an entire week by endgame) at the local Matsue Inn and then heads over to Aya's address. Cue the mystery time, the Fumino residence is vacant, has been vacant, and the neighbors say that Aya died 25 years ago. Wait, what? Weren't my letters from 15 years ago? Who the fk is the Aya I've been communicating with then?! This is some mistake, she MUST EXIST, RIGHT??? RIIIIGHT???!!!@!11 And so you spend the next 5 hours spending each Chapter of the game going on a wild goosechase to find out more about Aya by re-reading one of her letters and trying to locate her Snow White 7 Dwarves friends- Shorty, Fatty, Snappy, Four-Eyes, Monkey, Bestie, and Bitch (yesyoureadthatright): Oh! Oh! I know someone who wore magatama pendants, let's go find that person and interrogate them!!!@# Problem is, it becomes readily apparent that some dark, deep shit must have happened between this group of friends 15 years ago, because they all actively feign ignorance to the existence of Aya and adamantly deny their past high school aliases so it's up to you to explore the city and gather clues and information to eventually corner them and make them all fess up. The eventual boss dialogue encounters are reminiscent of Danganronpa's Class Trials; the characters will vehemently deny who they were while you slowly whittle down their defenses by presenting your evidence until you finally just hit them with a YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE, BETCH, NOW TELL ME ABOUT AYA!@#$. It's decently entertaining and pretty straightforward so you'll usually know what to say and what evidence to bring up: SNAPPITY SNAP SNAP, NOW SNAP UP AND TELL ME ABOUT AYAAAAA!@# Who is Aya? Is she alive? Does she even exist? What happened 15 years ago? The first ending concludes Takayuki and Aya's penpal relationship in the most abrupt and unsatisfying way ever, however the game hints that there are still many mysteries to be revealed:

    Xbox 360 disk ring

You are screwed. You can't save it sadly. If it is new and you got a cd protection you could perhaps get a new one at the store. Otherwise buy a new copy of the game. Been there done that. I thought it was the famous red ring of death.

  13. It's a shame they gave up on the project. But it's understandable. I can imagine the amount of work that it's necessary to put into this. Regardless, I'm counting on you 2KE1. Unfortunately, I have no way to assist you, as I have no knowlegde in translating texts from japanese or in editing visual novels's files. But I do respect you for taking charge of the completion, and I look forward to the results. This game really caught my interest.

    Battle of Wits

I want to recommend the obvious G-Senjou no Maou, but looks like you already play that. If so, then perhaps you could try Ace Attorney franchise then seeing that both of Dangan Ronpa and Umineko take some elements from Ace Attorney itself. Other than that, according to VNDB Majikoi also had some battle of wits. Hope it'll be help.

  19. I was under the impression all heroines were made to be as hateable as possible whilst their problems persisted. This is clearly some sort of "social experiment" written where people are taken to their utmost extremes and show their ugliest side. You can be sure they all pissed me off, but I didn't really blame them, and after their issues were done and over with they were normal enough folks. But yeah, I'm pretty sure they were written is such a way that it's normal to hate them, but thankfully all's well that ends well. Main reason I could like it through all that is that they mostly get through it.
