    Cyberpunk VN

Hello! First of all, this is my second post (but is like the first one) so I want to say: hey everyone. This web is like a VN paradise, I love it haha I've been working on a Cyberpunk VN for a month, mostly on the script but I have some art already and I wanted to show it to you. Hope you like it. I have a lot more but of couse I can't post it. So, thats the art but I want to talk a bit about the story and all of that, just because this is my first VN and I'm excited about it. As is said on the title the game will have a Cyberpunk/Sci-fi thematic with some soft philosophy on it and a lot of robots. All the protagonists are girls (with a bit of Yuri even if this is not an eroge~) Right now I'm thinking about using TyranoBuilder as engine, because I don't know anything about scripting, I'm not sure if is the best option though. I'm a bit worried about the music and the translation because: even if I have experience drawing and writing, this is my first time composing music so I will upload a couple of tracks in the future and you can tell me if they are any good. And since I'm spanish, I need to translate the script but my english is nowhere near perfect, so I may need help to correct the mistakes I will make translating the script. Thats all for now, I'll gladly answer any questions ;D Thanks everyone for reading me. Cheers.

  2. Oh look, another one I didn't expect this to take so long (almost a year), but I guess I'm just not as much of a shitposter as I thought I was I can't say that I have always agreed with the consensus of this community (if there ever was one) or that I haven't had my fair share of bitter (or indeed salty) aftertastes from some people's posts. And while I can't guarantee that my ever-changing interests won't steer me away from it anytime soon, I have experienced (and learned) some great things, and met some truly awesome people. I have, for example, learned that arguments are flexible and arbitrary things, and that I do not need to hate myself when someone uses them to prove something I emotionally disagree with. And that's not even talking about some of the things I've learned from vns. TL;DR I love you. Yes, you, procrastinating weeaboo, sitting behind your keyboard. You deserve to be happy. Also, something something ask me anything (ANYTHING, I DARE YOU) something something don't really want to do shoutouts something something don't like to exclude anyone Have a nightstand that I made. Sorry it's rotated.

  3. Fan translations are already in a bit of a legal grey zone, but paying someone to produce a fan-translation is illegal. Don't do that. Speaking as a fan translator, we tend to pick the projects we want to TL first, not the projects we know other people want. Being motivated is extremely important when it comes to fan TLs. Without motivation, even translating a handful of lines can feel like a chore. Because of this, most of us don't really take requests. Translating takes a long time- you will be "stuck" with one project for months, sometimes much longer if the project is big, and so if you are doing it just because one person asked for it, you probably won't feel that motivated. I get your reasoning, but you really won't be able to just ask someone to TL something for you. That's not really how it works. You are better of using your money to purchase the Japanese game, and playing it next to the English one with a machine translator or something of the sort, to at least see the original scenes in some way. It won't give you an incredible result, but it's better than nothing.

  4. Over two years. wow. a lot has changed in that time. torrents were still a thing and little hanako was peeking her pretty head out while grasping a heart on this page. i originally started here to thank someone for a completely forgettable vn he had posted on here and to post some vns myself. Maman Kyoushitsu ~Mirai no H na Obenkyou~ was my first. cant remember my second. mightve been the sort of expanded da capo vn with new routes and an easier way to know if youre picking the girl you want to hang out with. whoops, getting off topic here. god, does anyone remember when fuwa looked like this? or was even here when it looked like this? for some reason this is the image saved on my tabs in firefox. XD i dont know why but i love that it is. <3 Hanako. <3 you know, i dont know why i stayed after torrents were gone. i think i started to get in a discussion on the princess evangile thread and it just kept going. met some friends along the way, got to know people. it was fun. im glad i did though. i care deeply about this community despite my inactivity here. i dont really know what else to add so ill get started with the mentioning. @Funyarinpa the very first person to message me to ask about a vn. @Dergonu my absolute best friend here who i cherish dearly. @DarkZedge someone who i will always care deeply about, no matter what. <3 @TexasDice who i chatted nonstop on the princess evangile thread. i know we havent talked much lately but i still havent forgotten about you. @Eclipsed same with eclipsed. man those were some fun times. @CeruleanGamer who invited me into her secret cult. i mean... @VirginSmasher who accepted me into his secret cult. i mean... ... im really bad at this. @Deep Blue a pretty great guy. best of luck to you in uni deepy. @Forgetful Frank i miss you so much man. please come back soon. @Kawasumi my partner in crime in traps. TRAPS FOR LIFE! @Flutterz the lovable moe lover... who also likes traps. TRAPS FOR LIFE! @Kaguya a reasonable and kind hearted moderator. keep up the great work kaguya! @Asonn the lovable loli lover. you keep living that dream buddy. @AaronIsCrunchy who ive known recently and is a pretty great guy. @Ashbell the centaur addict. @Aizen-Sama for giving me a chance and starting a really great team. lotsa love man. no gay stuff... well, i mean, unless you... @Kiriririri youre something else kiririririririri. keep it up. @Hanako the great yuri lover. YES! THERE ARE OTHERS BESIDE DERGY! NO ONE IS SAFE! @Tay for helping fuwa be the way it is. thank you very much. and of course, last and certainly not least, my goshuin-sama who i can never say his name now. thank you for accepting me and my weirdness. i think thats everyone. if i missed someone, i apologize. welp, ask me anything, derp out, i dont care. just have fun. love ya. <3

  7. All fan translations are illegal. The Berne Convention specifically provides that copyright holders have control over translations. Fan translations exist at the sufferance of the copyright holders, who have the legal authority to go to court to demand that any project be stopped. However, most companies don't know, or don't care, about the patches. And even the ones that do care can't really do much about it, because VN developers are usually poor, and suing people in a foreign country is very expensive and time consuming and a pain in the ass. That's why you hear about translation projects shut down by C&D, but never any actual lawsuits being filed. Fan translations are an ethical grey area, not a legal one. Paying someone to produce a fan-translation is unethical in addition to being illegal (because someone is making money off someone else's work without paying for it or getting permission). It also is significantly more likely to get rightsholders pissed off enough at you to decide they want to try to make an example out of you. As a fantranslator myself, I can tell by how much the OP is offering that they have no idea how much translators charge, or how long it takes. It took me two and a half years to translate Nocturnal Illusion from scratch, and that's a game I'd already played in English multiple times. It isn't even a particularly long game, either. I spent hundreds of hours during that time on the game. $500 might be a lot of money to the OP, but in terms of how much work is involved, it's peanuts. You can motivate translators to work on something they're not particularly fond of. By paying the industry going rate. However, professional translators charge somewhere between ten cents and a dollar per word. (I've never done pro work - not nearly good enough - so I can't quote you real numbers.) Nocturnal Illusion's script is easily 500K characters in Japanese. That's about fifty thousand dollars; a hundred times the original offer. (Now, h-games probably pay somewhat less than the going rate. Still.)

I would just like to add a minor correction to my previous post - turning something serious into comedy can work. I wasn't trying to say that you have to go to extremity everytime. The problem is, when you don't have enough dosage of a single ingredient in a mixed concoction, the flavor isn't strong enough to make that ingredient appealing. More importantly, some stories work when seriousness is mixed with humor, some don't - DR, to me personally, falls under the latter. To list an example: Filthy Frank. He's a YouTuber who always likes to turn serious topics like suicide and cancer into humor. That works for me because it's so ridiculous, beyond normality and societal standards, that it's funny. DR, on the other hand, spent a good amount of its time on serious drama instead of trying to ridicule said drama in a mocking fashion. Try and remember how it tried to tackle the identity crisis issue in the story. It wasn't done in a satirical kind of way. It felt more like something mainstream, something that came out of an anime. So when you say that the anime for the third game is mainstream, I don't see much difference here. And there's also that whole "despair" business it constantly tries to sell us. The way the MC addressed the "despair" is so cliche in a "never give up" shounen hero kind of way that rather than being a satire or parody, it feels more like it's playing those cliched tropes straight. The ending of the first game is another good example of this by using what's possibly the worst anime cliche of all time: .......I honestly wish I'm joking. #WhenTheCringeIsTooStrong I think the problem with DR comes down to the style being stylistic and nothing more. Without a witty way of mocking anime cliches, when you play those tropes straight in the form of cartoonish caricatures, the result gets old very fast, because the aesthetics of that style is only appealing to your eyes, not your brain. It only looks funny, but it isn't inherently funny. There's no smart remark behind DR's caricatures. Once your eyes get used to the surface humor, that's it. I'm done laughing.

Oh, okay. Since the topic is going in that direction: Rhythm games suck. Filthy plebians with their P4D. Style over substance is such a subjective form of enjoyment IMO, because unlike stories with substance, the attributing factor for the audience's enjoyment comes from the kind of taste you have, not your level of intellect. With didactic stories, you could at least comprehend the message behind them and appreciate what they had to say, but with style, everyone has their own individual choice of style. Funny enough, I'm a fan of hyperbole and over-exaggerated style. I'm a fan of Gintama and WataMote, after all. But I felt like the kind of hyperbole DR was trying to reach for is the equivalent of a kindergartener shouting the Power Rangers theme song - lame and juvenile. There's no humor behind that for me. That being said, mainstream narrative does turn me off more than cheesy humor. The very meaning of "mainstream" itself denotes cliche and generic, which the DR humor already is, so cliche added on top of cliche is just bad news. I can't stand cliches. I'd probably still watch the anime regardless because of Franchise OCD. The anime's one of the reasons why I bothered to buy the second game - take that as you will.

  11. "Unlike Euphoria, there really isn't a grand plot here, it's just a rape game. Albeit a high quality rape game, but still a rape game." You didnt just say it was a rape game you said there wasnt a grand plot either. Here is part of the conversation I had with Tyr SPOILERS I included my points of why I didn't enjoy it so much (also because you need some context to understand why the conversation headed that way) which is also something that some people might confuse with what the plot is really about thus not giving the novel a proper chance to begin with, at a first glance it does look like a rape game and nothing more. The important stuff is what he writes, I wont cut anything out because I think this is probably one of the most in-depth "reviews" out there, he grasped some concepts that I missed the first time or I wasnt very sure about them.

  13. rather unlikely, since the staff of theirs views it as nothing but an arkward nukige, btw partly trashtalked the title itself. edit: guess people who are reading natsu no kusari only for the porn are equivalent to those going for kawarazaki-ke2´s netorare. rip world, where have we gone wrong.... edit2: them picking up natsu no kusari would require having some balls since it´s a more realistic take on the matter, which i cant see happening as things stand for now - call me a pessimistic piece of crap, i know i know... but in a way it´s abit comparable to yabai!, a title i can´t see them doing either. potential social outcries are more easy to handle/avoid when sticking to fantasy, or settings that are strongly giving off a fictional vibe than their opposites, regrettably so. doesnt help that some readers seemingly can´t comprehend such matter, or refuse doing so by default.

  17. Well I finished Rettou Kan, and it was a pretty good nukige. The angel route was much better than the demon route in my opinion, though both were pretty... entertaining . If you are looking for a dark nukige, you should definitely pick this one up. Nice art, lots of unique scenes and the game doesn't really try to take itself too seriously at any point in the story, which I like in my nukige. (I mean, you know right away that you are playing a nukige when the main character is literally called "protagonist." So great ) Still not done with all my Cyclet games, next up is Kasshoku no Sei Senshi Aisha, HD edition. I recently learned from Tyrosyn that the CGs have been cropped quite a bit in this version, which sucks, so I'll probably run the normal version next to it like I did with G-senjou no Maou. I know it's not a big deal most of the time, but I still hate CG cropping. (And yes, I am definitely turning into a total Cyclet fanboy. They got me. I'm beyond saving. RIP.)

  20. True endings are normally a thing for plot-focused games, but they're very present in pure romance stories, too. Most of the time, a company won't go out of their way to say "this is the true ending." You just sorta know by which of them is the most complete, reveals the final mysteries of the setting, etc. True endings can be good. They can also be bad. And also bittersweet. That doesn't really affect anything. Sometimes you have true endings being less happy than good endings, sometimes not. It's a story and none of it actually happened, so I think it's pointless to think of the other routes as useless and whatnot. They're there for your entertainment. Same as the true one. It's only actually relevant if they're going to make a sequel. A lot of VNs obviously have a main heroine, where most of the polish went, as well as having the deepest, most relevant routes for the plot. Those are the ones that normally have true endings.

    True or False

True, he does not. h3h3 is obviously the true lord and savior of YouTube that deserves to be given a platform. It's why Gnomestar (AKA biggest backstabbing scum of the Earth) gave him the golden opportunity to defend himself on the "Baited" podcast tomorrow morning! Gosh, the irony is so lethal I swear I have oxidation poisoning. The one who tweeted that another YouTuber shouldn't have a platform to defend himself is invited to defend himself by the backstabbing cunt who'd previously acted like an asshole to everyone. Only on YouTube, ladies and gents. Next person has absolutely no clue what I just said.

  27. Teams are always looking for translators. Go post over here with your skills, qualifications, and what you're interested in, and you can probably find something you're interested in working on and a team to work with: That said... be serious before you do. Committing to TL a game is a huge endeavor that will take, at least, months of time. Translation projects get abandoned a lot. I'd encourage you to sign up only if you're really ready to commit to that, and suggest you make certain your team is equally serious about showing results.

    What are you playing?

Remnants of my moege days I guess, cuz I like her alot . Your description of her is so fierce though! I'm still fairly early on the route so maybe she does something bad later but so far I think she's more caring and 'justifiably abusive' - Hinata would definitely never have come out of his shell if she didn't pester him so much. Even worse would be if she flat out gave up because of his stubborness and left him - he's been like this for 2 years right? So that's why I think Hinata's been taking her companionship for granted rather than the other way around. Okay good, I'm not crazy then for praising I/O's use of SFX ~~ What's with people finding Danganronpa's gameplay frustrating, lmao. Git Gud plx But ya, DR's charm comes mainly from the experience it gives readers with its very stylized presentation and hyphey murder mystery based Class Trials- forget about having a deep, fleshed out narrative and characters that go above and beyond. It's also why DR3 anime flops gloriously, it completely throws out the style and the Class Trials and goes for a more mainstream narrative, so just keep that in mind those of you who are reading 1 & 2 now. Definitely watch it for the closure, but don't expect it to be as thrilling as the VNs

    What are you playing?

I found the ending unsatisfying. I get that it's part of a trilogy, but that ending contributed to my lack of enjoyment of the game. The main factor, however, was definitely the comedy that you got a kick out of. It didn't work for me, and I found it to be cheesy and stupid. Some of the morbid humor works, and I'm a fan of morbid humor myself, but most of it just came off as lame. The characters are shallow, and not very interesting. My 'best gurl' was the swimsuit girl whom I don't even bother to remember her name; I only like her because I'm into tomboys, and let's face it, she's hot. So, combined with a frustrating gameplay, shallow characters, a mediocre story, sub-par comedy, and an unsatisfactory cliffhanger ending, it's not difficult to see why I put off buying the second game for such a long time. In fact, even now, I'd still rather buy something like Virtue's Last Reward over Danganronpa 2 - and I haven't even played 999 yet.

  37. If you want to play it, I'd seriously recommend downloading a pirated version than buying it as supporting NextNinja can only mean bad news. xD If not for them, the game would've probably been localized by a proper company, maybe even translated by me, so you probably don't want them to collect enough funds to get another good license.

  38. No, they aren't Most fandiscs are created to further milk the fanbase by adding more fanservice and cram them with utter, meaningless crap that usually has little to no meaning for the original story itself; i.e. stuff most people won't care about, but still exists to please the hardcore fans, hence the naming. There are, of course, exceptions. Some of these actually either expand on original plot, act as true endings or "after" stories, adding new content. They are very rare, though. If story is coherent, most developers aim to include some sort of an explanation to events within the original game, instead of creating fandiscs. The whole meaning of the word "fandisc" got warped nowadays anyway; back in the old times, fandisc meant more of a treat for fans, packed with various goodies from the creators - unique wallpapers, system applications, minigames, short stories (novels), arranged soundtracks and sound dramas, along with discount coupons for their future games etc. It was only later, when fandiscs began to become more self-contained additional stories, expanding on the game's universe (but not necesarilly the game's storyline). There's a reason why fan translators ignore majority of fandiscs; they aren't worth translating. Art by Oyarii Ashito and pleasant atmosphere. It's okay in overall, but still remains the weakest of LittleWitch vn's. If you want the really good stuff, you have Quartett!, Romanesque and Rondo Leaflet (which is prolly their best game). I've seen people speaking well of Sugar Coat Freaks, but can't say anything myself, since I haven't played it; it doesn't really seem that appealing from my perspective, although it prolly has the most up-to-date Oyarii's art, which is preety much the artstyle he's using nowadays; I myself prefer his older works, which were incomparably ahead of his current artstyle.

  39. Nothing. It's not 'good'. Average at best, depends on your ability to survive painfull cliches and tropes. At least there is no 'energetic, modern tsundere imouto'. I read most of the routes, only school couuncil president, pink annoying brat and winged cute little thing named Kohane left. I really liked Aoi, her tomboyishness and her route, which was about not often seen 'problem' in VNs. It was resolved very poorly, but at least it was not overall bad. Rest of them are mix of 'nothing/slice of life/nothing/very mild humour/very mild drama/nothing'. With additional 'da fuck I just read' in at least one route: I'm struggling with this VN for few months now. Hour there, two hours there, two weeks break etc. I tought it would be a light, simple little thing with likeable cast and 'warm' stories. But too many things are annoying to consider this VN overall enjoyable. Would not recommend.
    1 point
  40. That's what annoys me, it's the fact that both fan-translations and official releases ignores fandiscs, especially since in most cases fandisc are an extension of the main game and provide conlusions to the main game that the main game as a stand-alone will not provide. At this point we should take it as miraculous providence that JAST USA released My Girlfriend is the President's Fandisc and that MangaGamer is working to release Princess Evangile's Fandisc.

  44. No, not really. It's thoroughly average. Also, it introduces a couple of mystery elements that ARE NOT RESOLVED AT ALL. There's a fandisc, so maybe the answers are there. But if you want to know you won't find any answers in the VN. There are some other infuriating plot points that I disliked... I'd say the main route (Asahi) is worth it, but the rest not so much for various reasons.
