  1. It’s here. I’ve always felt that the WordPress site felt a little lacking, so now Euphemic Translation has moved to a new domain with a brand-spanking new, shiny design. I spent many hours getting everything nicely together without anything suddenly exploding, and I’d say I’ve done a good enough job with it. More or less everything’s been imported and greatly updated, including the theme. Tell me what you think of it. As you probably could already guess, the old site is going to be abandoned, to put it bluntly. If this site goes under, I’ll of course revert back to the old site, but I don’t see that happening. Anyways, onwards to the actual update. We almost got 50% on editing with 48 percent, and whole 10% more on QC. Things are going smoothly, and they don’t seem to be slowing down, but nothing special has happened this week aside from the new website. Progress: See ya next week, on this new address. http://euphemictl.vntls.com/2016/08/26/update-32-new-domain-new-website/

  2. God dammit. I knew the day would come. I'd get to three thousand posts and I'd have bugger all to say. That means I need to come up with something. That does, unfortunately, also mean that effort on my part will be required; effort which I'm simply not willing to contribute. So here's the deal. You come up with something for me to do. Perhaps you'd be interested on my thoughts on a particular topic? Perhaps you'd like me to read something for you?* Perhaps you'd like me to send money your way? Yeah sure, I'd like a lot of things too. You can ask; nothing wrong with that. I'll just laugh at your request if I deem it stupid; or unnecessary, or useless, or strange, or something of the sort. Additionally, free of charge, you can ask for a "love-filled" PM which I'll absolutely send your way. It'll thenceforward be used to harass you whenever the mood strikes. *If you want a free sample of what to expect, the video******* below has me reading this very post. http://picosong.com/zLYL/ *******Not a video.

    Day of Anger Review

Visual Novel Translation Status (08/27/2016) Sorry for very late review here, and my reason here that I also had some real life issue like admin Tay here. Anyway for the title, since Dies Irae mean 'Day of Wrath' and for now that we just got unclear confirmation, so I decided to use lesser form for wrath here (Anger) as the title. About the announcement, well if Dies Irae will be translated and released, this is definitely big news here but for now we still lack of info here (If Dies Irae got released, I'll using 'Day of Wrath' as VNTS Review title here). For now I would said let's just wait and see here, although since Decay said about the confirmation about being translated, might as well check the confirmation later (I admit that I'd still not see the confirmation yet). Oh, and about censoring H for Steam release, no problem for me if they bring Updated Expansion here. For this week, nothing special here although Sekai still give their usual update. As usual here Mangagamer will give the update between 2 weeks each ie biweekly so we must wait for next week to see their update. Speaking about Mangagamer here, this week they released 2 more of their nukige (Orc Castle and Detective Masochist). Didn't know much about Orc Castle here, but I think we'll had M detective here if we looking from the title. For my opinion about nukige release here, if those 2 releases will help Mangagamer sales to announce and license more good VN like back in Otakon, why not? Feel free to disagree though. Sekai once again give their usual update with one more update here. For usual one Chrono Clock was 31.44% translated, Maitetsu was 24.71% translated, Tenshin Rahman was finally past 40% translating progress (40.69%) and Hoshimemo was 29% retranslated here. Not much comment for usual update here, but for Hoshimemo I think it was quite redundant here because while I see some people had the problem with quality of the current translation, majority people out there didn't had too much problem with it (Including me to be honest). Although I said it was redundant here, I would still like to said good luck here to Akerou for retranslating Hoshimemo. This week there's also not much progress for fan translation itself, although of course usual progress was always welcome here (Bishoujo Mangekyou was at 48% edited and 36% QC-ing; and for Majokoi we had 36.2% translated, 20.9% edited, and 11.7% TLC here). Speaking about progress, this time Tsui Yuri give unusual progress here, which was at 33% retranslated right now (Guess I'll see what it means next week). Speaking about the leader of Tsui Yuri translation project (Dergonu), this time he started some guro VN with name Shi ni Iku Kimi, Yakata ni Mebuko Zuou. My taste aside here (Not my taste once again), good luck with the project and as for the progress we had 1 of 69 scripts translated here. This week we also had the progress from Nocturnal Illusion Renewal namely the editing by Ryechu was started. Oh, for this week we also had another project established to translating Loverable, which from first look it was some kind of moege. Good luck to the team here. And for last progress, might as well write it again that for Clover Days we had twins route at halfway (50%) translated. Actually this week we had release for fan translation segment, too bad it's not the one that I should looking forward. If some of you wonder there, the release was Mahoyo translation patch up to chapter 6. About Mahoyo, while I knew that there was some praise about it, it was still incomplete even if it's fully translated (12 or 13 chapters, and it'll probably take very long time to be completed) because Nasu was planning for more 2 of the sequels here, and looking from of how Fate franchise gathering the money so much for Nasu and Type Moon, safe to said that it'll take long time because obviously Type Moon will pay more attention to Fate franchise here. For Hanasaki, I'd already said about this but once again looks like the Saga Planet VN will be cursed just like August and Yuzusoft in the past (The project never completed). As for Decay comment about Hanasaki, it'll be quite interesting for sure if it's come true but then again if for example I was JAST CEO, I also could said that Shadow of Pygmalion (Licensed by Mangagamer) was my personal favorite VN here. What I want to imply here that if Baba said that Hatsuyuki Sakura was his favorite VN here didn't mean that his company translated Saga Planet VN here. Well, let's just see if VisualArts will localized Saga Planet VN by themselves or keep it 'cursed' later. I think that's all for my VNTS Review right now, and sorry for being very late here. See you next week.

  4. Warning: This rant contains spoilers concerning Tomoyo’s route in CLANNAD and of the entirety of Tomoyo After: ~It’s A Wonderful Life~ I finished Tomoyo After yesterday. It's one of the most powerful and emotional experiences that I've ever had. I literally spent a few hours crying my eyes out, and then felt like bawling for the next 24 hours. This rant is just something that I need to get out of my system. If you've played Tomoyo After, please feel free to read and chip in. If not, don't spoil the story for yourself. I don’t know where to start. The ending of Tomoyo’s route in CLANNAD was beautiful. The whole segment where Tomoya broke up with Tomoyo (for her own good) had me tearing up. It was depressing. I would have never left her. And when they finally reunited, it was perfect. They had loved each other the whole time. But still, the idea that they had spent those 8 (?) months separated. She had saved the sakura trees, yet lost all that time that she and Tomoya could have been together. At their reunification, they promised to never leave one another even again. They swore their eternal love. And this idea of eternal love stuck with me all the way through Tomoyo After as well. Now, I had a lot of fun with the first two thirds of Tomoyo After. The prologue dragged a bit but it was cute. I think I would have actually enjoyed the h-scenes. I watched them afterward and I didn’t think they detracted too much from the story. They were fun. Then, the first part of the story: Tomoya and Tomoyo getting situated as a couple. Tomoya focusing on improving in his work. They suddenly were stuck with taking care of Tomo, a little girl who they quickly came to love and more or less ‘adopt’. Tomoya had to strengthen himself as an individual, fighting would-be agitators that still had beef with Tomoyo given her past. Tomoya wanted to be just as strong as Tomoyo, able to protect her and stand his own in the relationship. He wanted to be worthy of her love. I resonated with that, self-improvement is always a big positive. The second part focuses on Takafumi and Kanako. Tomoya, using his improved will and strength, helps Takafumi face his past. The accident and his coach’s death, who also happens to be Kanako’s father. I had fun here as well. Some sad moments, but also good interaction between all of the characters. It turns into one big happy family when Takafumi and Kanako resume their relationship. Now, the third and final part. The part where I disagree with the writer’s choice of direction and in consequence, Tomoya’s decisions. For some reason, Tomoya thinks it’s of utmost priority to find Tomo’s mother. The time that they spend tracking her down was entertaining, but once they reach the sleepy village where Tomo’s mother resides, the story takes a turn for the worse. It was interesting, but totally forced and unnecessary. The story becomes about helping others. Tomoya decides to randomly build a school to create hope for the village, so Tomo can be educated and live with her mother, who is already dying. In hindsight, after these events are concluded, Tomo lives in the village for less than a month before her mother is on the verge of death. As well, this is also where Tomoya receives the head injury that gives him the blood clot that eventually leads to his death. Aka the tragic bullshit ending. On top of that, the writer seems to set the absurd pretense that Tomoya and Tomoyo were somehow unfit to simply adopt Tomo (she was already becoming a part of the family). Tomoyo’s stubborn behavior is on display during this part of the story. She desperately tries to convince Tomoya that Tomo can live happily with them. There’s no reason for her to live in the village with her dying mother who is unfit to raise her. And the sad part is that, I, the player, totally agreed. Yet the writer forced this path, which would eventually lead to Tomoya’s death. At the same time, one of the ‘bad endings’ is where Tomoya sleeps with Tomoya and eventually agrees to stop building the school. He feels sorry about the whole situation, but goes back home and gets used to ‘a humble, lovely life’ with Tomoyo and Tomo, who quickly become a happy family. It can be presumed that Tomoya went on to improve at work and Tomoyo became a housewife. They probably had kids and lived happily ever after. And somehow this is considered a ‘bad end’ because he didn’t stick to building the school, so Tomo could spend another month with her dying mother. I wish I could convince myself that this was the true end, but the writer’s intended true end is so tragic that I can’t wipe it from my damn memory. Back to the original route. Tomoya finishes the school and Tomoyo copes with the situation, saying goodbye to Tomo. They head back home and spend a few weeks together. Then Tomoya passes out due to the blood clot on the way to visit Tomo and her mother who is about to die. Soon after, waking up in a hospital, we find out that Tomoya has amnesia and doesn’t remember Tomoyo at all. He spends a week with Tomoyo, who tells him of all the time that they have spent together and how they once met. Despite his memory loss, he feels a strong connection with Tomoyo and tells her that he loves her. Tomoyo tragically reveals that Tomoya has had the amnesia for 3 years now, passing out at the end of every week and losing his memories, once again repeating the cycle. Tomoyo has spent all this time with him, but reveals this info because Tomoya confirmed his love for her and thus cemented their ‘eternal love’ for each other which knows no bounds. With this said, Tomoya tells Tomoyo that he’ll undergo the life-threatening surgery because he never wants to forget her again. The surgery has less than a 50% chance of succeeding, but it might stop his memory loss. They decide to get married and spend the night together. The next week, he wakes up and immediately remembers their love for one another, given the matching wedding rings that they wear. They spend the rest of the week together before his surgery. In Memorial Edition, the ending is more open ended. In the original (18+) version, it’s assumed that he regained his memory but the surgery was a failure in terms of saving his life. He spent a few weeks of rehabilitation with Tomoyo before passing away as they watched the sunset. In the Memorial Edition, it’s very similar, however there’s a chance that he survived the surgery and made a full recovery. Overall, however, I think it’s strongly implied that Tomoya dies. Tomoyo then spends the rest of her life devoted to helping others. She writes under a special pen name that goes back to the time she spent with Tomoya, Tomo, Takafumi and Kanako. Once she passes away, she is reunited with Tomoya in heaven. Their eternal love never ceased to exist. I guess you could take the stance that Tomoya survived and he lived happily ever after with Tomoyo. I think I’m too much of a cynic to truly make myself believe that, no matter how much I want to. There are just too many suggestions that Tomoya passed away. I think the ambiguous, ‘happy ending’ of Memorial Edition was just to appease fans. It was nice to get that out of my system. So, I guess my gripes are… 1. Disagreed with writer concerning path direction (for some reason had to build school instead of adopting Tomo), which lead to Tomoya’s death 2. The one ‘bad ending’ is way better (imo) than the ‘true ending’, in which Tomoya decides that adopting Tomo is no worse than her living with her blood mother and proceeds to live a humble life with Tomoyo It’s too fucking tragic thinking about the 3 years that Tomoyo spent with Tomoya, who had no memory of her. Then, the years after, that you can assume she spent alone till she died and was reunited with Tomoya. Maybe I’m selfish? The school made no sense to me. Even then, it led to Tomoya’s death. It’s obvious that Tomoya would have done a lot more good if he had adopted Tomo and spent the rest of his life with Tomoyo, living a humble existence instead of rashly building the school like it would somehow fix the village of misfits and bring Tomo happiness. Ok. I didn’t agree with the story direction. But the writing was powerful and despite how tragic the ending was, I can appreciate it from a thematic approach. The themes of eternal love, becoming stronger, moving on, etc. I guess that’s Key for you. I fell in love with Tomoyo’s character. Her strength, resoluteness, motherly charm, innocence. I’m even attracted to her flaws, her iconic stubbornness and her lack of humor which just makes some of the dialogue that much funnier. It’s upsetting in the sense that these 2d girls are too perfect. They set my expectations way too high and I’m bummed that I might never find a woman like Tomoyo. I guess that’s life, but this VN really threw it in my face. Damn. These feels. sorry about if this was jumbled Alright Fin

Hey, I'm the new one ;)

Hey there, I'm fairly new to the world of anime and visual novels but what I've seen so far has been genuinely impressive and enjoyable. I just finished watching "To Love-Ru" and played through my first VNs, namely "Ever17" and "D.C. II: Da Capo II". When it comes to games I am a completionist, meaning that I want to unlock every last scene and collect everything. That's why I've created a diagram depicting all scenes of the game (DC2) and how to get there. (http://i.imgur.com/HtEV4Pd.png) Part of why I've finally decided to join fuwanovel.net is that I've been searching for a place to share this kind of content. About myself I'm a computer science student from Germany with a passion for taking apart every piece of software I can get my hands on. I think I would enjoy working on a translation project, however due to my limited experience I'm not sure whether I'd be of great help to anyone ^^ -- AtomCrafty

  10. I don't understand why you're so confident of this, especially after the military coup in Turkey. The potential for a North Korean regime collapse is a source of great concern to the US. The current leader does not have as strong a grasp of the reins of control as his predecessor. Some may cheer the notion of North Korean regime collapse, but it would likely not be a cheerful matter in practice. I know less about Pakistan, but there's a tension between the secularists and Islamists and this could explode into conflict. How would the regime collapse? I imagine a scenario similar to Syria, where Islamic radical groups purportedly seized control of chemical weapons and used them.

  12. In the wargame linked in the OP, it was determined that 100,000 ground troops would be required--just to secure the nuclear weapons. Securing the weapons would take these troops nearly 2 months, and 200,000 additional troops would be required if stabilizing the country was also part of the mission.

  14. Those words didn't originate with him. Also, Adolf Hitler was a man for the working people. Germany was being crippled under the debt they were being forced to pay back to Europe, and Hitler was the one who banded together the people to lead them out of it. Unemployment plummeted under him, for example. He didn't want to bully people, but ultimately there was not much he could do to get his country out of that debt without HOORAY ANOTHER WAR. (I should point out that people pointed to Hitler's actions as to why Greece SHOULDN'T be made to pay back the debt they've recently incurred.) He was also a Marxist, a very very KEEN Marxist, who may have paid a little too much attention to the rants Marx and Engels used to go on about Jewish people. His was a "Nationalist" socialism after all. EDIT: Engels pretty much verged on saying the Jewish people should be left behind, so to speak. They weren't nice to the Jews. I don't. I think you grossly overestimate the military capabilities of most of Europe. Here's a hint, the UK is probably the mightiest country in Europe militarily speaking. 30 years ago they SHOULD have lost a war to Argentina. I believe I said that most of the time America wouldn't need to because most of the time countries aren't lead by extremists. Russia was never an extremist nation, and in fact I quite like Russia. Quite a lot, actually. I should point out that the human race HAS dealt with every crisis, true. And they used to do it by being a lot more invasion-happy, so ...

  18. Syria is only a mess because it was allowed to become so. It started out as a popular uprising against Assad, yes? He's an evil dictator, let's remove him. Then others butted in (just because America doesn't enter doesn't mean no one else will. Do you think people are not opportunistic?) Turkey wants Assad out because Turkey was a Sunni Government in Syria, similar to how they backed the Brotherhood in Egypt. So now you have them supporting the Rebels. Saudi Arabia wants similarly, so now you have them backing the rebels. America want Assad out probably because they like democracy and that's what the people wanted, but also because it'd tick off Russia, and partly because for other reasons, but that doesn't matter, if they had entered HERE they are so powerful nobody can stand against them. Bullying? Maybe. Decisive and clean outcome? Definitely. But they didn't. So Russia, who needs Assad because of certain Naval realities in that part of the world (it's not like he likes Assad personally) needs to sure up Assad's Government, and Iran enters with them. Great, now you have countries on either side. And oh no, now Turkey has shot down a Russian plane. For what? Entering their air space? If Turkey is so concerned about that then why had they illegally entered Greece's airspace hundreds of times over the past year? Oh, because Greece is soft and just complains orally. Fair enough. But now you have tensions rising, and Russia will retaliate by bombing all those Turkmen in the north of Syria (which was why Turkey shot down a Russian plane in the first place.) And America who doesn't want to enter Syria because there's no appetite at home for such an action is backing the Kurds, who want to carve out their own state. But the Kurds are viewed by Turkey as terrorists. So now you have Turkey at America's throat for backing the Kurds, and America at this stage is probably wondering why they even let Turkey be a part of Nato. But America ignores Turkey, which infuriates them, and the Kurds have almost united all of Northern Syria which infuriates them more. So what do Turkey do? LAND INVASION, to get the terrorist Kurds, who want to carve out their own region remember, to BACK OFF. And America want to stay Turkey's friend, so they're finger waving at the Kurds and saying 'maybe you should retreat a little' but otherwise not wanting to get involved. And oh look, here comes China! Understand? This is why America goes in early.

  19. Let's put it this way: If Syria had nuclear weapons, and the 'popular uprising' included a whole heap of tribal lords some of which have known terrorist affiliations ... oh, and ISIS (which want to create a nation, let's not forget.) In fact let's make this simpler, if ISIS succeeds in its goal of carving out a nation by taking over parts of Iraq and Syria, and these parts had nuclear weapons, then yes America needs to intervene. If rebels took over Syria, and these rebels had terrorist affiliations, and Syria had nukes, then America needs to intervene. If North Korea has nukes, they need to intervene. But normally America would not. Because normally countries aren't run by extremists of any sort. People tend to forget that everybody has to share a world, and that countries need to look after their own citizens first and foremost. America has traditionally done this by ensuring World War 3 doesn't eventuate. There are statistics which verify that the world is at it's most peaceful when America was at it's most powerful. In fact, the only international situation America DIDN'T intervene in has created more war time refugees than any action since World War 2. Let me be very clear here - the early intervention of America SAVES LIVES, because most of the time it prevents a lot of countries of similar powers squabbling. They SAVE LIVES by stopping uprisings, for example, from reaching their natural conclusion, which is a populace vs army scenario. If America had chosen a side and entered the Syrian conflict militarily, they would have saved A LOT OF LIVES. People are very soft hearted these days, they don't want America going invading. Sure, how did that work out for Syria and how is that affecting the rest of Europe? What's that? Millions of refugees and Europe is getting pissed off? Congratulations.

  24. Judging from your screen shots, you are not hooking the text. Every hooked line of yours has the same length which is not the length of the text shown ingame, so I guess it's just some kind of engine routine using automatically hooked Windows functions unrelated to the actual text output. By the way, the function clearly states it's used for UTF-16 characters, so your character encoding would have been wrong anyway. If I'm right, the only solution is to find a H-code for the game. And speaking of that: What tool are you using? Probably Cheat Engine, right? If you are using Cheat Engine and your game uses something different than SJIS (probably UTF-16 in this case), it won't show a result if you search for the Japanese character string. You have to convert your character string into hex first, then search for the byte array. You said you searched for hex. Did you convert the text into UTF16 hex code?

  28. I prefer it to 3 so far. As for Dark Souls 2, the game is difficult for the sake of being difficult. It wasn't made by the same team that made DKS1 & DKS3. Miyazaki himself even stated he never intended for the games to be difficult, they simply were because of "How they are." The problem is, with DS2's design team, fans were clamoring them for another difficult game, but they had no clue. The main Team was working on Bloodborne, so they had this series dropped in their lap and they read up on what people wanted - difficulty. So they went and made a game with an insane amount of artificial difficulty. There's a reason more people are still playing DKS1 than DKS2. I'm back at these motherfuckers on my replay of DS1. Bah.

I like Senri Akane best, but not her route. After reading rewrite, i think that each route has a different good point. Kotori: a gloomy atmosphere, i really like Yoshino in this route, a love triangle Chihaya: i must say that this route is the worst, just use to explain about kotarou's power Lucia: a horror route, I like Ryuukishi07's style of trying deny the mystery but fail, and try to deny it again and then find out the truth. Bit the viewpoint is not good, especially when Lucia is alone, why did she need to scare of the truth that she had already known, she didn't need to pretend, like with the paper things, she was the one who wrote it, but she talked like she was really surprised when she was alone in the room, why she had to pretend? Shizuru: i love this ending, sad but also happy. Akane: just the action and Akane is good. Moon: i think this route was written based on Ryuukishi07 concept and theory. The things about multiverse, life's theory,... brought a new wind to the game. Terra: love this route, about kotarou's past, the explanation and reasons behind five heroines' routes. But Kagari was too bossy, how could Kotarou loved her?

    D.C. Da Capo II

D.C. ~Da Capo II~ Licensed by MangaGamer Takes place approximately 50 years after the original D.C. ~Da Capo~ game. The story revolves around Sakurai Yoshiyuki and Otome & Yume, sibling granddaughters of the original D.C. ~Da Capo~ protagonists Jun'ichi and Nemu. ***Ending Guide*** There are Four main routes, Anzu, Nanaka, Koko and Minatsu. Otome and Yume have routes as well however, they are locked until you finish 1) Anzu or Minatsu's route!! 2) Nanaka or Koko's route!! You must do one of each to successfully unlock Otome and Yume's routes. Then, after all of these are completed, Sakura's route will be unlocked. Trust me when I say, it is worth the effort. Below is a step-by-step walkthrough to help you along. ***Route Walkthrough*** Anzu Nanaka Koko Minatsu ***Bonus Routes*** Otome and Yume's Routes can only be unlock as described above. If you have not completed the prerequisites, you will not be able to continue. Just restart game and you will see D.C. in the Main Menu. Click that and continue on. Otome Yume You must finish all above routes to unlock Sakura's route. Sakura ~~
