So I went a little bit crazy and participated in MG's winter sale. Bought a few discounted VNs and got free Steam keys I'm not planning to use. So I'm sorta giving 'em away, but I don't like complete randomness (or charity, for that matter), so I thought about having, like, a contest or some shit. However, the only good idea I came up with is having people fight each other to death in some sort of arena, but the logistics, legal counsel and funeral arrangements would likely turn out to be a major pain, so I scrapped the plan. Shame, it would've been fun. So... um... I dunno, just post something cute and/or funny and/or something that would melt my icy heart. And please mention which key(s) you want. Don't try too hard or anything, I'm gonna give them away in the end anyway. Just take it easy, dudes. The keys are ALL GONE eden* Princess Evangile A Kiss For The Petals: Remembering How We Met (which is so dirt cheap anyway, you might as well buy it) Cho Dengeki Stryker (I can't guarantee this key will work... pretty sure it will though, but keep that in mind)6 points

I just started Kohime Musou, and surprisingly, i like it alot( so far), the talk of war and tactics and the duels between the generals are pretty good stuff,it was historically accurate for a bit, then it took a sharp turn and I have no clue what is going to happen next. The battle scenes can be a real pain if you don't know what your doing, but if you have a grip on it, you can shorten the time by half or more, it is kind of repetitive, but I guess you get used to it after a while. That sucks, probably won't read it then. Is the true route decent without too many H-scenes? Or are any routes like that? I like a good story and don't like the rest. Majikoi S is pretty good, but compared to the original, there is way too much H, and there is no true route, since the unofficial "true route" was in the original Majikoi. The game still has a lot of content within it and can entertain you for a period of time( I skipped all H scenes and still spent like 30 hours on the game). There is 2 interesting routes filled with goodies, but in general, there is not as much action or events as the original Majikoi, since the original has an event( kawakami battle or war,if I recall correctly) every main heroine route, while S has less. You should give it a try if you haven't yet.1 point -

Finished Last Resort a while ago. It was alright, art was the nicest thing about it. Wataru still best gril. Also started Koichoco more recently. Not really that big on any of the characters so far, but I'm gonna keep reading anyway. I was outright skipping the H-scenes by the end. I usually just skim through them quickly, but even that wasn't enough. The actual skip function was needed.1 point -

I kinda see a pattern in your recommendations, lol. Sadly, none of the games you mentioned so far are hookable because Chunsoft liked to use custom character encoding in their sound novels. First one without which works with text hookers was probably 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ which I read on PPSSPP. Well, whatever. Speaking of Machi, the first time I heard of this game was when I did research for the Godly Kamige in Hyperdimension Neptunia V. NISA really butchered EVERY reference in their localization. You would never know the game just spoke about Machi if you didn't have profound knowledge in Japanese video game history AND were good at guessing. But who cares about game references in a game about games when we get Western memes, right? Machi is by the way one of the best Godly Games in Nep V. Together with Final Fantasy and maybe Atelier. Haha.1 point

I think that the romance in SnK, while not being the main focus is really well done and cute, it feels natural you know? Also I know this is subjective but I just came to love all the characters. But as SnK is my second favorite VN of all time besides of saya no uta I will really encourage you to keep playing it, its a feels ride I can promise you that.1 point -
What makes Grisaia no Kajitsu so great?
CeruleanGamer reacted to VirginSmasher for a topic
I know Hidden Content , but damn, seriously...? Amane's bad ending was at least better since it was relevant to the plot. Also, Grisaia no Kajitsu is great because of KazamiYuuji. Non-virgin protagonist who gives absolutely zero bullshits and always looks like a bad ass. *fangirl screams* He can kiss you, tell you he likes you, and make you his girlfriend without feeling embarrassed or regretful about it. The way he talks, he always gives it to you hard and straight without batting an eye, so you can tell he's really genuine about it. Hidden Content Also, best moment in the anime, wish it didn't lead in the bad ending in the vn though. It was definitely a good ending material. Hidden Content Even on Rakuen, when he was still a child, he was already a damn stud: Hidden Content I would so cheat with him if he existed in real life. /NTR vibes rising If I were gay, I'd totally have sex with Yuuji. He's such a cool motherfucker, He's funny as hell, and a major player. Plus, he's the best character out of Grisaia which is known to have amazing characters.1 point -

I don't think it actually has voice acting. Otherwise all I did was try and fail to read a bit of its free android demo and fail because Fapanese without text hookers is kinda hard, so idk. It's probably decent, someone actually started a fan tl project for it a long while ago (which is now ded).1 point

What makes Grisaia no Kajitsu so great?
VirginSmasher reacted to Dergonu for a topic
Which ones have you completed? Edit: Never mind, you mentioned on previous page. I'm sad you couldn't get into Amane's route. I'm almost done, I finished Sakaki's route last night in between other things, so I'm just down to Sachin's. If I had to describe Amane's route, I'd say it was a well-written absurdity. In fact, I'd say the dialogue between Amane and Kazuki might be the best exchange between two characters in the entire visual novel. But in choosing a circumstance that could actually have the best chance of happening but having it in such a modern time period, it just makes it hard for me to buy into it. Probably because it brings an element that was completely under control of the outside world and it was played out in a way that just doesn't make sense for a modern age, high-tech, high-intelligence society like Japan. Sachi´s route is awesome, so look forward to it. Though ... her bad ending ... ... Cool to hear your opinion on Amane´s route. I personally loved it, but I get your point. Seems its one of the routes that have very split opinions on wether its good or not.1 point -

Deep Blue reacted to MiKandi Japan for a topic
Any chance you could flexibly allocate funds to translation depending on how much money the campaign brings in? Maybe have 1 pass if the goal is just met, and add more passes as stretch goals (or folded into other stretch goals)? That makes most sense to me, and it would allow translation quality to scale with the amount of interest--which, IMO, is exactly how it should work. That might allow you cut the initial starting goal even further to maximize the chances of success, without sacrificing translation quality if the campaign goes as well as you hope. The team has all agreed, without question, to do the final pass for free. Also... we've just added Backerkit, which has a PayPal option inside: http://help.backerkit.com/article/351-paying-with-paypal1 point -

Sakura no Uta Final: The true path, Ai (the normal ending), and the True ending
gustave154 reacted to Clephas for a blog entry
I'm going to come right out and say it... Sca-ji slipped up a bit when he designed the true path. Oh, I could understand the big turning point event being as it is, but its effect on certain characters - Rin for instance - doesn't make nearly as much sense as he wants you to think. Rin's change is the most dramatic (for all that happens during the true path, the protagonist is pretty much rock solid, even if he wavers). It is also the most odd, even with the knowledge about her that Sca-ji has been pounding into you from the start (with his usual heavy-handedness). Ai can be considered the true path heroine... except that there isn't one. There is a side-ending for Ai that basically could be considered a normal ending, where the protagonist becomes completely dependent on her in most ways... and it feels almost like a bad ending, despite the easy atmosphere. She does play a role in the main part of the true path after the turning point, but that role is mostly unseen. Sca-ji's choice of turning points in the true path would have been - in many ways - better carried out as an unmovable point of all the heroine paths. My own feeling was that he wasted a perfect way to create an even stronger dramatic escalation for Makoto's, Shizuku's, and Rin's paths by choosing to structure the game the way he did, making you feel too much like the heroine paths were just a foil for what he really wanted to write... the true path. Considering that I actually enjoyed Rin's, Rina's, and Makoto's paths more than I did the true one, I honestly feel that he failed in that respect, actually weakening the VN as a whole by going that way. To be blunt, the turning point of the true path is pretty much the only incident that completely and utterly strips the protagonist of his armor of nonchalance, and seeing how each heroine would have dealt with it would have in and of itself provided a lot of enjoyment and added a lot more depth to the experience. As it is, the true path is actually more of a drag on the VN as a whole, rather than a good center. PS: Yes, I'm aware that, for everyone that agrees with that assessment, there will be a half dozen others who disagree, but that is how I experienced it. I'm biased against Sca-ji's style, and I honestly think he let his bad habits get out of control in the true path. October VN of the Month Announcement This was actually a harder month to judge than any of the last three or four months, because there were multiple VN of the Month candidates that actually made it to a level where I thought them worth considering. Primal Hearts 2, Kyuuketsu Hime no Libra, and Sakura no Uta were all worthy of a VN of the Month, and it is typical of my experiences with the Japanese VN industry that all of them should be released at the same time. Libra is an excellent light chuunige/slice-of-life/comedy hybrid that has its flaws but overall manages to be more than it seems from the outside. Primal Hearts 2 was a sequel that easily surpasses the original in most ways, taking many of the best elements and discarding some of the worst ones of the original. Sakura no Uta, despite being a deeply flawed work, is nonetheless one that has a lot of artistic (not making a joke, no) value, even if Sca-ji's inability to restrain his love of pompousness and laying down the endless layers of foreshadowing tended to weaken the experience as a whole at times (as well as his tendency to go off on tangents to over-reinforce points he already made). As such, I had to go back and honestly consider each on its own merits... if one ignores its flaws, Sakura no Uta is the obvious forerunner. If one goes for completion as a single work within its genre, I'd have to point to Primal Hearts 2. Last of all, if I had to point to a work that took a lot of different elements from various VN genres to create something interesting within a somewhat stagnated hybrid genre, I would go for Libra. However, the point I made above stands... Sakura no Uta really is the obvious forerunner, based on pure writing quality and the existence of three excellent heroine paths. I honestly haven't encountered any better individual heroine paths than those in a long time, and it proves that Sca-ji is capable of doing that kind of work, if he really puts his mind to it... and though I still have reservations about making this announcement, Sakura no Uta is my VN of the Month for October.1 point -
