  1. VN Info: https://vndb.org/v13188 Hello guys. I've started to read this visual novel and decided to translate it while I read it to share it with everyone, but its taking its time... It'd be quicker if I had the original script at hand... (what I'm currently doing is write in a .txt file, each line in jap first and then next to it the eng translation, but it'll take a lot more if I do it this way.) so I thought of making a thread here and ask for help, (especially from a hacker...) if more translators feel like giving me a hand with this one, guys you're more than welcome. P.S: this script will need Proofreading. Wanna help? send a mail to the following E-mail address> [email protected] ~EDIT~ Thanks to Kelebek1 the TL will be a lot faster~ Total amount of Scripts: 148 Total amount of Lines: 72189 TL Progress: 0%

  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HzQzkXjIRY And with that, I would like to bring this Ambidex game to a close. Before you start asking how the game is over when no one has reached 5 points yet, let me give you a quote and explain my reasoning. This quote stood was ever present in my mind as the game progressed. This game stood as a simple wager to myself, and the subject of said wager was the human soul. However, instead of putting on stakes on bribes like money, I wanted to see how people would react with virtually no incentive whatsoever. There was no reason for you to betray one another. You could have all allied and it would have been over. Yet, for 6 games this never occurred. Some of you, like Tiago, realized the way to victory was to always ally. However, not ‘all’ of you realized this. For most of you, there were times when you would ally and times when you would betray. Essentially, there were times when I could influence you, and times when I couldn't. Some of you would betray only when forced to do so and your life depended on it, and some of you would do it without a second thought. In this way, it ended up being true that the human soul is random. You couldn't predict what kind of person someone was until they were put to the test; and this game served that purpose for all of you. Further, it’s not like I had 100% control over you guys as well. All I could do was give you a push, and whether or not you responded was all up to you. No penalties were placed on you for not betraying or for not using MS, yet most of you jumped at the chance to mess with your other teammates. From the beginning of this game, there were two conditions in place for victory. The obvious one was that one or more of you reach 5 points, using your cleverness. The other was the most obvious thing that most of you failed to realize, get everyone through in one game. This required little effort and was the most logical choice from the beginning, but until now no one realized that was viable. I honestly only expected the game to go 3 rounds or so until this happened but surprisingly it didn't happen until game 7. This is not to say that what transpired didn't live up to my expectations. This is far from the truth. I had a great deal of fun watching this game progress and observing how clever some of you could be. In fact, I worry for my own safety if I even end up in a real-life survival game with some of you. Overall, this was an enjoyable experience and I couldn't have asked for more. Thus congratulations to Tiago, Linova, Silvz, Funya, Cyr, Grimm, Kurisu, Shiko, and XReaper. All of you will be receiving awards for reaching the true end of the game. To the rest of you, thank you for participating. I hope to come up with more games like this at some point in the future.

    Zalor - The Analyst

Thank you so much, I truly feel honored for this post! I'm glad my work has been appreciated. This whole thing truly did begin with that idea. For those curious about the back story, in early 2014 or late 2013, Tay had this idea for a VN literary journal, and I was one of the people who applied to write for it. My article was going to explore the complex relationship between Mai and Sayuri in Kanon. The VN journal ended up not happening. My activity on the forums also gradually faded for a while, and then when I returned I felt really guilty as I remembered that I was partly responsible for the VN Lit journal not happening. So I finally sat down and rewrote the previous draft I had (I ended up scrapping most of what I previously had). It took a week or two of repeatedly rereading Mai and Sayuri's routes, writing and rewriting, and listening to the Kanon OST (for inspiration), and on June 30th I finally finished and published it on the forums. The first thing I did afterwards was pm Tay an apology, and I ended the message saying something along lines of "I hope you believe in the adage 'better late than never'". Since then, when a VN truly speaks to me I try to organize my thoughts of it on to paper (well, digital paper). Anyway, once again thanks for this post!

    Zalor - The Analyst

Hello everyone! Rose here, bringing you guys another member highlight. Today we'll be talking about someone who has been around for quite a while now but might not have caught your attention yet, even though he deserves it a lot. Zalor has been here for two years now, and while he doesn't have ten thousand posts nor three hundred threads created, he surely made the few ones under his belt count. Most recently, he proposed some interesting discussion topics that were also mentioned in our "Threads you should check out" list, so you might want to check them out. Now, as the title implies, he has done a few analyses that will be linked below, together with a small commentary about each of those. When it comes to VNs, a lot of people say that we lack some content that other fandoms have in amplitude, such as fanfictions, fanarts, well-though theories and articles in general, and that much is pretty much true. For that reason, people like Zalor are amazingly valuable to our community and his work deserves a lot of recognition, not only for being a content that we lack, but also for their admirably high quality. Unfortunately, as I haven't read Narcissu nor Kanon, I couldn't write something about those analyses but I reached out for people who did but had never read his works, so reading their thoughts was even better for me, and surely it'll also be like that for Zalor. "The greatest tribute you could pay an artist is to seriously think about their work" - Zalor Perspective in Saya no Uta (Link) "A fantastic analysis! From the well-crafted introduction to the relatively comical last line, Zalor delivers some nice thoughts about what could very well be one of the most complex and deep translated VN to date. Not only pointing the protagonist, he also shares insights about the perspectives of all the main cast on the many possible ways to see and understand the world built in the novel. I'd also like to give a quick shout-out to Plénitude, who made interesting observations and rethought Zalor's interpretations, adding a lot to the discussion." -Rose Kanon: Mai and Sayuri Analysis (Link) "It was a really good read, well thought out, good amount of detailed analysis without nitpicking or over analyzing, he drew parallels well and I personally liked the fact that while Mai is more focused in that route you agree with my assessment that Sayuri is by far the more tragic of the two heroines." -krill Narcissu and Death (Link) "Wonderful analysis of Narcissu. Just as the tale of Narcissu is a somber one, the analysis follows suit going into detail through the various interactions between the main character and Setsumi. A specific standout point would be the relation drawn between sensuality and death, which was particularly well thought-out. And finally, with a reference to the literary genius, Joesph Cambell, and a well structured conclusion, I found that our opinions agreed greatly. Narcissu truly is, as Zalor said, an 'uncensored portrayal of the complete hopelessness and isolation in facing death'." -LinovaA With this, I'm ending this recognition post. I hope you guys enjoyed it and that our brief comments were enough to get you guys interested in his works. Zalor brings a lot to our community and I hope to have the pleasure to read more of his analyses in the future. Keep up the amazing work, soldier. Your efforts are definitely appreciated!

  15. Last night I finished my play-through of Princess Evangile and having completed it, I feel I can finally talk about something that has been on my mind since starting. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it; Princess Evangile is about a boy called Masaya who, through a series of unfortunate events finds himself attending Vincennces, an all-girls school for upper-class snobs that has been isolated from the lower world (outside family, most of the students have never even seen a boy before). From what I can gather this premise isn’t unheard of in visual novels but none one the less, it was my first time with such a story which is probably why it had such an impact on me. As the premise suggests, there are no male characters besides the protagonist (excluding student’s fathers and the Goons who aren’t in it too much). This means that Masaya is now without something that I feel is an important aspect of male youth; Mateship. Mateship can be seen differently by different people but to me, one of the key features of mateship is aggression. When I think about my mates and how we interact with each other it does seem a little peculiar from a social standpoint; we insult each other constantly (I greet my oldest friend by referring to him as “Captain Piss-Wank”), we get into little scuffles and generally seem more aggressive towards each other than we should. But at the same time we are very close, close enough to know that there is no malice behind our actions and that we are watching each other’s backs. When I compare this to the relationships between the Vincennes students I can’t help but feel they are two very different things. There are many phrases that apply to mateship; No man left behind, brothers in arms, fighting is a way of loving, you watch my back I’ll watch yours. I don’t think there were any students who embodied these philosophies. Even with regards to Rise and Mitsuki....... Another sign of differing relationships is in Chiho’s route. Masaya says that he saw Chiho differently to all his male friends, though this may be due to either his dormant love for her or the fact that they are childhood friends. While playing Princess Evangile I came up with a separate scenario; while growing up Masaya had a group of friends who like him had troubled lives thanks to the mob. These boys acted like delinquents but at heart were just trying to enjoy their miserable lives. When Masaya enter Vincennces he regains contact with his mates and through various circumstances they are allowed to meet where the normal student can see them. I often wondered how the girls would react to not only seeing a group of boys, but the bond between these men. To see them insult each other, to slap each other in the back and act like (in the girl’s eyes) enemies. One specific moment of this delusion was during the open athletics festival were Masaya would spar with the strongest delinquent, the girls would look on in horror as Masaya gets his arse handed to him yet when it’s over the boys laugh, complement each other on their strength and walk off as if nothing ever happened. I can imagine the girls being confused by this sudden turn around; one moment they are at each other’s throats and the next they are walking off reminiscing about past spars. It’s funny when you get down to it, the students refer to themselves as family yet their relationships with each other never really gave off that impression, certainly not the same impression as two friends calling each other “brother”. I can’t imagine the girls of Vincennces getting together and singing like the Dwarves in the first Hobbit movie (and not just because they are upper-class), though I could imagine the boys doing it while the headmistress acts as Bilbo. A question this brings up for me is “Can two women have the same relationship?” This is one that I can’t answer, and whilst I'm sure men and women can have a similar relationship, these would be an exception, not the rule. This is something of an argument from ignorance because I interact with women so little that they may as well be an alien species (and isn't that just depressing), so for all I know men and women can have the same relationship with no barriers, though based of my observations this is unlikely. At the end of the day, Masaya is deprived of something that is one of they defining factors that make men. Despite how close he gets with the students of Vincennes, it is my considered opinion that he will never experience What do you guys think of this? Can two women have the same type of relationship as two men? Do you and your mates act more aggressive towards each other, or do you have another way of expressing your friendship?

  20. Good day soldiers! Today I have gathered you all for a very simple purpose! After weeks of evaluation, it is now time for me to assign you to the branch of military we have deemed you worthy for. You will either end up in the Survey Corps, acting as the vanguard to our assaults against the Titans, the Garrison, ensuring the safety of our city walls, and protecting the citizens, or the Military Police, the elite few who guard the King, and government officials. YOUR DUTY IS TO KILL TITANS AND THREATS TO HUMANITY. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION. Assignments are as follow: Survey Corps vibrantblade SuperOreman Suikashoujo Kimossab Stray Cat Rose Noah_Crisis Brensen Nekomimishinigami Garrison Flutterz Ivangelato Silverbullet 312 Atorq Kyrt Gurluas Zodai Military Police Edumax Quark MasterWizard Katatsumuri HOW THIS WORKS: This game will be decided through various dice rolls (slightly similar to D&D). Over the next 2 weeks, 7 scenarios will be presented with various courses of actions to choose from. Your branch will decide what to do and we will see how it affects you through dice rolls. For example, the garrison might be faced with a Titan breaking through the walls. They can choose to fight, evacuate citizens, retreat to a more defensible spot, or flee. Picking one option will affect the next scenario (similar to a choose your own adventure). What I need from your teams, is within 24 hours, elect a spokesperson that will PM me the choices your branch makes. In this thread, I will record those choices for everyone to see and also post the scenarios. It is highly advisable you all set up group PMs for your teams. Please do not discuss team activities in this thread. This thread is now reserved for questions, and scenarios/results. SCORING: Scoring will follow as such. Each scenario for a team will result in a certain amount of points for that team. The Survey Corps will have the highest valued scenarios, but also the highest lose points scenarios/negative impact scenarios. The Garrison will be average, and the Military Police will have very low scoring scenarios/low risk scenarios. Note: What one branch does, can affect another branch very easily. Notice how the Garrison is made up of the top 4 scorers. If all of this doesn't make sense, it will after the first scenario. The first scenario will begin when I receive PMs from all 3 spokespeople. If you don't see your name in any of the three branches, just let me know, and I will correct that If you have questions, feel free to ask. I will be lurking most of the day.

  22. I'm going to ignore the prompt at the end of your post. Sorry! Just wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your post. I thought it was really fun to watch how close friendships affected the characters, too. R and M were great examples, but even inside the core group of friends there is a lot of in-joking, play-fighting and play-mocking (which, okay, I guess goes to show that I think gender doesn't really matter and "mateship" crosses genders). I feel like that's the strongest part of the game's writing so far. That said, I'm still on my first route (Rise), so I haven't explored Chie's story (deciding between those two routes pained me greatly). Your post helped re-spark my excitement to circle back at the end of Rise's route and check out Chie's, too. (How long did the routes last for you after the common route ended?)

  29. To be fair, I don't think we've been stagnating. I mean, maybe there hasn't been anything crazy here on the forums, but I'd say we've done some really cool things in the last few weeks: VNTS posts were made every Saturday (Edit) As part of ^ I've tweaked and improved VNTL-Moon I arranged to have a link to our VNTS posts included in demeatloaf's /r/visualnovels/ weekly reddit post Zaka hasn't killed me (yet) I've networked with a big chunk of the TL groups on VNTL-Moon and have reached out to ~40% of the groups (if extant) who made the patches for games we used to host Stray Cat still looks great I've had great chats with J-List and some people who work at MG, and will be contacting Sekai tomorrow about getting game keys for reviews and other activities One really cool thing I've been working on is networking with a bunch of really passionate otome bloggers/reporters and making cool plans (more on this, later) I've made progress on the front site text assets (Edit) Oh, and ~5 hours of work on the behind-the-scenes reviews site The recognition team has done some really, really great work I don't blame anyone on the forums for feeling like we were in a 'stagnation' period -- I didn't post about ^ this stuff, after all, until just now. That said, I just want to assure everybody that a lot of work is being done each week outside the forums : P. I don't think we've gone a week since the New Year without making progress on one major project or another.

  42. This I also sort my music, manga and VNs alphabetically. I don't really see the point of having any complicated setup. Like, sure you can do it by genre, but for what purpose? I know all the stuff in my HDD so it really feels pointless to go above and beyond to separate everything, which by the way also makes it more annoying when you want to delete stuff. And if you say it's because you can make playlists easier or make it easier to find something along the same themes, well any modern video player lets you make a list that you can rename so... Simplicity is best.

  45. Greetings and salutations! I am Rose, leader of the recognition team and I'm here to announce our new project, whose name you can see just above. What is it? This will be a weekly Fabulous on Fuwa post, containing a list of threads and blog posts made this week that you should check out. What's the purpose of this project? We have two reasons for doing it. First of all, there are lots of threads that technically fit the "should be highlighted" criteria used to decide what the team will be writing about, but making a whole post about them would definitely be overkill and just flood the blog. With that in mind, we started thinking about a way to give them recognition while not butchering our quality standards, which leads us to the second reason: availability of the members. Not everyone browse the forums every single day of the week for 12 hours, so people will naturally miss a thread or two, then to help you guys while also solving our problem, this project was born. Which threads and blog posts will be highlighted? We're dividing the list in categories, so whatever fit them is likely to get a spot. Those are: Discussion - Any thread that's trying to setup a discussion or that can generate one by its content. This is not limited only to the Visual Novel Talk board, though it'll be likely from there that we'll get most threads for this category. Announcement - This one is for new project threads such as Manor of Amnesia; devs threads announcing their stuff; VN related tools (e.g TyranoBullder) and basically anything similar to what was mentioned just now. Staff Announcement - Any kind of announcement made by the staff, such as the recently announced award's system overhaul and vntl moon. Lists - Well, duh. We're likely not getting many under this category but I believe it's a relevant one and should at least exist. Guides - Same case as above. Games/Giveaways - Any kind of forum activities (e.g Ren's kancolle avatar group) and/or giveaways. Other Discussion board - Any kind of thread on the O.D board that might be interesting in a way, just keep in mind that absolutely nothing from The Coliseum of Chatter will be allowed here. Blog posts - Interesting blog posts, such as Rooke's writing critique about sakura spirit or Lino's first untranslated route. This is similar to the "Discussion" category but blogs work on a different way than forums, so I believe it's reasonable to divide them. Reviews hub/ Blog reviews (?) - We're not sure yet, but we might add these if we receive a positive feedback on the idea. So anything made before this week won't ever be highlighted? On regular circumstances? Yes. Can we make exceptions? Yes. If something happens on the thread that could be considered a "new feature" or something like that, then we'll consider adding it to the week's list. As an example, if I update my Grisaia analyses thread with a new route, the thread has now something new that was made this week, fitting the purpose of this project. When will the list be posted? Saturday, always. Some people might see them Friday or Sunday due to time zones, but probably not by much. We chose it because people are busy during weekdays and usually use their Saturday to go party, hang out with friends and all that, so Sunday is likely everyone's "I won't do shit today" day. Posting it Saturday allows you guys to have the list ready for Sunday regardless of time zones, so I believe it's the best choice. This week will have a really basic post since I didn't had time to finish the banners and all that. Some of you might be aware that I simply love using images and delaying posts because of aesthetics, so normally I wouldn't ever consider starting the project before having everything done, but as this week was filled with good threads, I can't simply ignore them. The first list should be live in a few hours, so keep an eye out for it. Feedback is definitely welcome, so if you have anything to say about the project, please tell us.
