So, to get some conversations started, I'll ask some questions. What's your favorite SCP? What's the scariest SCP in your opinion? My favorite would be SCP 409. I think the scariest SCP is SCP 096. Any objects coming in contact with SCP-409 will begin to crystallize after three hours. This effect will occur in any material other than granite. The crystallization will spread by approximately 2.5cm (1in) per minute, and will convert the entire object or organism, inside and out. Subjects report this effect to be extremely painful, and similar to frostbite. After complete crystallization, the object will begin to make snapping and creaking noises for approximately twenty minutes, before bursting into thousands of fragments with great force. I think I read one on a intelligent reptile from another dimension and the old man with the pocket dimension that rots things. I thought those two were pretty cool. Getsuya Posted June 5, 2015 Share Posted June 5, 2015 Can't remember which one it was but there's one SCP where the actual SCP itself is kind of mundane, something to do with mirrors I think, but then all of the sudden in the related files there's like this huge travelogue story about this world on the other side of a mirror or something like that. Too lazy to look it up right now but it was pretty good writing and it had me on the edge of my seat. Also the stairwell was a pretty good one. One of the problems I have with SCP is the huge gaps in quality between a lot of them. I tend to only read the ones that have been upvoted a ton because there's some really dumb junk in there. Some people seem to think that as long as they make it grimdark enough somehow fear will magically pop out, and it just doesn't happen. My least favorite one is the little girl they have to [redacted] over and over forever or the world will end or something. It's a thinly-veiled attempt to use child rape for its grimdark shock value to get upvotes. And it's a popular enough one to get referenced in SCP stories and other things on the site. I get why the monsters like 096 would be a more popular pick, but being forced to go down those steps alone would just be too fucking much for me. xD Even if there WASN'T a fuck you monster waiting to scare the shit out of you as you descend.
