VN of the Month April 2015 - Chrono Clock

There are very few normal titles this month, but enough of gameplay ones. Two sequels weren't good enough for a masterpiece, so Chrono Clock becomes VN of the Month by default. Clephas was of the similar opinion. Micchi and Zen cheer up for gameplay titles like Evenicle and Kami no Rhapsody, but also comedy Puramai Wars and Eiyuutan fandisc.

11. Hakuisei Aijou Izonshou 白衣性愛情依存症 [150430] Kogado Studio 1 2 3
"The bitter-sweet love story of the white robe angels."
Oosachi Asuka was a high school girl who lived life in a carefree, easygoing way while holding the nickname "Jellyfish Club Leader." But as graduation approaches, her classmates started to seriously think about college and their futures, which made Asuka feel uneasy.
The self you want to become...
Dreams of the future...
Unable to answer those two thoughts, Asuka wandered in her closet for a change of pace and discovered an old picture book. The writing was faded, but enough to make out the meanings behind the words.
"I will become a nurse."
Without a doubt, those were her letters she herself wrote down inside that favorite picture book of hers growing up. That wasn't the only source for her resolve as she has her younger sister "Oosachi Nao": Younger by one year, same grade level, adores her older sis, and is the self-proclaimed "Responsible Imouto" and "Onee-chan's Special Medicine." Thanks to Nao who's looked after her and encouraged her to work hard, Asuka didn't have a lot of obstacles in her way. After taking the first steps to becoming a splendid nurse, they both succeeded in entering "The Imperial Capital Nursing Technical School" based in the holy site of Yurigahama.
Upon entering, Asuka encounters two classmates: "Amatou Itsuki" and "Takeda Sakuya."
Both are attractive, in-shape, excel in school, and possess many other things... none of which she has. Asuka, who tries to get along with them, gets treated coldly by Sakuya for really no apparent reason...
Along with the guidance of their instructor "Oohara Kaede", the white robe angel (as Asuka puts it), Asuka and Nao spend their busy days as nursing students.
From classroom lectures and nurse basics to on-the-site training.
In hospitals where the death of people exist close by, Asuka and friends grow together as people, and then as nurses. They also experience many things not often encountered:
Words of gratitude and words of abuse...
Lives that are saved and lives that are not saved...
The meanings behind life and death...
The meanings behind the entirety of a person—— the truth of a person.
What fate awaits Asuka and everyone else within these three years?
The answer can only be...

Bansenjin was the sequel that should never have been written.  Why couldn't Masada have just created another new IP?

Chrono Clock is at the lower end of the post-Mirai Nostalgia Purple Soft games in terms of quality, but that is still well above the average for a VN.

Evenicle has decent gameplay but the story is crap.

Kami no Rhapsody has a decent concept and story, but the gameplay suffers from inherent limitations due to a system that was probably designed with eventual mobile ports in mind.

Puramai Wars is a decent charage... but it doesn't go beyond decent.

Quite a number of the releases that I recognize, so let's see what I can comment in regard of April 2015 releases.

Basenjin - I would like light to localize the prequel only if it's what light can do at most, although I definitely won't push my luck too much for the localization chance by making the online petition at Change.org in order to have light localize Senshinkan.

Da Capo 2 Dearest Marriage - Good for Otome fans I suppose, and other than that I suppose Otome here at least is more popular compared to her grandmother Nemu if Circus willingly to make the fandisc for her. Unlike Kotori FD though, Circus here still not localize this yet and probably never will seeing that it's quite old.

Flowers Ete - Second part of Flowers that put more focus on Erika in that back at first part she's more or less just supporting character, and in here she's the MC who obviously need to deal with her own love story that was started from on how both of Erika and her love interest were always clashed at first. Oh Erika also need to deal with Suou (First Flowers MC) who more or less had slump thanks to the event at the first part, and it's up to Erika to cheer up Suou.

Hakuai - At first I thought that it would be just normal GL VN with the nurse setting, until I see a certain CG which more or less tell that Hakuai here won't be just a normal GL VN. Anyway KOGADO here did write that three out of four routes here did contain the plot that happen in the VN, and only the teacher route that more or less didn't related to the main plot therefore make her route is a bit anomaly. At least I can say that this should be good GL VN if one want to see the story focused VN, despite on how you'll feel about the story. Oh yes we already have this localized since back at 2016.

Chrono Clock - While Miu herself is quite prominent in the beginning in that she's the one who started the plot, she's more or less just the heroine for the prologue (And the prologue was felt like her route) and instead if one want to see who is the real main heroine of Chrono Clock it's Cro who is the goddess that reside inside the clock that the MC (Rei) hold. Anyway the premise here is that Rei who use the mysterious clock that has power to back into five minutes ago just for him to confess to a girl and then revert back to five minutes ago, which to say quite mundane compared to what kind of possibility that could be happen if the power used properly. Other thing to note is that this is Purple Software VN that clearly separated the story and sex scenes, and the sex scenes is very few compared to their future VNs (Only 12 scenes compared to Amatsutsumi 22 scenes and Aoi Tori 25 scenes). Oh yes we already have this localize, so one can play this in English as well.

Saekano - Somehow the staffs didn't involve the original writer (Maruto Fumiaki) in writing this VN despite the face that he's more or less experienced in writing VNs, and it's quite out there when we know that Date A Live VN goes farther to have the original writer involved in the writing (Or at least has some roles).

Evenicle - Alicesoft first series that wasn't Rance, and apparently the sales at Steam is very successful so much that they tried to localized the sequel by themselves only to be failed because Steam decided to ban the sequel even with the controversial censorship that Alicesoft did proving on how random Valve can be. Anyway the premise is very simple with Aster want to marry both of his twin childhood friend (Who from what I see is more like the plot device to start the plot), and so Aster decided to become knight because only knight that can marry more than one female in the setting. One way or another, Aster find themselves to marry more than he want initially along with fighting several enemies based on Seven Deadly Sins. The gameplay is quite simple in that each members has fixed role and that each party will gain one mana per turn, sort of the combination of FFIV and FF 4 Heroes of Light (Bonus point that the latter also featured Seven Deadly Sins).

Kami no Rhapsody - The Eushully VN that was translated after Kamidori, and it took nine years to have another Eushully VNs properly translated (By the way I would count Amayui as properly translated, although since the translator did admit that he used MTL to help the translation understandably people were kind of antsy with that). The story is like The Law of Ueki in that the Big Good (Divine Enforcer) did ask the youth from all of races to compete in the competition, and our MC here is lucky to be chosen as one of competitor even though he initially just want to accompany his female childhood friend. Eushully here did experiment with the gameplay in that they made the player use one mana bar in order to do both of casting the spell/skill and summon the party member, which obviously not the one that people easily accepted and it can be proven that the innovation is failed seeing that Eushully did go back to use Kamidori mana system in Amayui later.

That's all for what I can comment in regard of April 2015 releases.
