Reading Ginharu Very Slowly #1

I decided that in order to keep track of what I've read, I'm going to write short summaries of what happened in Ginharu. I figured I might as well post them here, someone might find them interesting, and others might flame me for reading SoL garbage. Since I'm a Japanese noob, the reading will be very slow and probably very inaccurate, but it's better than waiting for the TL (ETA 50,000 years). I've read a little bit before today, so here's all that basically happened:

Protag's step-mom takes an amazing photo of Yukito and his step-sister Yuzuki

Spoiler

The cropping really brings out his eyes

They then walk to school together, but rather than not be late Yukito drops his sister off and goes to visit his actual mom at his grandma's coffee shop

Spoiler

Is she, like, 12?

Then upon being sent to some classroom or another for being late we meet the Canadian transfer student Bethly

Spoiler

SYBfGrf.jpg

She's wearing a scarf because she's sitting in an empty classroom near the window with the heating off

They can barely understand each other, but eventually Yukito turns the heating on and gets her a chemical heating pad from the infirmary, and he has to explain how it works... to someone from Canada...

Upon reaching their actual classroom and giving introductions we meet the person we're sitting next to, Momiji

Spoiler

We have a few awkward conversations with Bethly

Spoiler

rWyLKDP.jpg

It doesn't seem like she really wanted to be here, poor girl

School is over and we go to meet our senpai ice-skating nearly-champion who just came back, Mizuha

Spoiler

EAKBJxA.jpg

We also get a flashback what was probably a childhood marriage promise between the two

Last but not least, we meet the super-genki Aoi, Yuzuki's classmate who already became her friend

Spoiler

No program~

The three of them then go visit Yukito's mom again, and Aoi basically tells her that she was right to get a divorce to follow her dream of becoming a super violinist

Spoiler

Eventually everyone just ends up hugging Yuzuki

And that's basically everything that's happened so far, to the best of my (poor) knowledge, time to go read more!

You got everything ok until that part so keep it up! You have a long journey ahead of you so good luck.

Spoiler

well maybe not with the promise... who knows xD
Your mom likes to tease you A LOT (and to momo-sensei also xD)
Hinata speaks engrish on purpose that's the joke on itself
Bethly speaks engrish because the writers didnt even bother to use google translator to fix their broken english...

finally you need to understand the whole situation with the カイロ, this is probably what she was dealing with, so it kinda make sense xD

Bethley and Yuzuki are the easiest routes to read probably (specially bethley's)
Hinata's route is probably the hardest but funniest (I will create a blog one of these days to talk about her route and momiji)
The choices to pick a girl are really easy to spot (only 2 of them matter, the rest are meaningless)

Yeah, I read your blog, but that's exactly what the flashback looks like so that's what I wrote, even though marriage was never really mentioned. :P

And I know "No Program" was a joke because Yukito corrects her later, so it's not like the writers don't know any better. :sacchan: Oh, and to their credit, they picked a VA for Bethly whose English pronunciation is (relatively speaking) pretty good.

Well yeah, that's a hand warmer right? Based on the fact that he had to shake it to get it to work, it's probably a chemical one too.

Yep, those were chemical hand warmers. This is one of the of the things I complained, they talk on and on about some specific item but they never actually show it to you. How hard could it be to show you a rectangular picture of the mentioned item just to give you a rough idea? >_>

Oh, trust me, the engrish is strong in this VN.

If I had to guess I'd say the shirt is just a joke :P Tronto is pretty bad though.

It's not xD

(they even wrote bad some names on the credit scene in some mini movie, after you finish the game!)

btw I know i'm not the most qualified person to point out english mistakes :P but the ones you encounter in the vn are pretty obvious and bad (like tronto)

That's a shame then, surely it couldn't have been that hard to hire someone to check a few hundred English lines.
