VN of the Month: Just letting yall know

Clephas

September's VN of the Month is probably going to be a contest between Baldr Heart, Inochi no Spare, and Gin'iro, Haruka.  Why?  Everything else I dropped shortly after exiting the prologue, wanting to puke from the kusoge-smell.  It might not be fair to them, but Ichibun, Yuuwaku, and Triangle Love just aren't VNs that have any chance, with Gin'iro defining the field for slice-of-life and romance.  I can't bring myself to play anymore Gin'iro, but that isn't because it sucks... it is because I'm going to have to wait a few weeks to a few months so my memories of Yuzuki and Bethly fade enough for me to be able to bring myself to continue (just doing Yuzuki's path was kind of pushing it).

Now, it is almost time for my ritual yearly poll on whether to continue VN of the Month or not... and one thing I've noticed is that people are missing the point when I ask people whether I should continue or not.  I'm asking people if they value me writing down my opinions on various VNs every month, not if they think it would be worth it from my point of view (which seems to be the assumption).  Lots of comments telling me to take a rest... but none telling me what they actually think about the blog.  This time around, I don't intend to do the poll, simply because it feels like a waste of time.  However, I do want to ask the people who actually read this blog... do you get anything of value to you from reading the hundreds of posts on individual VNs I've put up here...?

I read most of your posts, and they tend to be entertaining and often interesting, though most of the stuff you look at I'm unlikely to ever touch. I definitely want you to continue from a consumer point of view :P

I read most of your blog posts and as someone who cannot read japanese, the information about what is going on currently in the japanese market are somewhat limited. So those impressions are interesting for me even when I cannot read those titles right away (or in the foreseeable future) but some of those titles may see a translation down the line, and it is always nice to find a new VN to look forward to. But I guess a reader like me not very satisfying because I can't really give feedback or comment on your blog posts, because well I haven't read what you are writing about. None the less I value your blog posts and the time you put into them and would like to see you continue writing them.

While my tastes are completely irreconcilable with yours, I like to read your blog posts for insight and general info on titles. I read a lot of things myself, but have neither the ability nor the will to write reviews or even simple comments intended for other people. One can also be sure that these posts are spoiler-free (at least that's how it appears to be) and don't show CGs which most "spoiler-free" blogs love to slap all over the posts, which is the main reason I avoid them in most cases.

Honestly I read every post you made even if I'm not very active and I really value your opinions about Vns you really know how to describe the vns you read and tell who they are made for and it is always interesting to know what are the strong points and the weak ones of the vn you play. ^^

I've read your blogs even long before I joined the forum since you're one of the only people who's writing English reviews for newly released untranslated titles.

That doesn't mean I read all of your blogs. The blogs I usually always read are the ones for the titles from the more popular VN developers. If it's from a more unknown developer it depends if there's something that grabs my interest like good art or you're praising it to heaven. But if it already starts with random nobody and your first lines are already foreshadowing the total mediocrity of the title, then it's definitely possible that I stop reading there (sorry).

However, if you're picking a VN of the month and I haven't already read the review for it then I usually make up for it by reading it afterwards. I also tend to treat your blogs a bit like an info library. If some titles I missed somehow pick my interest later on because of various reasons (Getchu awards, gets translated, whatever) it's definitely possible that I look them up later.

Not sure if I really need the blog but it's always nice to see what game was good/bad and few reasons for it. I don't need the entries to be so long.

Just to let you know, I still visit Fuwa every day just to check your blog. Despite the fact that our opinions sometimes are very different (such as your dislike for Rewrite, and your love for Grisaia), I can always see where you are coming from. Like, if it wasn't for this blog, I probably would have never started learning Japanese (your small reviews helped me see the big world of untranslated VNs I was missing, especially the Chuu2. My dream is to one day be able to read Tokyo Necro, Silverio Vendetta, and all those cool-looking Chuu2.). Luckily, we share the same dislike for ichaicha/icharabu, so whenever you mention this flaw in a review, I mark that game so I will never touch it. I'm currently playing Miranosu (only in the beginning, tho), since Hapymaher is way too complicated for me yet. I hope it turns out as good as you think it is. I tried to find a review/comment of your on that game, but I couldn't find it, unfortunately; just that you consider it a kamige.

that's a toughie because the people that don't frequent your blog will say no but the people that do will obviously say yes in the whole finding value of you continuing it

ill be the bad guy and so no!@# :upupu:

Yep, it's great. If anything, it serves as a way for me not to spam you with messages, since I get to read your thoughts on these games either way.

Well, to be honest I'd never read your blogpost here the moment you post it here, until at least few days later or whenever I'm bored. My suggestion here would be keep it up if you feel like it to sharing your though here, and it might help some user who confused of how if h/she should read the VN that you reviewed or not here. Also if some VN will be localized here, than your review here would be helpful to see the opinion about localized VN here. So, even if I'm not one of the people who will find the use for your raw VN review here (I'd chose to just deal with localized VN for now. Sorry), I'd would said keep up your good job here.

@starlessn1ght Well, I'd found it here and let's just said that Clephas really like the Hapymaher OST so much here. Oh, and I looking forward to translated version of Hapymaher release here.

You got it wrong. I was talking about Miranosu. There is also a Hapumaher post on the VN of the month thread and a couple on his blog...
