Which random VN would you like me to play first?

24 members have voted

  1. 1. Which do you want me to play first?

    • Ojousama wa Gokigen Naname (https://vndb.org/v11726)
      3
    • Sengoku Himeka (https://vndb.org/v17810)
      3
    • Dracu-riot (https://vndb.org/v8213)
      5
    • Draculius (https://vndb.org/v453)
      1
    • Silverio Vendetta (https://vndb.org/v16134)
      5
    • Houkago no Futekikakusha (https://vndb.org/v13904)
      5
    • Other (anything you think you want me to look at)
      2
  2. 2. Final read for VN of the Month

    • Dies Irae side-story
      5
    • Jeanne (Liar-soft)
      11
    • Shoujo-tachi (Takahiro's new work)
      8

Right now, while the pain meds are wearing off and my mind is relatively clear (since I don't recall anything I did or posted today before an hour and a half ago) I figured I'd  post this poll.

First, I'm more or less decided on setting aside any more reading for VNs from March, at least for the next week.  I will resume playing at least one more on the nineteenth, so if you want, feel free to vote on the other poll, though I will probably ignore the results from it.

The first VN on the random poll is one I keep recommending, one of the two reasons I keep playing Ensemble games, despite three kusoge in a row.  Ojousama wa Gokigen Naname is a perfect example of showing off the insanity that can come out of a powerful family's internal struggles, along with the love that can flower despite it.

Sengoku Himeka is an otomege that recently got put up on Steam.  Since you can apparently play it in Japanese as well, I went ahead and purchased and downloaded it.

Dracu-riot I'm sure most of yall are familiar with (I'm not really serious about this one, since I already played it twice), but I figured I'd put it up here for the sake of argument.

Draculius is my favorite 'easy to read' vampire VN, my all-around favorite vampire VN being Vermilion.  I have actually played it through several times, and if you want to see an ancient review I did for it, Google Draculius and Clephas Stomach,  lol.  It is the VN that a lot of Libra is taken from (though the protagonist is a lot better and Belche is more interesting than Iris).

Silverio Vendetta was my favorite chuunige from last year's releases and it is getting an indirect sequel (new characters, same setting) later this year, supposedly.

Houkago no Futekikakusha is an utsuge made back in 2014 that has a lot of mixed reactions, varying wildly from person to person.  I get good reactions from some people and other people can't stand it... much like some of Nostalgic Chord's other games, Rakuen no Shugosha and Marrybell ga Shinda to Papa ni Tsutaete.

For those of you not interested in any of the above, go ahead and make a suggestion after voting for 'other'.  I'll at least listen to you make your case, even if I outright ignore the request.

You should try Mahou Shoujo. Out of the things on your list, I guess it would be most relatable to Houkago the best (fighting against monsters, seriousness). But instead of purely being an emotional ride, it's a uniquely depicted large-character cast game. (The author's rather good at it, it's his 4th game in the style of depicting large casts). Plus unlike Houkago it actually gets around to fucking explaining the setting.

There's a lot of TPRG gameplay, which ultimately isn't so difficult, still playable though. Plenty of dialogue during and around battles was great.

I heard Kouya was a wash, even Romeo fans had to admit that. Jeanne looks interesting, different setting, it's not Sakurai either (not that that's a bad thing).

looks like the same art style and Fire Emblem-style battle system as Genrin no Kishougun...

I would be pretty curious to see your opinion on Tayutama (since it's a kamige and it's getting a sequel this year). Voted for the otomege, because I've never seen your opinion on an otomege, so that might be nice as well.

I am guessing you just wrote wrong. Shoujo-tachi (Takahiro)?. Takahiro? Did you mean Tanaka Romeo.

Romeo...wrote it, but he had his hands tied by Takahiro who was directing or so I hear. The premise didn't interest me either, but I was still mildly curious until I heard the news.

Opinions for the random VN are pretty spread out... the opinions for the VN of the Month are somewhat less so so far *smiles dryly*.  Anyway, I'll be closing the poll on Saturday, so there is no hurry, lol.

Ah, right. That makes a lot more sense. From the looks of it, it's a charage-comedy vn. If you want that I suppose it's alright. I am not really expecting much.. It is all-ages though. I found that somewhat surprising.

Looking at your VNDB list and not finding these

H2O -Footprints in the Sand-. The plot is very different from the anime, if I'm right about the reason you haven't read it. (less plot in comparison, but it's more atmospheric and makes more sense). If you ask me what's the best thing about the game, I'd say it's the music.

Haruka Kanata. It might look like a moege on the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover. It's by SORAHANE, that should give you a clue on what degree of plot it has (though Sakura, Sakimashita is the one game by that company I've yet to read). Just make sure you install the latest patch (and there's a lot of patches that have come out since the release): the game is famous for being riddled with bugs. Oh and it's unhookable, though you probably don't care.
