If you thought that I was actually going to finish something I'd started before moving on to something else, then you don't know me very well. So here I am playing Tsukikana instead of Ginharu!

???: "Don't forget"

After a short prelude we have a girl pointing a plastic gun at herself.

???" "Bang..."

And then we go to the less abstract real world.

Japanese Teacher: "Make sure to review this part during summer break, alright?"

And while the protag is busy writing down some notes unrelated to class

Japanese Teacher: "Kurono Kanata... please read the next page to the class"

He closes his notes leisurely, because if he were to quickly close them that'd make it seem suspicious. But as he begins reading while thinking about how every day seems just like the last

"Suddenly my reading was interrupted"

"By a voluptuous listless student peeking out from the back door"

JP Teacher: "You're late again, Araya!"

???: "... Good morniing..."

That has to be the most exasperated greeting I've ever heard.

JP Teacher: "Don't "Good morning" me! It's already been 2 hours!"

???: "...Sorryyyy... I couldn't wake up..."

"This lateness is also a daily thing. Actually, only 2 hours late is early for her."

"A girl who regularly leaves early or skips class entirely, Araya Touka is... frankly, the class' problem child."

"She had transferred in just this spring."

After he's done reading, the teacher hands out a test printout. Once the MC turns around to pass it to Touka (who is obviously sitting right behind him)

She's already gone back to sleep, and he decides not to wake her.

Then Kanata receives a text from his friend, saying that he's heard a rumor about Araya, according to which she bullied a classmate until she killed herself, but Kanata says that the rumor is absolutely untrue.

"There are a bunch of nasty rumors floating around about Araya Touka."

"Supposedly, she goes out at night, and gets her hands on dangerous drugs."

"Supposedly, she sells her body to married men."

"And this time, apparently bullied a classmate into committing suicide."

"Nobody wants to ask her directly about it, so the rumors are passed along as though they're true."

"She doesn't interact with anyone in class, and doesn't attend any after-school activities."

Back in the world of non-rumors, the test is over and she's still asleep. So Kanata signs her test with her name, figuring that that would be better than just handing in an unnamed test, even if she's going to get a 0 anyway. How nice of him, but maybe he should have woken her up in the first place.

He then goes to the rooftop to eat lunch with the friends he was texting, and they discuss new smartphones because Kanata's seems to be running out of battery quicker than before.

"Kento is a huge gadget geek and knows a lot about IT equipment."

"Madoka joined the conversation while eating his mom's homemade bento"

They then discuss the rumor some more, with Madoka, having been the one who texted about it in the first place, insisting that it's true. Apparently the fact that there's records of her going to a completely different school is just proof that there's been a cover-up about it. But then he proceeds to immediately deny believing the rumor because there's not enough evidence. Apparently he's not the brightest dude.

Kento: "Don't bother with it. It probably started with someone saying they heard it from Araya's old school friend's senpai's younger brother's friend."

Madoka: "No, it was Araya's old school senpai's clubmate's younger brother's friend's friend!"

Madoka: "So, what about you, Kanata? Do you believe the Araya rumor?"

Kanata: "Huh, me?"

Kento: "Yeah, what do you think, Kanata? You're the closest to Araya after all."

Kanata: "Only in that my seat is close to hers..."

He finally says that he doesn't believe the rumor at all, and when pressed for a reason says that it's because of the impression she gives off, even though he's never actually spoken to her. And the reason he has the impression is because a month into the semester he was sitting in the literature club, alone. Then suddenly someone entered the clubroom...

Touka: *panting*

Touka: "Hide me!"

Touka: "I'm being chased!"

Kanata: "Ch-chased... by whom?"

Touka: "The guidance counselor!"

He essentially ends up shoving her into a closet and when she complains about the rough treatment he tells her that she should be more quiet if she doesn't want to be found. So far this dude is like the polar opposite of Ginharu's Mr. Nice Guy Yukito. And as soon as they close the closet door the guidance counselor comes barging into the clubroom.

Guidance Counselor: "I know you're here, Araya!"

Touka: "...hey"

Kanata: "Shh! What?"

Touka: "Why are you hiding in here with me?"

Touka: "Wouldn't it have been better for you to stay in the room and tell the counselor that I'm not here?"

Kanata: "...I had no time to think"

Kanata: "For some reason, I felt like I was doing something wrong."

Touka: "Hmmm... is that so"

Touka: "By hiding me... you're an accomplice?"

Eventually after some more back and forth Touka decided she couldn't handle the dusty book smell in the closet and wanted to leave so Kanata held her back and pinched her nose. Eventually the counselor figures he got the wrong room and leaves.

Touka: "I thought I was going to die there!"

She opens a window to get some fresh air and when Kanata mentions that she might be seen that way

Touka: "If that happens, just hide me again"

Touka: "I think I recognize your face from somewhere"

Kanata: "You should at least be able to recognize your classmates' faces."

Touka: "Whaaaat?! Really?"

Touka: "Oh, uh, Satou-kun?"

Kanata: "Wrong."

Touka: "Right, right, it's Tanaka-kun!"

Well, she got it right, but backwards.

Kanata: "Now you're just guessing blindly"

Touka: "Umm... where do you sit?"

Kanata: "Right in front of you"

Touka: "Ah... haha, sorry. I'm really bad with faces"

She also says she's bad with names, but for some reason says it very proudly.

Touka: "My name is Araya Touka"

Kanata: "No... I already know that"

Touka: "Ah, are you one of those people that are good with names and faces!?"

Kanata: "I remember my classmates. And transfer students are rare."

Touka: "I see, I see"

Touka: "But before I ask someone what their name is, I have to introduce myself."

Touka: "So tell me your name"

Kanata: "...Kurono Kanata"

Touka: "Kurono Kanata... Kurono Kanata... Okay, I memorized it! Can I call you Kanacchi?"

He says no, because nobody ever calls him that. When she asks what people call him, he just says "Kanata".

Touka: "Kanatacchi"

Kanata: "Drop the "cchi""

Touka: "Kanata, then"

Kanata: "You didn't add a honorific"

Touka: "You don't have to use an honorific for me either. "Touka" is fine"

Touka: "So then, Kanata"

Touka: "Thanks for helping me"

They then talk about the literature club and what they do. Touka asks if they write anything themselves, and Kanata says he doesn't, to which she starts quoting something he wrote. He suddenly realizes he'd been leaving his literary notes on his desk.

Touka: "You wrote that, didn't you?"

She then proceeds to grab his notes and starts reading, and he gives up on trying to stop her. Apparently they're ideas for novels he plans to write. Eventually she gets thirsty and tells him to go grab her a drink. When he tries to argue she says that the counselor might still be looking for her, so she can't, and hands him a 500 yen coin.

Touka: "Get me something sweet"

As he's grabbing the drinks, he imagines her sitting in the club room laughing her ass off about his short story about a girl on a lighthouse getting hit by a shooting star and becoming a single creature, neither alien nor human. But when he gets back, she's reading intently, too busy to even acknowledge him or take the coffee he brought her.

Touka: "Why was there an alien in the shooting star?"

Kanata: "No, it's... a spaceship that looks like a shooting star... if you read a bit further you'll understand..."

Touka: "Why does it understand words? Isn't it odd that it can speak Japanese?"

Kanata: "...with their advanced technology they've made a universal translator... but explaining all that would just make it tedious..."

Finally, she finishes reading and drinks her coffee.

Kanata: "So... how was it?"

Touka: "It was interesting"

Touka: "Really interesting"

Touka: "But what happens at the end?"

He tells her that he hasn't written that far yet, so she asks him to just tell her. He worries that she just wants to tease him about it but she insists that she really is interested.

Touka: "So when are you going to finish it?"

He says that it's still a draft and it won't be done anytime soon.

Touka: "In that case, show me once it's finished"

Thus ends the flashback. I have to agree with him, she doesn't looks like a drug-addicted prostitute who bullies people to suicide.

This is probably a good stopping point for now. I don't know how far I'll be able to get in Tsukikana, because this seems a bit more story-based than Ginharu which is all slice of life, so I might just get to a point where I have no idea what's happening. That is if I don't just quit it halfway and start their next VN when it comes out in 2022 or something. :makina:

Been busy for a while, but this time I only stopped for a few months rather than a few years :sacchan:

Immediately after the last scene we get a scene of Yukito trying to sleep while Emir is banging a chick right across the room. Apparently the dude is a player :makina: She's like "this is kinda weird, doing this so close to your roommate" but Emir assures her that Yukito is asleep... but he was only pretending.

After that we skip a few days and apparently that's been a regular occurrence, so Yukito has had to invest in some earplugs. But they apparently got into an argument and broke up, so maybe he didn't need the earplugs after all...? Emir seems very upset by the break-up, but when Yukito tells him he'll find another one soon enough Emir says that he couldn't possibly understand his feelings because Yukito's been in a relationship ever since middle school. Eventually Yukito convinces Emir to go volunteer with him because there's plenty of girls there and apparently there's going to be a party later on. We then switch to Bethly who, along with Lilian, is apparently going to said party.

Bethly: "There was a welcome party not too long ago... is it ok to party so much...?"

I guess Bethly's never heard of a party school :makina:

They get to the party and pay the entrance fee (do parties normally have an entrance fee? I wouldn't know cause I've never been to one) and are deciding what to eat.

Bethly: "...as expected, they don't have Japanese food..."

Now that's definitely not normal. Sure, there aren't quite as many Japanese people as there are Chinese people in Tronto, but there's still plenty of Japanese food. She decides that she should make some Japanese food for Yukito later.

Lilian: "...what are you laughing about?"

Lilian: ""My beloved would be delighted if there was Japanese food"... is that what you were thinking?"

Yeah, that's pretty much spot on what she was thinking. Bethly ends up going for some vegetarian meat-substitute soup and actually likes it. Lilian rightly rebukes her, though. :makina:

Lilian: "Stop. I like real meat."

And she takes a big bite out of her chicken.

Jake: "Hey, you're eating well!"

Is this Lilian's boyfriend? They have similar clothes and it's a white guy and a Chinese girl in Tronto... they must be dating. But apparently not because they both introduce themselves after he starts hitting on Bethly. When Yukito and Emir shows up it turns out he's kind of a racist too because he talks down to them for being exchange students. Eventually they get rid of him, but something tells me we'll see him again.

Bethly: "...hey, can I join the next volunteer thing you're doing?"

They decide to help the volunteer group prep for Culture Day, and Lilian even says she might join too. The scene ends with Bethly offering Yukito some of her fake meat soup.

A few days later Emir and Yukito are talking about how cold it's getting, and how to Yukito it's reminiscent of home and Emir, being from South Africa, still can't get used to it. The first flakes of snow falling remind Yukito of his pals back in Japan, and he wonders how they're all doing.

Once they get to class, the professor informs everyone that they did absolute dogshit on the test and had the lowest average she'd seen in years. She recommends that those who aren't certain about their grade drop the course and do something else with their lives. Then this dickhead chimes in

Jake: "You hear that, transfer students?"

Jake: "Do you have to go back home if you fail a year?"

Also his voice acting is very different in terms of audio balance. Emir's VA just about screams his replies, meanwhile Jake's VA sounds like he's whispering his lines under a blanket in the middle of the night, trying not to wake his parents up.

He (sarcastically) wishes them luck, in response to which the professor calls him out.

Shannon: "Your essay was one the worst ones. Worry about your own grades before you worry about others' grades."

Shannon: "Have you packed your bags for your trip home yet?"

Oof, roasted.

Probably going to end this entry here. I originally started it in early February but then got busy again. It's a short entry, but I want to post it so that I'm remotivated to read more, and also because I'm worried the forums are going to get Thanos'd by Tay and I don't want to spend hours on a blog post only to have it get rolled back.

Shoutout to littleshogun for being the only person who commented on my previous entry :badnicoman:

Now that their part is done they all head over to the snow festival to have some fun. They start by taking turns as reporters talking about the snow sculptures for their documentary. Momiji is a natural, but Mizu-nee, however...

Mizuha: "...why are you all laughing? Huh... my word usage? I can't help it, I've never played the role of a reporter before. I-if you're going to laugh, why don't one of you do it instead...!"

So Yuzuki replaces her but quickly gets flustered

Yuzuki: "Uhhh... I can't do it anymore... Hinata-chan, your turn~"

Hinata just does her genki thing. Probably not very reporter-like, but at least she's confident about it. And when it's finally Bethly's turn she just talks about pancakes. :makina: Can't really fault her too too much, seeing as how she's supposedly still not very good at Japanese... not that you'd immediately be able to tell by the way she talks most of the time, but every now and then Yukito has to explain a word to her and she definitely has more pauses in her lines than other characters. Meanwhile people going up to the top of the mountain are fascinated by their drawing.

Also I found a bug. When going from the day they were drawing to the day of the festival, the date change from February 6th to February 8th, which originally made me think they slept for a day or something lol. But once this scene ends and the day changes again, it goes from February 7th to February 16th. Also wtf, they skip Valentines day?

On the 16th, Bethly comes into Yukito's room to ask him something.

Bethly: "Is it... really alright for me to accept this...?"

Apparently when the festival had a photographer going around photographing stuff, she was so touched by the snowflake that she donated a huge printout of the photo she took of it to the festival committee, and they gave it to Bethly. So Yukito reassures her that everyone wants her to have it, especially since she's not going to be staying in Japan for much longer. He also just so happens to have DVD of the documentary ready to give her. Apparently it's a special cut of it, since they haven't actually finished editing it yet but he wanted to hurry and get a copy for Bethly. That makes it sound like she's leaving really soon...

Bethly: "I'll take them back with me... the photo, the DVD, and all the memories I've made... I'll take them all back to Canada with me and treasure them... to help... me endure the loneliness..."

Yukito: "I'll definitely come see you. Will you wait for me until then?"

Bethly: "Yes... I'll wait for you..."

Apparently his plan is to finish one more  year of high school, and then (after not failing his entrance exams this time) go to university in Canada. "Tronto" arc coming up next hype?? Also song incoming hype??? For those of you that don't know, Tone Work's game have pretty good image songs, and the ones for Ginharu are especially great if you like jpop. Here's a link to the playlist:

They're what made me want to read Hoshi Ori and Ginharu in the first place. And one of Bethly's songs is about a girl greeting her beloved at the airport, so...

In the meantime they have one last h-scene :makina:

And so we skip to 4 days later when Bethly is leaving and everyone's at the airport to see her off.

Hinata: "...but I'll miss you... can't you get your stay extended by a year or something?"

Unfortunately she can't.

Bethly: "Once I'm back in Canada, I'll tell everyone in my family... that in Japan I have a sunny friend named Hinata"

D'aw. Best girls gotta stick together.

Bethly: "Yuzuki... my cute little sister"

She praises Yuzuki's cooking and they promise to cook for each other again.

Bethly: "Momiji... I still remember when you talked to me in middle school"

Bethly: "You were my first friend in Japan. Do you want to be... my friend forever?"

Momiji: "Of course, Bethly"

Mizuha: "Thanks for all the happy memories. I've been away from the rink for a while, but I have something really important instead"

I completely forgot that the reason she's even here is because she got injured, otherwise she'd be over in Russia or whatever.

Finally, it's Yukito's turn.

Bethly: "...I'm not going to say farewell"

And then they kiss

Yuzuki: "Kya..."

Momiji: "Waa..."

Mizuha: "H-how bold...!?"

The VA just reads out the onomatopoeia for whistling, but I choose to believe that Hinata's literally just wolf-whistling at them.

Bethly: "...that wasn't a farewell kiss, but a promise kiss"

Yukito: "Yeah... it's a promise. I'll definitely come to see you. So you have to wait for me too"

When she gets back to Canada, she apparently makes her dad the best cup of coffee he's ever had. She explains it by telling him that she was always the one who made the coffee, and that Maria taught her. Her dad even remembers Maria. When she shows her the photo of their snow painting, he tells her that it looks like her mother's art, which I'm sure is a great compliment for her. They talk about her mother for a bit, and then it fades to white as she recalls her mother explaining to her how snow is formed.

"We were able to complete it thanks to Yukito and everyone else"

"The mote of dust that is me encountered Yukito and everyone else, and grew into a beautiful snowflake"

"This snowflake won't melt or disappear"

"It will always shine a gin'iro light"

TL note: "gin'iro" means "silver"

"Forever and ever, into the haruka future..."

TL note: "haruka" means "distant"

I think they namedropped the title at the very beginning, but here it is again. And yes, that's basically the only reason I bothered to include this part :makina:

Hina is visiting Yuzuki because she's worried about her mock exam. Yuzuki's mom asks what she plans to do in the future and Hina mentions that Momiji went to university in Tokyo. And considering Yukito hasn't shown up yet, perhaps he's already in Canada? And then just as they mention him, they get a phone call.

Hinata: "Hellooo, senpai♪ It's been a while♪"

Apparently it's been 5 months since he graduated, and has been living in Toronto since April (it's currently July 9th). But since classes don't start until September, he's been taking English classes in the meantime.

Hinata: "So what you're saying is you've been going on dates with Bethly-san every day, right?"

However Yukito tells her that Alberta is pretty far from Toronto, and they haven't met up yet. Oh yeah, I guess now that he mentions it she is from Alberta. And Alberta and Toronto really aren't close. I dunno why it took me this long to realize that him going to Toronto doesn't automatically mean meeting her.

After he asks them if their studying is going well, Hina wants to know how hard it is to go to university abroad. When Yuzuki asks her if she wants to study abroad she says she's just wondering. But perhaps she really does have some country in mind? Maybe we'll find out when we do her route. He also tells her in Canada universities don't have entrance exams, but rather decide based on your high-school grades.

Hinata: "Uwaaa... if that's the case, then I'd definitely get rejected"

Yuzuki: "Work hard for Bethly-san's sake, onii-chan!"

Hinata: "Use your lovey-dovey power, senpai!"

Once they're done with the call, we get...

Good old "Tronto" :makina: Though to be fair, if you only heard a Torontonian pronounce Toronto, you'd think it's spelled "Tronto" too.

As Bethly's image song starts playing :sacchan:

The first scene that we get is Bethly's dad driving her to the university dorm

Brian: "It's written all over your face. "I can't wait to get to the dorm""

Bethly: "Huh... t-that's not true. I've always thought that it's lonely to live away from you-"

That hair, though.

Brian: "Yeah, I get it. But you're excited for your new life, right?"

Bethly: "That's..."

Brian: "Sounds like I hit the nail on the head"

Bethly: "Yeah... I'm really looking forward to my life as a university student"

Brian: "I've already send you off twice. The first time was in middle school, and you were all anxious and looked like the world was about to end"

Brian: "The second time was when you were going as an exchange student. It wasn't as bad as the first time, but you still looked uneasy"

Brian: "But this time is different. You look full of hope"

They eventually hit some traffic, and Bethly says that she'll walk the rest of the way, especially since it's a workday and her dad needs to get back to work. She arrives at her dorm room.

Unfortunately the music ends here. A bit anticlimactic, to be honest. I remember skipping through Marika's route in Hoshi Ori and her song plays when she's literally singing it on-stage, so I suppose I was expecting something a bit more grandiose.

Bethly: "...umm"

That's a cute dress Bethly's wearing. And I guess this is her roommate? She introduces herself as Lilian Ryu (sounds sorta Chinese I guess? Can confirm there are plenty of Chinese people in Canada) and because Bethly mentioned she's from Alberta...

Lilian: "...Alberta's really rural, right, is it just filled with bears and deer?"

So if they're not in Alberta right now...

Anyway, Lilian establishes some rules. Lights-out at 1 am. No all-nighters. Phones in bed are fine but only under the covers so that you're not lighting up the whole room. No using each-other's stuff without permission.

"...this girl is very strict..."

And the last rule is absolutely no bringing guys over. (But girls are fine, presumably? :makina: )

When Bethly hangs her photo on the wall, Lilian asks about it so Bethly tells her about her trips to Japan.

Lilian: "...it's really pretty"

Okay, good. For a second there I was worried she was going just going to be an insufferable asshole, but maybe she's not going to be so bad.

Then Lilian proposes they go to a welcome party that's being held for new students as it will give them a chance to have fun and meet people. Once they're back from the party, Lilian is wasted but Bethly didn't drink because the drinking age in Ontario (I'm starting to get the feeling that she might be in Toronto :makina: ) is 19 and she's a law-abiding citizen... But if she's under 19 now, and it's been "a few years" since the previous route... *police sirens sound in the distance*

They also won some prizes from playing bingo at the party. Bethly got a T-shirt and sunglasses, both with the Canadian flag on them. Lilian jokingly suggest that Bethly should wear them to the entrance ceremony (not actually a thing in Canada, at least not in my university), but then suggest they give it to an exchange student, which gets Bethly thinking...

Bethly: "...then I should give it to Yukito..."

Lilian: "Is that... the Japanese exchange student?"

Lilian: "You're trying to get with him, aren't you?"

Bethly: "That's not really what I..."

Lilian: "He definitely seemed nice. Very attentive, bright and friendly."

I guess it's confirmed, she is in fact in Toronto... not that there was ever much doubt :^)

Lilian: "Hey, if you don't want that stuff, you can give it to me"

Lilian: "Since you're not trying to get with him, I think I might give it a try"

Bethly: "N-no way!"

Lilian: "So you are trying to get with him?"

After some back and forth where Lilian tries to get Bethly to spit it out

Bethly: "He... I'm... we're already dating..."

Lilian: "Huuuuuuh!?"

Lilian: "Dating, when you've only been here a few hours!?"

I don't know if she's that drunk or just stupid... maybe a bit of both.

Lilian: "Amazing... you're surprisingly promiscuous"

Bethly: "I-I'm not...!?"

Lilian: "That Yukito is something else too. I didn't think he was such a player. Maybe his friendliness is just an act to get girls..."

Lilian: "Listen, Bethly. I know that when you're a freshman you just want to have fun. But picking a good guy is really important, don't you think?"

Lilian: "Oh yeah, you mentioned that you went to Japan as an exchange student"

Lilian: "Did you feel nostalgic when you saw a Japanese guy? But you can't just jump into bed with the first Japanese guy you see"

In the end, Bethly never gets a chance to properly explain.

We then skip to 10 days later, and we're back to Yukito's perspective. He's rudely awoken by the obnoxious snoring of his roommate, whom he promptly wakes up.

Emir: "...who are you...?"

The dude is like me in the morning, completely out of it. Also I think that's a South African flag? They talk about some stuff, including the drinking age in South Africa, Yukito gives him a drink that he calls the "alarm clock" which is 50% energy drink and 50% freezer pop which wakes him right up. As they're headed to class Yukito tells him how there aren't enough hours in the day to do all the volunteering, studying, and extracurricular activities he wants to do, so he has to cut down on sleep time.

Emir: "But don't you want to be fast asleep in a nice, warm bed?"

Emir: "...maybe next to a pretty girl, that would be perfect. For example... one of them"

He points to two girls

"A platinum blonde white girl and a black-haired asian girl"

Platinum blonde? Please. If that's platinum blonde then I'm a ginger. (I'm not a ginger, by the way. My hair is basically Emir's hair)

"When they noticed us, the girls started to whisper and laugh."

Emir: "H-hey, look! Those girls looked at me and laughed!"

>tfw you're surprised when girls aren't immediately repulsed by you

Too real 1

"The white girl gave us a small wave, and the asian girl winked and blew us a kiss"

Emir: "Hey! She waved at me! And the other one blew a kiss!"

Emir: "Maybe they're hitting on me!? Hey, what do you think!?"

Yukito: "...who knows"

What he doesn't say is that they were gesturing to him, not Emir. Since this is like 10 days later, I'm assuming Bethly finally explained the nature of their relationship to Lilian and introduced the two, especially since he knew Lilian's name. A little disappointing that we don't get to see their reunion.

The two get lunch after their class, and turns we find out that Yukito uses an audio recorder to record lessons since his English still isn't that good and he needs to relisten to some parts. Meanwhile Emir explains that even though he skips a bunch of classes and spends his time getting drunk, he's doing well in classes because one of his drinking buddies is an upperclassman and he gave him a memory card with a ton of essays. If this were my university he'd get kicked out in a heartbeat if he tried to submit those, but apparently he doesn't just copy-paste them but merely uses them as a reference. And as he's handing it over to Yukito...

Lilian: "What are you two conspiring about?"

Yukito tries to play it off as the recording of a rugby game

Lilian: "Hmm... this isn't some weird porno, is it?"

Yukito: "N-no, it's not! Right, Emir?"

But he's speechless, because...

Emir: "You're the two girls I saw this morning! Hey, you're the one that waved at me!"

Poor guy

Emir: "Wait, why are you talking to Yukito so casually!?"

Lilian: "That's because we're really close. We spent a night together"

Bethly: "Lilian... he's going to misunderstand..."

Lilian: "We partied until morning during the welcome party, so I guess you could say we spent the night together"

With that misunderstanding out of they way Emir and the ladies get introduced to one-another and somehow Yukito and Bethly end up making plans to study together in the cafeteria.

Lilian: "Okay, okay, are you done arranging your date?"

Lilian and Bethly end up having to go to class, so...

Emir: "It's decided! I'm going to get a girlfriend too!"

Well, I kind of doubt they'll add another sprite to the game, and Bethly's taken, and Lilian... something tells me she's not interested in Emir that way. So this guy's chances aren't looking good :makina:

When Yukito shows up in the cafeteria in the evening, he spots a strange girl...

Yukito: "Nice sunglasses"

They talk about Emir and Lilian and how they'd make a great couple because they both love getting wasted, then talk about how they missed each other. I suppose they've been pretty busy so they might not have had much time to talk.

Bethly: "I'm really happy... that you came to Canada"

Yukito: "Of course, I promised... that I'd come be by your side"

And then naturally they start making out in the middle of the cafeteria.

"This kiss after a year and a half's wait was sweet as maple syrup..."

The last entry was really long because I basically spent all Saturday reading so I think I'm going to stop this one here before it gets too long.

Screw you Derg, I'm going to read at whatever speed I damn well please.

What comes after Christmas? That's right, New Year! So we skip to New Year and New Year happens. Exciting stuff. Also Bethly becomes an alcoholic after trying amazake (which is apparently a low-alcohol kind of sake that it is tradition to drink around New Year)

Bethly: "Gulp... gulp... fuuu... delicious..."

Okay, she doesn't actually become an alcoholic but she does take a liking to it. Afterwards they head to a Shinto temple, as is tradition, and Yuzuki's mom got Bethly a nice yukata.

The parents leave the kids to have fun, and Yuzuki tactfully leaves the two lovebirds to their own devices almost immediately.

Yukito: "No way, did she actually get lost...?"

No, you dingus.

Yuzuki: "I met up with Hinata-chan, so I'll see you two later~"

With the third wheel out of they way, they head on over to receive their fortune. Yukito explains that the great blessing is the best one.

Bethly: "That's the one I'll get"

She's certainly confident, I'll give her that. Let's see what she got.

Bethly: "It says "great"...! Is this a great blessing!?"

Yukito: "Umm... it's... a... uh... great curse..."

Bethly: "...worst luck...!?"

Bethly: "...once more"

I... don't think that' how that works... but they talk to the shrine maiden and it turns out that's exactly how it works. Capitalism, ho!

Yukito: "...good luck in the future"

Apparently out of all the positive ones, that's the worst one.

Bethly: "Once more!"

Now that I think about it, didn't she have a gambling problem when it came to a claw machine way back when...?

Bethly: "I'm going to keep trying until I get "great blessing""

Oh dear...

Yukito: "Oh... that's right... that time with the UFO catcher..."

Yukito remembers it too :makina: Luckily it only takes her 3 more tries to get the great blessing. He then explains the detail of the fortune to Bethly because apparently they don't just say what kind of blessing or curse you'll have but also which areas of life it applies to. In Bethly's case she'll have luck with the person she's waiting for, in business, and in her wishes coming true. Lucky her that she got such a good fortune after only five tries! So then Bethly stands on her tippy-toes to hang the bad fortunes, but as she's tying the last one she stumbles... luckily our hero is there to catch her right away. They attribute it to the "person you're waiting for will arrive" part of the great blessing.

Anyway, once that's all done they go get something to eat.

Bethly: "Oh... takoyaki... I know takoyaki"

Takoyaki is great, she has good taste. Yukito tells her he's going to go buy some.

Bethly: "No, I'll do it. I want to buy it myself"

She goes off to buy takoyaki and has a short conversation with the stand owner (ゴ) and when she tells him she's from Canada he's so in awe he gives her a second skewer of takoyaki free of charge. On the way back all the other stand owners call out to her enticing her with fried foods... and she ends up buying something from each one of them.

Bethly: "All of those, please"

Bethly: "Great fortune in business... everyone I bought something from also gave me something for free"

While they're talking about how a lot of the shops seem to be selling something made out of potatoes, she notices something that looks like konnyaku. I may or may not have mentioned that she really likes konnyaku, so naturally she runs off to get some and comes back with 2 extra skewers she got for free.

Bethly: ""Wishes coming true." It really is excellent luck... hahaha..."

I think she just used up her year's worth of great fortune on food and stumbling in less than an hour. Amazing :wahaha:

After the shrine they head over to Yukito's mom's cafe (in case you need a refresher, whenever I refer to Yukito and Yuzuki's "parents" that's actually their dad and Yukito's step-mom aka Yuzuki's mom. Yukito's mom lives separately and usually only shows up when people go to her cafe but unlike the other two she actually has a sprite) for what is apparently an annual New Year party being held there.

Maria: "Oh, if it isn't Yukito. And Bethly-chan too"

Yukito lets her know that they've already eaten a ton during their shrine visit, but when she offers Bethly some pancakes...

Bethly: "I'll have some, please"

Bethly: "My dessert stomach is only one-eighths full... I can't come here and not eat Maria's pancakes"

Yukito stares at her in disbelief but she gladly eats the pancakes too. Later that day...

Bethly: "...am I fat?"

Yukito: "Ummm... have you checked the scale?"

Apparently she did, but she doesn't remember how much she used to weigh before (doubt.gif) so she doesn't know if she's getting fat or not...

Bethly: "So I want to hear it from you... am I fat?"

I wonder if this game has dead ends...

Yukito: "Nah, even if there's a day where you eat a lot, I don't think that makes you fat"

Bethly: "Phew, thank goodness."

Bullet dodged...

Yukito: "But I'm pretty sure that the part that I ate is going to make me chubbier..."

And then Yukito died. RIP

I kid, he survived. He tells her that in Japan there's such a thing as "New Year fat" since all you do is sit at home and eat a bunch, but reassures her that she'll be fine if she just eats normally tomorrow. But she still wants proof so he literally sweeps her off her feet into a princess carry.

Yukito: "See? I can easily carry you, so it's fine"

According to VNDB she weighs 48kg. Yukito must be lifting while we're not looking.

We then skip to their winter break ending, and once they all reunite at the Broadcasting Club room they talk about their snow sculpture plan for the winter festival. Apparently they needed to get it approved and, surprise surprise, they got it approved, and Yukito and Bethly prepared a model of the sculpture so that they have an easier time coordinating. No special images or particularly fun dialogue here, so moving right along to a few days later when they start preparing to make the thing. Luckily for them they don't even need to make their own pile of snow this time, they're apparently having people from the fire department do it with snowplows and stuff but they figure it's not fair for them to stand around not doing anything so they help out anyway. At the end of the day everyone's exhausted but their 10-meter block of snow is complete. Yukito volunteers to help with the other blocks of snow like the mad lad that he is.

Yuzuki: "Onii-chan, you're really going to...?"

Mizuha: "Geez, you're as soft-hearted as always"

Hinata: "Seriously, you're horribly good-natured"

Momiji: "Haha, that's true. You haven't changed a bit over the years"

Bethly: "That's your strong point"

Moved by his selflessness and despite their fatigue, all the girls volunteer to help as well. Cut to a week later, Yukito ends up having to wake Yuzuki and Bethly up because they're tired as shit.

Bethly: "...I'm sleepy... and... sore..."

In the process of them complaining we find out that the two girls took a bath together yesterday because they were so tired. Now Yukito isn't the only member of the family who's seen Bethly naked. :makina:

Yuzuki: "Bethly's skin is so white and pretty... and her boobs are pretty big..."

Yukito: "Yuzuki's chest isn't that big. So having seen yours I'm sure she was envious."

Poor girl has her brother and his girlfriend talking shit about her chest size behind her back.

After school they head off to work on the sculpture.

That thing is fucking huge lol

Hinata: "It's too hard!" that's what she said

Turns out if you compact a bunch of snow, it doesn't stay all light and fluffy. Luckily Yuzuki notices someone else using a chainsaw for their sculpture... but none of them have a chainsaw back at home and they can't afford one. (Though I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost that much to rent one, but maybe that's not really a thing in Japan) But Bethly proposes a cheaper solution.

Bethly: "... a handaxe"

As expected of the descendant of a dynasty of lumberjacks. After they go and buy a few, Bethly gets to go first as the Canadian in the group.

Bethly: "...ei!"

Yuzuki: "That looks like a special technique..."

She seems to be enjoying herself as well. We skip to a few days later and they're apparently making progress.

Yuzuki: "Good work, everyone. Here's some hot tea"

She's their camerawoman so I guess she doesn't have to axe the snow. Yukito is being a super tryhard and forming bricks out of the snow and laying them to make the castle... I wonder if he knows you can just make a brick pattern on the side and it will be nearly indistinguishable? When they take a break, Yukito takes his gloves off and his hands are blue from the cold. I'm not a doctor but I think that usually means it's time to amputate them.

"With an angry look on her face, Bethly took off her gloves and held my hands in hers"

Just look at that pout

She blows on his hands to warm them up and the game even has a breath cloud animation. How fancy. Thankfully that seems to cure him and he no longer needs to have his hands amputated. At one point Yukito hits a part he's sculpting a bit too hard with the axe, and it collapses, and everyone makes fun of him like the good friends they are.

Hinata: "Yuzuki-chan, did you get that? Did you?"

Yuzuki: "Y-yeah... I recorded all of it"

Hinata: "Senpai, we should definitely use that scene for the competition, right?"

Now Yukito's failure will be immortalized in their video for all to see!

We then skip a week ahead and the gang goes back up to the mountain to apparently have some fun. All work and no play, and all that.

Hinata: "Uwaaaaa! Yahooooooo!"

Yuzuki: "Hinata-chan sure is energetic..."

And Bethly gets to show off her geographical knowledge

Bethly: "That neighbourhood is where our house is, and that's the sheep park over on the other side..."

Bethly: "That wide open area over there is the Hololo university park. It was all green in the spring, but now it looks like a white canvas..."

Bethly: "I learned that the last time I was up here..."

Momiji: "Was that when you went here on a date?"

Bethly: "Yup, a date. The two of us came up here... it was fun. We made a lifetime's worth of memories"

"Not having expected such a blunt answer from Bethly, everyone around blushed"

Momiji: "Ahaha, so lovey-dovey~"

Mizu-nee doesn't seem as happy though...

Mizuha: "Sounds like your relationship is going well"

I think she might be a little jealous...

But back to the more important topic of sightseeing, they try to find their sculpture but apparently they can't see it from here because a building is blocking it. As they discuss that, some of the girls start giggling.

"Looking around, I saw Hina drawing in the snow behind us"

"Starting from our feet, she drew a huge umbrella with a heart above it"

"Bethly's and my shadows fit perfectly under the umbrella"

Hinata: "Lovey-dovey, senpai!"

Turns out the real reason they went up here was to collect makeup snow for their sculpture, and they had Momo-chan-sensei bring her car to that end.

Hinata: "Senpai, I have a question"

Hinata: "What's makeup snow?"

Luckily for us she wasn't paying attention the previous day and Yukito has to explain it all over again. As time goes by the snow used for their sculpture will get somewhat dirty, so makeup snow is just clean snow they're going to use to cover the dirt up and make it look nice and white again.

Hinata: "And after you're done placing the makeup snow, Bethly-san will warm you up directly again. Right, Bethly-san?"

Bethly: "Yes... I'll warm him up"

This girl has lost all sense of shame

Hinata: "Yuzuki-chan, did you get all that?"

Yuzuki: "Yeah, I recorded all of it"

Hinata: "This scene is definitely going to be used for the competition. Right, senpai?♪"

After they finish collecting the snow, they head back down and start to put it on their sculpture.

Bethly: "...amazing"

Bethly: "The snow... it's not white, but a very pale blue..."

Everyone seems equally shocked by this discovery. It makes it seem as though none of them have actually lived anywhere with a lot of snow before. After taking turns putting on makeup snow and warming their hands, they seem to be nearly done. And the snow festival staff even hand out free cup ramen for everyone to eat and warm up. How very generous.

A few days later Yukito stays behind in the clubroom working on stuff related to the documentary, and when he finally join the group, something has happened.

Mizuha: "The question is do they have enough time..."

Hina notices him and calls out to him

Hinata: "Look over there!"

It seems about a third of someone else's huge sculpture went and collapsed.

Hinata: "There was a really loud noise! And then!"

Apparently some people got hit by the collapsing snow, and while they were fine, everyone was told to stop working on their sculptures until the fire department double-checks them all to make sure they don't collapse too. Yukito seems to be sure that their sculpture will be fine, so hopefully it doesn't get rejected. The next day the investigation of their sculpture still isn't complete, so Yukito tells everyone to go home while he stays and waits to see if they'll be able to resume work that day.

Bethly: '...cold?"

Bethly: "I came back, of course"

And she brought him the same kind of heating pad he brought her way back when they first met and some hot canned coffee. They wait around some more, but the results aren't announced.

First thing in the morning Yukito gets a call from the committee telling him to come to a meeting at noon. At 2 pm he shows up at the clubroom where everyone is waiting for him and tells them what he learned. Apparently because of the warmer-than-usual winter they're being more strict in regards to the structural integrity of the sculptures, so they've put together a list of sculptures that will might have to be taken down... and theirs is on the list. But of course our team of main characters won't take that kind of abuse, so Yukito says he's going to go talk to them again.

Yuzuki: "We'll all go, onii-chan"

And they manage to convince the committee member they talked to re-review their sculpture. In the mean time, because they can't sit around doing nothing they start building the tons of snowmen they need to populate the castle. In the evening, the committee member comes to tell them that they haven't reached a decision yet because the committee is split on whether or not to take the sculptures down, so they'll decide the next morning, and tells Yukito to come to the meeting to help their case. In the meantime, they stay late to make as many snowmen as they can. Momo-chan-sensei insists they eat, but they don't care so she drives off... and comes back with Maria.

Maria: "I've brought you all food"

Well that disproves my theory that she's actually a spirit of the cafe and can never leave. Also she seems a little under-dressed considering the weather. When Yukito asks her if it's fine for her to leave the cafe, another car pulls up and it turns out she convinced all of her customers to come help, and brought chairs and a stove from the cafe.

Maria: "I also made pancakes for dessert"

Bethly: "Maria's pancakes!"

Maria: "With plenty of maple syrup, of course"

She knows exactly how to woo Bethly.

The next day, everyone's waiting for Yukito to come back. Finally, he does.

Bethly: "...how did it go?"

Yukito: "The committee decided..."

Yukito: "...to allow us to continue!"

But as they're all celebrating and getting ready to start, Yukito notices something. And he tells everyone that they should hold off on working on the sculpture for now because everyone stayed late and it's bad to work when you're sleepy. But something tells me that isn't the real reason...

Hinata: "I'm not really sleepy though. But, well, if senpai says so"

He goes back to the clubroom later on can compares the sculpture before work was paused, and after.

Yukito: "...just as I thought..."

Bethly: "...what is just as you thought?"

Turns out Bethly snuck up on him. He decides messages everyone on LIME to gather in the clubroom, shows Bethly the photos and asks if she notices anything different between the two.

Bethly: "...there..."

Once everyone shows up, they finally mention what it is they notice. Apparently it looked whiter before the pause, and now it looks dirtier even though while work was suspended the sculptures were covered up. Apparently the makeup snow started melting off. So he's worried it might weaken because of the snow melting, and because the statue was actually only checked a while back and during the meetings with the committee they weren't actually looking at it, it might have to be taken down after all. They decide that the best thing to do would be to have it checked again. Two days later they got it checked again... and it turns out there's a chance that it will collapse, so they're going to demolish it. As he's explaining this he starts to tear up and apologize.

Yukito: "And Bethly..."

Yukito: "I told you we'd make bright and happy memories but... I... I can't do anything..."

Bethly: "...don't apologize..."

Bethly: "It's nobody's fault... nobody did anything wrong"

Bethly: "I... had fun. Making a sculpture, working hard together with everyone, was really fun"

Bethly: "So I made plenty... bright and happy memories..."

And so their sculpture was taken down. They just brought a snowplow and demolished the thing.

Hinata: "It took so much effort to build that, and now it's just destroyed like it's nothing..."

Everyone is understandably disappointed that they can't participate in the festival anymore, but Bethly has an idea...

Bethly: "...a snowman. We can make a snowman"

They talk to the committee and they're allowed to build a whole bunch of tiny snowmen

Yuzuki: "...they're cute"

Well, at least they got lots of footage for their Broadcasting Club documentary. But Momiji doesn't seem satisfied

Momiji: "Can we really have our participation end like this?"

Momiji: "It's true that the sculpture is gone... but, back then... remember what you said, Bethly? That if we could all participate in the snow festival it would be a lot of fun"

Momiji: "We can still participate again next year, and the year after that. But Bethly only has this year, right?"

They talk about the possibility of rebuilding the sculpture, but smaller, so that they can realize Bethly's design.

Bethly: "Hearing that from everyone makes me happy..."

Bethly: "But the sculpture is gone... it can't be helped. It's over..."

As they look outside, they see that it's snowing.

Hinata: "Oh! So NOW you fall!"

Momiji: "If only it started earlier..."

I feel like the snow melting depends on the temperature, not whether it's actually snowing or not but okay.

Hinata: "I'm going to go make a complaint!"

And she runs off. Everyone follows her outside, where she's using her footprints to write in the snow.

Yukito: "You wrote "baka"... are you a middle-schooler?..."

Yuzuki: "Ahaha... that's very Hinata-chan of her. But it looks fun. I think I'll do it too"

So they all start drawing in the snow, and draw something akin to Bethly's sculpture design.

Bethly: "...this reminds me of that time in middle school"

Bethly: "When he was seeing me off, Yukito did the same thing"

Apparently he drew a huge snowman on the airport's viewing platform. I don't remember if I mentioned that in the blog when it happened, in fact I don't remember it happening at all... But if they say it happened, it must have. And then Yukito realizes that they can do the same thing to participate in the snow festival. He has Bethly sketch a new drawing and they decide to use the university park that Bethly so aptly described as a canvas... as a canvas, and they get permission to do so from the festival committee and the university.

Momo-chan-sensei: "It's a good idea... but how are you going to draw?"

Yukito then explains that they all got skis to use to trace out the lines of the sketch that Bethly made according to the instructions of the people up on the mountain, since the idea is that you'll be able to see the whole thing from there. At first Bethly and Yukito go up the mountain, but later on Yukito trades places with Hina. Bethly stays up there because she's the artist, after all. As they work late into the evening, Yukito's mom brings more food, uncluding...

Maria: "Tada♪ Hololo's Special Canada-Style Pancakes! With lots of blueberries on top. Just spread some maple butter and enjoy!"

Maria: "Fufufu... so, how are they, Bethly-chan?"

Bethly: "Great job, Maria...!"

"The sun began to rise, making the fresh snow glitter"

Bethly: "My body is tired, but my heart is warm..."

Bethly: "Because we finally finished it"

Yuzuki: "It's beautiful..."

Bethly explains that since no two snowflakes are alike, this one represents them, and is unique. How delightfully cheesy :makina:

Probably about time for me to stop for today. Thanks for reading the entirety of this edition of "Reading Endless SoL Very Slowly. www"

According to a program I made, I've played 20 hours of Ginharu as of the end of this post, so I decided to see how far in I am. I timed how long it takes to ctrl from the start to where I am, and then how long it takes to ctrl from where I am to where the OP movie plays, and it seems I only need to play about 15 more hours until the prologue (dunno if you can really call it that in this case, but whatever) ends. Hurray for terrible terrible reading speed!
Quite a bit happened since we last left off, Hina spent all day hanging out at our place with Yuzuki
The two of them then went up to her room, and when Yukito came to bring them tea
Once that misunderstanding is out of the way, Yukito retreats to his room to read some shounen manga in peace and quiet, when
The next day after class, Hina invited Yuzuki over to her place (Yukito was invited too, but he dodged it by saying boys of his age shouldn't be going to girls' houses), and his parents were at work so he went to a restaurant, and unexpectedly met Mizu-nee
Over the next few days we meet Momo-chan-sensei, a new student teacher who happens to have been a student of Yukito's mother, and after the two of them got drunk at his mom's restaurant with Yukito still present, and Momo-chan-sensei having forced him to sleep in the same futon with her, he promises not to tell anyone in return for her letting him decided what extracurricular activity she is going to hold. He decides to have her hold a "One-room classroom", essentially a class where students from different grades could all be equal regardless of being a senpai/kouhai, an idea he got from one of his first conversations with Hina.
Once the extracurricular activity is decided, Yukito makes a pamphlet to advertise it, and Yuzuki suggests he draw a snowman. The next day he shows the pamphlet to his classmates
This however leads to a conversation where we find out that Bethly is really good at drawing, and she proceeds to draw a much better snowman, and it's all thanks to her mother who is a somewhat famous artist
Over the course of the day Yukito invites all of the girls to this One-room classroom, and they mostly say they'll think about it
This all happens right before golden week, so we then cut to each of the girls in turn thinking about going... aside from Bethly, who pretty much just thinks about her mom, but can you blame her?
Once golden week is over, Bethly doesn't come to school for a few days, turns out she's sick. Naturally, Yukito and Yuzuki go to visit her and bring her the handouts, but she's asleep when they get there, so they talk to her father, Brian, instead. He only speaks English, but because the devs were lazy all the English conversations are in Japanese and it's simply implied that they're speaking English. After a short conversation, Yukito invites Brian to his mom's cafe, saying they have great pancakes
He accepts, and they have a nice long conversation at the cafe thanks to Yukito's mom Maria being able to speak English rather well, due to the fact that she traveled a lot back when she performed. We learn that Brian is a pilot, and that they moved to Japan because after Bethly's mom died of sickness around the same time last year, he wasn't making enough money, so the moved to somewhere where airline pilots are paid more. He really enjoys the pancakes, Maria insists he take some back home to Bethly, and Yukito decides he wants to try drawing a snowman again...
That's all for now~
Skip to February and it's time for Bethly to go back to Canada
And now it's literally a year later, Valentine's day the next year.
A few days later everyone's preparing for a party but nobody tells Yukito what it's about
A few weeks later
So since I'm finally reading again and actually made a post, might as well keep doing this. I'm probably not going to be as detailed as before because lazy and because I read a bit faster now than I did 8 months ago.
So it's now summer, and someone needs to clean the pool. Our valiant protag-kun volunteers, but all the other students cleaning the pool are there as punishment for being late... or at least they would have been had they not all managed to escape, leaving poor MC to do all the work himself. Thankfully one person comes to help
So after cleaning the pool and getting all dirty and sweaty they take a shower.
The next day, as thanks for helping him out, Yukito shows Bethly around town.
I guess that's it for now, more when I read more
I wasn't really going to keep doing this blog, I got super busy with school last year so I barely read any Ginharu since, and finding the right moment to screenshot can be annoying... but I just had to capture poor Momiji getting fucking rekt.
Thankfully everyone reconsiders after hearing Momiji's super dramatic reading. Later Hina addresses something that's been bugging me as well.
And finally...
There's something about VNs with snowy settings (Kanon, DCII, hell, even Yukizakura to some extent) that greatly appeals to me. Hard to say why, but regardless Gin'haru just happens to be a VN with a lot of winter themes, which is great. Also I really like all of the characters. If I wasn't completely biased towards Bethly, I'd have a hard time deciding whose route to do first.
The events from my previous post all took place on the first day, and pretty much spanned the entire day. Basically the only thing that happened after was Yuzuki thinking about how nice her brother is, and deciding she wants to start calling him Onii-chan.
The next day we find out Momiji is a huge bookworm that likes to read fantasy novels
Then later on Yuzuki, Aoi, and Yukito all go visit Mizuha at the ice rink, but she seems to be upset about something (couldn't possibly be that promise the protag forgot, could it? )
After Aoi fangirling hard about Yukito being osananajimis with a famous figure skater, the (much shorter than last time) day ends, but not before Yuzuki does her best
The next day we meet Aoi after class, turns out she's pretty genre-savvy
Then after a little bit she abruptly drags you into a nearby empty classroom
The next day (or maybe not the next day, I kinda lost track of time) we see Momiji suspiciously sneaking into an empty classroom on her own, after a bit of spying and eavesdropping turns out she was practicing a one-man play.
Fast forward to more of the flashback with Mizuha, turns out their promise...
Of course, Yukito immediately rushes to see her
Finally, it's Saturday and Aoi comes to visit Yuzuki first thing in the morning
Now, onward to reading!
I've gotta live up to the name of the blog, ya know?
Actually I recently found about about the Hoshi Ori patch that's being worked on right now, and that made me want to revisit Ginharu. I was considering just reading it on my own without updating the blog but that felt wrong. I'll probably end up disappearing for another year after a few entries, but we'll see. In the meantime, I'll probably have fewer screenshots and more summarization because I'm lazy.
Also it turns out that I never even published the previous entry in September of 2017, so here it is I guess
Now onto the stuff I read recently and not over a year ago
I decided that in order to keep track of what I've read, I'm going to write short summaries of what happened in Ginharu. I figured I might as well post them here, someone might find them interesting, and others might flame me for reading SoL garbage. Since I'm a Japanese noob, the reading will be very slow and probably very inaccurate, but it's better than waiting for the TL (ETA 50,000 years). I've read a little bit before today, so here's all that basically happened:
Protag's step-mom takes an amazing photo of Yukito and his step-sister Yuzuki
They then walk to school together, but rather than not be late Yukito drops his sister off and goes to visit his actual mom at his grandma's coffee shop
Then upon being sent to some classroom or another for being late we meet the Canadian transfer student Bethly
They can barely understand each other, but eventually Yukito turns the heating on and gets her a chemical heating pad from the infirmary, and he has to explain how it works... to someone from Canada...
Upon reaching their actual classroom and giving introductions we meet the person we're sitting next to, Momiji
We have a few awkward conversations with Bethly
School is over and we go to meet our senpai ice-skating nearly-champion who just came back, Mizuha
Last but not least, we meet the super-genki Aoi, Yuzuki's classmate who already became her friend
The three of them then go visit Yukito's mom again, and Aoi basically tells her that she was right to get a divorce to follow her dream of becoming a super violinist
And that's basically everything that's happened so far, to the best of my (poor) knowledge, time to go read more!
This post is from all the reading I've done over the weekend, so there's a lot of stuff here
Not much else happens over the summer, Bethly goes back to Canada for a while and she and Yukito send each other snail mail. Once summer break is over, they go back to doing their "one-room classroom" thing.
Eventually everyone ends up looking at Bethly's sketchbook and Hina notices something
A few time skips later, without a ton of particularly notable events, and it's winter again. Time to plan an activity for the winter break and it looks like it's going to be skiing
They ended up going there, the absolute madmen.
Later that day
Pretty much immediately after that we skip to april when the next school year is starting.
After school the next day, Yukito and Bethly get pancakes at his mom's cafe.
A few days later after school, Yukito and Bethly go back to the mountain because that's the only place where there's any snow left and they want to make a snowman.
As of writing this I've read 50 hours of Ginharu... at this rate I might get to the end of a route before 5000 hours!
Been busy this week, didn't get to read as much, took a bunch of screenshots though!
Bethly came to school the next day, all healthy and less depressed.
The one-room classroom had its first meeting, and it basically consisted of Yukito, the 5 grills and Momo-chan-sensei as the teacher. Since the topic was "My favourite thing" and Yukito was first, he gave a speech about how the local mountaintop was his favourite thing, and everyone liked it so much they decided they wanted to go there.
Bethly also talked about her favourite thing, which is Alberta, and her mom. After the one-room classroom, everyone went home together, and discussed the two speeches.
It was decided that they'd go up to the mountain top on the weekend. Naturally Yukito and Yuzuki arrived at the rendezvous point first, and they soon saw what looked like Hina being accosted by two large gentlemen, and figured they must be womanizers, so Yukito had to go save her.
Turns out they were just tourists trying to get directions.
Eventually everyone but Bethly arrives, and since she's nowhere to be seen we end up taking the cable car without her.
A short while after we reach the top, we hear a familiar sneeze somewhere nearby.
Once the group is all back together, everyone decides to have a snowball fight, as middle-schoolers do.
Well, that's all for now, and now it's time for more reading!
