I love visual novels and I would like to become a tester/bug reporter for any visual novels. Please message me if you have a project that you would like me to test and I will either confirm or deny the request.

  1. I finally finished Libra of the Vampire Princess. I have it 100% completed and honestly I did enjoy the story but the translation did make quite a few parts complicated. All in all though, I was able to understand it for the most part but some of the sentences gave me a headache the way they were worded. If I had to guess, I think this project was rushed a bit too much and that reduced the amount of time they had to go over their translation and editing to make sure the sentences flow together nicely. If the translation quality was a bit better, I would easily give Libra of the Vampire Princess a 9/10 but since the translation was rather poor, I would reduce the score down to 7.5/10 which is still pretty good. If you are used to Japanese visual novels like I am, you can use past experience to figure out the hard to understand parts. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely readable. I just don't think it was worth the $40. I wouldn't have had any problem paying $20 or even $25 for it but for $40, they should have done a little better on the translation. I just pre-ordered Princess Evangile W Happiness for $36 and I guarantee Mangagamer did an excellent job on the translation. I have purchased many Mangagamer games and they have never disappointed. So I really don't get why they charged $40 for Libra when W Happiness is only $36 to pre-order. Not only is it shorter but it is also in very high demand. I was a little weirded out over all the urination stuff since that's not my cup of tea but all in all the H Scenes are pretty good. The story is good, the art is good, the sound and voice is good. The only thing I can't say is good is the translation quality. If I had to rate that, I would say it's Acceptable. Meaning that if you're an experienced visual novel reader like myself, you can pretty much figure out what they mean.
  2. Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know that Princess Evangile W Happiness was officially set to be released on July 28th. For those who haven't noticed this announcement yet, I post here to let you in on the good news. Princess Evangile was one of my all time top three favorite visual novels and since Mangagamer announced back in 2015 that they were translating W Happiness, I was extremely excited and now after waiting two long years or more, we finally have a release date set and I just pre-ordered my copy on Mangagamer! Both all ages and 18+ will be released on the 28th and Mangagamer is charging $35.95 for pre-ordering, which isn't too bad at all. For more information check out this link on Mangagamer. Pre-order your copy now. Too many people are pirating visual novels but when you do that, all the hundreds of hours of work the translators did is for nothing and if they don't get paid for the games, that's less funding they will have for future projects. Mangagamer is rather quick in the translation department as well, compared to some other translators. I expected about two or three years for W Happiness so this is no surprise. I just wanted to relay the good news so the countdown now begins. THERE IS 24 DAYS LEFT UNTIL PRINCESS EVANGILE W HAPPINESS IS RELEASED!!!
  3. I am about four hours into this game, reading at a regular pace. I can't believe the awful quality of the translation. It reminds me of the game Flyable Heart, which had a machine translation patch released that was so bad, they completely removed it from VNDB. I checked out Flyable Heart years ago but when playing Libra of the Vampire Princess, it reminded me of that game for the first time in years. I feel like I was cheated $40. With translation quality like this, the price should only be $20 at most. It would be fair if that was the case but the price is twice as much. The translation isn't nearly as bad as Flyable Heart but it's still all over the place and really difficult to understand. It gives me a headache on some parts because there are sentences that are translated correctly one minute and the next minute there are strange pronunciation and grammar and to be honest, it doesn't even feel like I'm reading English. I am by no means an expert of the English language and I guarantee some of my posts have weird grammar or something similar but I am left completely and utterly baffled by the quality of this translation, which I have been looking forward to since they released the Kickstarter. I understand it was a huge project but if you didn't plan on doing a quality translation then you should have cut the price in half at least. I know I'm not the only one who notices this, but it seems like it was translated to English by a Japanese person who was born and grew up in Japan and only has a basic understanding of English. You can tell by reading it that there was a language barrier there and it shows in the translation. Honestly, if it wasn't for this, I would rate the game 10/10 but since the translation is so poor, the most I can give it is an 8. While the game is still very much enjoyable and it is possible to understand. The parts that have bad translation do make sense after you read a certain portion of it but the fact that I have to put effort into understanding it is just something that shouldn't happen when I pay $40 for an ENGLISH visual novel. @MiKandi Japan - If you are planning on doing another English visual novel translation, I HIGHLY recommend hiring someone with better English skills. I always got average marks in English, nothing special but I had an average of about 70% and even with that average skill, I could have easily put the sentences together much better. The way some parts are put together, it's like one of those word problems that you only understand after a majority of the pieces are revealed to you. I guarantee many people will agree with this but let me make this clear, I still am enjoying this game but I just think it's only worth half of what I paid. I bet a ton of work and hours went into translation and of course it is worth paying for but only $20 at most because of the poor translation quality. It's possible it's just because it's MiKandi's first English visual novel, but I hope they learn their lesson from this screw up. PS - If you don't agree with me, that's fine. This review is just my point of view and my opinion, although I guarantee it is shared by many people. I am just giving people a heads up. I will still read the entire thing since I paid for it but the most I can give it is 8/10 on VNDB.
  4. I actually was going to buy Libra of the Vampire Princess on Steam but if I can't get the 18+ patch with it, then I'm not going to bother. If I'm going to pay $40 for a game, I want to be able to enjoy all the content. To be honest, I haven't ever bought a visual novel, I usually just download them on the internet. Yes, I know it's illegal, but I'm only one of the millions that do it. I have been waiting for Libra of the Vampire Princess to come out for a while now, which is why I am willing to buy it. There are three visual novels that I am willing to pay for and they are Princess Evangile W/ Happiness, The Eden of Grisaia (Unrated) and Libra of the Vampire Princess. Those are the only ones I would actually pay for.
  5. Hello, Thank you for the information, I sent a private message to the thread creator and offered my services.
  6. Hello again, I actually am registered on that thread and I have been for quite a while now but no one has offered me any work. I am thinking that not many people actually look through that thread when recruiting people so I figured my own thread would help me find an offer. I don't mean to bother anyone by adding a separate thread or anything along those lines but I genuinely want to get more involved with the visual novel community.
  7. 1) Commas are used as a sort of pause in between words in a sentence and can be used when listing three or more things. If you only have two things in the list, you would use and instead of commas. If you have more than two things, it would sound strange if you kept putting the word and in between every one of them. Example 1: Three of my favorite visual novels are Grisaia no Kajitsu, Princess Evangile and Muv-Luv. Example 2: The translation was incorrect, so he went over it again to fix it. 2) Commas are used to separate adjectives in some situations and when the adjectives are interchangeable. One way to determine whether or not to use a comma in this situation is to put the word and in between them and if it still makes sense and sounds right, replace it with a comma because it also reduces the amount of words used since you can replace and with a comma in a lot of situations. Example 1: She is a smart, beautiful woman. Example 2: She is a beautiful, smart woman. Example 3: She is a smart and beautiful woman. (The word and could be used as a substitute here and still technically be correct but you can shorten the sentence by replacing it with a comma.) Those are the two main uses of commas but there are plenty of other situations where you can use them. Most of the time, you can tell just by reading the sentence out loud whether or not using a comma is appropriate. Sometimes commas are used even when they don't have to be and either way would be correct. If you are having trouble with commas, just think that they represent a pause in the sentence and serve to make it sound more appropriate. I've never taught anything before in my life so this is the best explanation I could give you, I hope it helps. One other way to get a grasp on commas are to pickup an English novel or read something online that has correct grammar and you can use them all as examples. EDIT: I can't believe I forgot to add this but one other important use of a comma is when starting and ending a letter. Note that normally the first sentence in the paragraph is indented but when I press tab it takes me out of the editing window, so lets just pretend it is indented. Example: Dear Fuwanovel, I love your website! Sincerely, Saggz
  8. Sorry if my post was misleading but I am not actually working on any titles as of yet, this post is meant to offer my services to anyone who needs a translator checker. I would be fine with editing as well, but I don't know how to access the actual text inside the patches and I don't know enough Japanese to translate anything. I am an expert with the English language so unfortunately, going through visual novels, checking and reporting errors is about as much as I can do. I really want to get more involved in the visual novel community. I have only been playing visual novels for about a year but in that time I've played some very good ones that I enjoyed quite a bit. Honestly, I haven't played a visual novel that I didn't like yet. Also, one thing I forgot to mention in my first post is that I am a graphic and web designer. I work from home which is why I have more free time to offer than most people who work on visual novels. I also am very experienced with web administration and Linux so I can setup any type of server for hosting. I would be willing to offer up a website in return for early access to patches, even if you don't need me as a translation checker and only want to enlist my web design skills. Again, please send me a private message on here if you have any questions for me or would like to offer a position on your team. Thank you!
  9. Hello. I am looking to join one or two translation projects as a translation checker for grammar and spelling. I work from home so I have plenty of free time available. The way I planned on working was each time you finish a route or even if you just send me the patch for every 10% you complete translating and editing, I will have it completely checked before you send me the next update. I will do two passes and I will record any mistakes in spelling or grammar in detail, along with their position in the game, so you need only open the script and make the change. If you keep sending me updates every so often, by the time you get to the end of the project, most of the game would already be checked and edited so you won't have to go back to the beginning and go through the entire game yourself. I am new to the visual novel community and would treat any project I join as my own work and I would guarantee my best work. If you are interested in enlisting my services, please send me a message through this website and provide me with the details of the project and if I accept, you will have to provide me with updates. If there is already a partial patch released for the project, I can start there and then get an update when I complete it. Thank you very much! Edit: I work from home as a freelance graphic/web designer so I can offer more free time than the average person. I am interested in getting more involved in the visual novel community as a translation checker but I can also offer my services as a professional web designer since I often see people requesting web design or administration, which I can safely call myself an expert in both. Again, please send me a private message on here if you have any questions or have an offer for me. I am also willing to exclusively join a translation team if they are active and want a permanent member for translation checks and/or web design. Thanks!
  10. Here is my list of my five favorite heroines: 1) Tsukiyama Sena - Noble☆Works 2) Irina Vladimirovna Putina - Osananajimi wa Daitouryou: My Girlfriend is the President 3) Shirakawa Kotori - Da Capo Series Plus Kotori Love Ex P 4) Suou Amane - Grisaia no Kajitsu Series 5) Kitamikado Ayaka- Princess Evangile Series All of the Visual Novel's in my list are fully English translated. There is one more heroine that I had a picture of on my computer, but I forget what her name is and what visual novel she is from. I will include the picture below, which is one of the best pictures I've ever seen in a visual novel.
  11. Hello everyone, I am new to visual novels, I have only been playing them for a few months. In those few months I have played some very fun ones that I enjoyed very much. I think it's safe to say that I am hooked on visual novels and so I want to offer my time since I am playing them anyway. I am available to test any patches that need testing. I am a very quick reader and I can finish an entire route or more in just one day, depending on the length of course. I have advanced computer knowledge so I can give detailed bug/error reports. In return for early access to partial or completed patches, I will buy the game, apply the patch and start working on it right away. I am also interested in getting into editing in the future because I want to do more for the visual novel community, but for now I am just available as a tester unless I am offered an editing position for one of my favorite visual novels that only has a partial patch. Format 1) Handle (the one you use or plan to use): Saggz 2) Positions you can fill: Tester/Bug Reporting 3) Types of projects (VNs) preferred: ADV, Romance, Slice of Life, School. 4) Availability (edit this one as you get involved in projects): I am available as patches are sent to me for testing. 5) VNs most interested in producing an ftl for: I am interested in testing any visual novel that doesn't have any RPG elements. I prefer the straight text and picture only visual novels with choices. I don't really like playing mini-games or doing dungeons or puzzles in the middle of reading a visual novel. 6) Motivation for joining in on ftl: I want to get more involved in the visual novel community and of course get early access to patches. 7) Conditions* (any additional conditions, under which you will or won't work): I am not interested in yaio visual novels. I don't mind yuri and girls love visual novels, but they aren't my favorite. I am not a fan of the nasty hardcore visual novels that have weird shit like girls getting raped by weird things. I will approve or deny a request for testing if I dislike the visual novel in question. Please message me on here if you would like to work with me. I assure you that in return for early access to the patch, I will put in as much time and effort as I possibly can. Thank you!
