Log Files
Like most websites, Fuwanovel creates log files if you visit the site. The information collected by log files includes your internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), hostname, date and time stamp and referring pages. We use this information to defend our server infrastructure against various kinds of online attacks, to detect system errors or to provide information to law enforcement authorities, if ever necessary. The IP address and hostname is partially anonymized and only stored for a short period of time (24h). Collecting this data is a legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
Like most websites, Fuwanovel uses cookies: Small text files stored on your computer containing information about your personal preferences or preferred website settings. You can divide cookies into main two categories: Necessary cookies, like session cookies or language preference cookies and not necessary cookies, like tracking cookies or social media cookies. Fuwanovel strives to use as less cookies as possible. Also, we will only set the necessary cookies if you visit the site, in compliance with the GDPR’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Email contact
If you contact us via email, your message content including all meta data (sender name, sender address, email headers and so on) will be stored on our servers for the purpose of processing your request. The storing and processing is either based on your explicit prior consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and/or on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), as we have a legitimate interest in effectively processing the inquiries sent to us. The data you send us via email will remain on our servers until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent or until the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your request has been processed).
Application form
If you use the application form at our application page to apply to the Fuwanovel team, your message content including all meta data (sender name, sender address, email headers, Discord tag and so on) will be stored on our servers for the purpose of processing your application. The storing and processing is only based on your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The data you send us via application form will remain on our servers until you request us to delete it, revoke your consent or until the purpose for storing the data no longer applies (e.g. after your application has been processed). We also use SSL/TLS based encryption to ensure your message and personal data will not be stolen or modified during the transmission.
Community features
You can use Fuwanovel without actively submitting data. By doing so, we will only collect the data mentioned in the Log Files section and the Cookies section. But Fuwanovel also offers some community features, like the Fuwanovel Forums and the Fuwanovel comments section. If you want to use these features, we need to store and process more of your personal data than usual.
Fuwanovel Forums
If you want to create an account at Fuwanovel Forums (https://forums.fuwanovel.net), we have to collect more data from you than from other visitors. Among this data is at least your email address and your birth date, but you’re free to add additional profile information like various social media profile data, your location, your gender, language skills or other skills, if you like. Before you create a forums account, we require explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) from you, which allows us to store and process this data, but only for the purpose of providing the forums service and only as long as you do not object.
Fuwanovel Comments Section
If you want to use the Fuwanovel comments section on the Fuwanovel Blog, we have to collect more data from you than from other visitors. Among this data is at least your username and your email address, but you’re also free to add additional information like you website address, if you like. After you have given your prior consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), we will store the data you have sent to us via the comment form in our database, but only for the purpose of providing the comments section and only until you object. Matomo Analytics
Fuwanovel is using Matomo, a self-hosted, privacy-friendly alternative to third-party analytics services like Google Analytics. By using Matomo, Fuwanovel stores your personal data (like your IP address, your used device, your location or your language settings) only on Fuwanovel’s own servers which are located within the European Union. We also do this for only a limited period of time and only for the purpose of gaining an insight in our traffic flow. Furthermore, and compared to third-party analytics services, Fuwanovel will make sure that no cookies will be set on your device without your prior consent an that your data will be anonymized while we process it on our servers. Third Party Services
Fuwanovel uses some third party services. These third party services have their own privacy polices and often process your data in countries outside of the European Union. In most cases, we will not force you to use these third party services, but we will ask for your agreement beforehand. Please be aware that at the moment you agree, these third party service can obtain some of your personal data (like your IP address or your hostname). Akismet
We use Akismet anti-spam service to avoid annoying or dangerous spam comments in our comment section on the Fuwanovel Blog. Furthermore, Akismet is used by us to protect our contact forms from spam or other potential harmful content. In order to work properly, Akismet needs some personal data associated with each comment or contact inquiry (like name, username , email address, website, message content or the IP address of the comment writer), which we transmit to Akismet for this purpose.
