  1. Always been pretty indifferent to lolis tbh but thanks anyway.
  2. Thank you for the welcomes. :3 Hnnnng, you have to play VLR, it's the best thing ever. D: I don't watch as much as I would like to. I've recently been watching K-On!, but also a fan of Attack on Titan, Free!, and Cardcaptor Sakura. Also watched a lot of Pokemon and Digimon when I was little (okay, I lie, I still watch a lot of them).
  3. Thanks everyone No, where would you get an idea like that? Haha, my friend has been trying to get me to play / watch that for years. The story doesn't really interest me though. I am however interested in Clannad, but not sure whether to watch the Anime or play the VN.
  4. I generally prefer my visual novels on the go, so having them on platforms like 3DS, Vita and mobile is my preferred option. Tablet more than phone for the bigger screen. Also, reading the thread, like, seriously guys, you can't hold a tablet for a few hours? Really? Like, I get maybe not a regular novel because they're kinda awkward to hold sometimes, but tablets are flat and light, not to mention you can get stands for them if you really must go 'hands free' :S What principle would that be? Surface says hi.
  5. VirtualBox is the one I've used in the past (and Bootcamp when I had my filthy Apple product). I mostly used it to run Ubuntu on my Windows PCs because I was too lazy to partition my hard drive instead. I, however, can't work out what the problem is here? Like, why do you need VMs to play the games? Do they have weird hardware requirements, or so some of them only work in earlier operating systems (XP and earlier)?
  6. If you are inexperienced with programming and don't want to look further into it, then I'd recommend Twine over anything else. It lets you simply write an interactive story that gets turned into a webpage, so it's very simple to make your product and then distribute to other people. Ren'Py is also an option like others have suggested. The good part about that is if you do want to look further into programming, then you can because it runs on Python so any Python code will work in it. As for content, I'd love to see some stuff come out of Indonesia, because it's a culture that you don't hear too much about. I'm from Australia so we get a little bit of Indonesian stuff here because we're closeby, but I imagine places like the US wouldn't get much, if any at all. Don't expect to make a lot of money because visual novels are a niche product in the west (even moreso for a unique culture like Indonesia), but I definitely support as much diversity as we can get. :3
  7. Yeah, they're just hard to track down. Purple me is preeeeetty good. Thanks for the welcomes everyone.
  8. Okay, so I was approached by Mellow about this project, so here's the feedback I have at the moment: - Doooooooon't use Ren'Py. It's fine for visual novels but really isn't designed for fighting games. A better alternative would be Pygame (which I think can work alongside Ren'Py) because that will give you the 'game' stuff. That's still probably not ideal, though, as Python can be pretty slow. - M.U.G.E.N is a better option because it's built for fighting games, but it has a weird scripting language and you can't sell games you'e produced in it (or at leats not with the free version) - Just throwing it out there, but Unity2D is out now and lets you use sprites and stuff. I'd recommend it over M.U.G.E.N simply due to the extra polish it offers, its portability (can build games for iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, Wii, WiiU, PS3, PS4, PSVita, Xbox 360 and (soon) Xbox One using it), the fact that it uses standard language (C#) AND you can sell the products you make in it. Also, totally not biased but I'm also more experienced with it than the others. - Honesty, putting text to the screen (ie: the visual novel bits) is pretty simple in practically every language and engine, so you really should focus more on what is best for the fighting. I'd usually recommend looking for something quick (running C/C++ ideally), but there aren't many around that give you more bang for your buck than Unity (even though it runs on the slower C#). So yeah... Anyway, I've worked professionally as a programmer before so I probably have some knowledge I can rub off onto you folks. I also enjoy character designing, 2D art, and composing music but I'm pretty rusty at all of them. I also study so even if I sign up I'm limited to how much time I can work on it. But yeah, if I get a spare moment I'm happy to help where I can.
  9. Mainly watching K-On! (well, K-On!!) at the moment. It's my new obsession!
  10. From my experience of running forums, I've personally never been too concerned with people bringing back old threads if they have something useful and new to contribute. One exception that left me a little peeved was when somebody I was doing an exchange with resurrected a debate thread from 2007 (this being in 2013) that had been long resolved and the original member who raised it being long gone (which I could guarantee because I knew her IRL). It would have been okay if it was just that one stupid bump and everybody left it alone, but then suddenly all the people I was exchanging with proceeded to reply to it with useless contributions. It was the first and only thread I've had to lock for necrobumping, but the fact that I had to waste my time locking it instead of the people just leaving it to die was what really bugged me (that and getting jibbed out of some exchange posts).
  11. Jumping between Bowser's Inside Story, Link Between Worlds and Radiant Historia. Can't really seem to stick to any of them. Also waiting patiently for my Danganronpa preorder to arrive on my doorstep.
  12. I've only played Persona 4 Golden myself, still haven't beaten it but it's one hell of a game. Bought Arena when it was on sale but not opening it until I'm done. I'm curious to hear more about Persona Q and Persona 5.
